Windows Vista is not mapped network drives on a network server

I set up a home network server which I can access and map drives on a Windows7 and Windows XP computer on the network.  However, I can't do it from my Windows Vista computer.   The vista PC can find and configure the server through its IP address, but it does not appear on the topic of network and sharing.  The network is set to private, all parameters are checked to allow sharing and access and the server is on the same workgroup.  Any ideas on what prevents Windows Vista map server readers?

  • Windows Vista will not read external drives

I had an external hard drive connected to my computer earlier today. All of a sudden, my computer froze and started to make noises beeps, then I stopped and released my external drive.  Now, whenever I plug a drive it tells me that I have to reformat. However when I try to reformat the drive, he told me that the format could not be completed. It allows me to format NTFS, but that does nothing for me. I need to format in FAT or FAT32, but it won't let me. I even reformatted my drive to FAT32 from another computer, but when I plug in Vista it still says it needs to be formatted.  I got lost. How can I get Vista to re-read my external drives?

  • Windows Vista will not see Seagate 320 internal drive to format

I bought a 320GB Seagate (7200 RPM) opportunity and I'm trying to install Vista on it. The computer BIOS sees the drive, but loading Vista it does not show the HD as an external drive and ask drivers for it. The disk has been previously formatted for Mac.

Try to use SeaTools for Windows.  See also: Seagate Installation Assistance

Please note that the hard drive needs to be internally mounted inside the computer because Windows Vista will not install on an external hard drive.

    Hello

The CD/DVD drive needs no special drivers!
Vista includes a Microsoft driver that works with all CURIOUS s (CD/DVD drives)

Simply said, the Vista should recognize the drive without any problems.

A few questions; did you get any error messages? What is the status of Device Manager? Do you see yellow exclamation points?

There is an old way to correct a similar drive problem. It worked on XP then try it on Vista OS.
It of necessary to update the registry entry
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    1. click on the start menu.
    2. If it is a Vista machine in the search box type regedit without quotes.
    3. look for the registry key mentioned above.
    4. in the right panel you'll see something along the lines of UpperFilter and UpperFilter you want to click on each key filter and tap on delete. Click Yes when asked to confirm if you want to delete the key.
    5. restart Windows.
6 let me know if it works.

  • How to uninstall windows vista or reformat the c drive

How to uninstall windows vista or reformat the c drive?

    Hello

You do not uninstall Vista as such.

Vista cannot uninstall itself by Vista, formatting the drive that is installed on. In other words it cannot remove itself.

You install another operating system, removal of Vista during the installation process of the other operating system...

You don't say exactly what you are trying to do.

You can format a disk if it a second drive with the Dual Boot operating systems and leaves without data or the operating system on it at all.

You can try the following methods and check the status of the issue.

    Method 1:

    Troubleshoot problems with installing updates.

    Method 2:

Disable your security software installed on the computer and try to install the updates.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

  • my windows vista is not closed.

my windows vista is not closed. It goes through all the motions & then the screen turns black, stay that way for a long time & then starts by itself. a window of dialogue sometimes said that just recovered windows suddenly stopped and that sometimes this problem is caused by a pilot of its defective, trying to disable an audio driver, but who will leave my computer without sound. • How boot Windows Vista from a USB hard drive that has a good backup Vista already on him.

Hi, initially, I thought I had a virus (blue screens that appear often), then I thought I had a corrupted driver or systems file. So, I had a 2 t USB external hard drive and saved ALL my internal hard drive.  After execution of all kinds of tests from my internal hard drive, it does NOT pass the diagnostic test and always stops in the same place on the internal hard drive.  It becomes harder and harder to start on my internal drive of 'C' without getting some kind of blue screen.  I'm sure that now it's my drive "C" which is declining and malfunction and I am convinced now to go forward and every time you start my existing backup Vista SP2 that I backed up on my disk 'K', or if I can, then do a new clean install of Vista 86 x (32 bit) on the disc 'K '.  My boot sequence is as follows: 1. Disc 2 DVD 3. External drive USB 'K' 4. Internal drive C (eventually when I get all fixed, I turn OFF my 'C' drive.)  When I boot my computer without my Vista disk, it bypasses the 'K' reader, because all the "loadup data" is located in a folder and are not exposed, or I don't have the files to "load" just in the right place.  When I look at the file config.sys and autoexec.bat copied, I see nothing in the files that would be "load" my existing Vista, instead he just goes right in front of the reader 'K' and on the 'C' drive and loaded a version own intalled my Vista (if I can avoid a blue screen, sometimes I have to load in "safe mode" and even) It doesn't work sometimes!)  My question is what the loadup files are needed and where on my 'K' drive (in system32?) to be able to restart my old copy of Vista which has all my existing configurations in place?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Please make all below even if you have done some before as it is often the set of operations which solves
    the question.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    Hello

MTP mode for WMP11 sync - mode MSC to treat the MP3 as a reader. So you have set up in the MTP.

Make sure that Windows is updated appropriately that there have been several USB updates.

1 check that the driver letters for them, for a player, if the drive of the default drive letter is changed, what is happening.
Mine was h: I added a device that took H: and the player stopped. So I put it back to H: and the other
device to J: and everything worked again. If necessary start - type in the area of research-> disk management find top
-Right-click on it - RUN AS ADMIN

Don't forget to remember the MP3 must be set to the PSG to sync with WMP, and meteorological service of Canada to copy and delete files
    and update the firmware.

If no joy follow these steps:

You may need a powered hub. (all the USB ports on your computer are not powered, often only 2)

    Try these:

    Make a Restore Point

Control Panel - Device Manager - click in the empty area - VIEW - show hidden devices

Here, your devices are the MP3 player.

Now look everywhere EXCEPT the USB controllers for your devices (cannot be found) and if you find
It RIGHT CLICK and UNINSTALL all.

now go to the USB and UNINSTALL ALL controllers in the category, but the category itself.

    APPLY/OK

    RESET

This refresh battery USB and hopefully it will allow the unit to install. (You may need a powered hub)

Here is the similar procedure under XP, Vista is the same, except that we need clear specific devices, as appropriate.
