  If Safe Mode does not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a startup repair, etc.:

  Windows Vista will load only a black screen with the white mouse arrow.  I can move the arrow but by pressing the keys (including ctrl-alt-del and ctrl-shift-esc) does nothing.  The only way to turn off here is to press and hold the power button.  Same thing in safe mode.

  I tried the "Repair your computer" option (F8, or from the Windows DVD).  The Startup Repair option says that he finds no problem.  There is no restore point on the computer if it is not an option (it isn't my computer, the person who owns it is said that there should be a restore point, but if there is, the computer can't find it).

  The Dell (F12--> Diagnostics) system diagnostics found no problem (I'm sure this isn't a hardware problem).

  not sure about the Windows update that seemed to start the problem, but it is 2 instances of run once Wrapper were running.   I have found that if black screen you started the Task Manager, then selected and close it, either run it once windows Wrappers would begin.

  whenever I turn on my computer it starts as normal until it come to the login screen, I log in and the welcome screen come but after that I end up with a black screen and a mouse.   About 3 months ago my G10 starts with a black screen startup. I can hear the sound and all qosmio logo. Just impossible to see anything.
