Windows Vista Service Pack 2: Service Pack not installed. Restoration of the changes. Turn a computer off

Hello

I have a year old Acer Aspire 5720 with Microsoft Windows Vista installed on it. Windows Update said I had to install a Service Pack, and when I let it go automatically everything seemed fine and update 3/3 went to 100% and then rebooted and said 'not installed the Service Pack. Coming back has changed. Do not turn off your computer. "This screen for hours or as long as the computer is turned on. I can't access either safe mode. The computer came with an installation CD. I can access the recovery menu by pressing F8. My stuff is not backed up either and I can't access it and I am really worried!

Looking forward to your help!

Kind regards

Sher

It's fixed! After about 3 days trying to solve this one!

Acer E tool safety program was causing some issues, preventing the updated files to a proposal!

Get rid of it, reboot and install SP2! :)

    We are all ONE!

I tried some of the solutions that offered you, but I think what was my problem was caused by the presence of the index on an external hard drive and when the computer has been restarted the drive letter of the USB drive was not the same.  If I remember well, it was a problem that I wasn't yet able to rebuild the index.

I now have the index on my hard C at the level of the root drive.  I was about to point to the other half of a 16 GB flash drive which is also USB, but Windows Vista Home Premium does not only because it appears that are considered removable flash drives, but external USB drives are not presented in this category.

Currently I have about 74 000 items indexed.

  • Windows backup service is not installed

How can I download the files of the service Windows backup on my computer Windows Vista Home Premium?  When I go to control panel, and then save the files, loads of screen of backup but when I click on the box to the top, nothing happens.  I looked in Services and can not find that Windows Backup listed as a service.  Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and DCOM Server process Launcher are started in automatic mode. Also ran SFC/scannow, but which did not fix missing Windows backup service.

Is it possible to download and install files of Windows backup on my computer?

You should only have received a file not two. Run the other file only if Windows Update is not in the list of Services.

Start - All Programs - Accessories - right on command prompt and choose run as administrator. Type (or copy and paste by clicking in the command prompt window and choose Paste).

    regsvr32 SDRSVC

If you get an error, you can press Ctrl + C to copy it to the Clipboard.

    Try to start the service.

Click on Start - Control Panel (and select Classic view in the left pane) choose Administrative Tools and then Event Viewer , and then look at the Application and the System will connect (under Windows logs) for both last entries, you tried to start the service.

  • Windows Update service will not work after upgrading the hard drive

I'm running Windows Vista 64 bit, Home Premium SP2 with 8 GB of ram. I recently cloned my hard drive OEM of 500 GB, 5400 RPM Toshiba MK5055GSX via a standalone, dual drive bay dock for upgrade to a 750 GB, 7200 RPM, Western Digital WD7500BPKT. Since the clone/upgrade, Service Windows Update does not work and gives the message: ' Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. " You may have to restart your computer. "And Yes, I checked and everything related to Windows Update seems to be 'turned on' or well defined, but the service will not work. Notes; Windows Update still works with the player "OEM", it is only the new WD drive that has the problem. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestion on getting this problem is resolved.

I have Window vista business 32 bit on Sony Vaio laptop. My automatic update of the window is on, a lot of updates were installed, I can't find the SP1.  I checked the updates, saw "the view update history" but can't find SP1.  Basic information system shows no service pack. 'Winver' shows Version 6.0 (6000 building). All other window updates have been installed except "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express edition service pack 3 (KB955706) who is still unable to install, do not know for what reason." I guess that there is no link between the failed SQL and SP1. It is after a complete reinstall of Vista 3-4 days back.

Prior to the relocation is in that the original version, Vista SP1 was installed automatically by the Update window.
I wonder if SP1 is already installed, but is not displayed or should I download and install it manually.

  • Windows Vista Service Pack 1 will not install. -It says "cannot install, change recovery."

I recently installed windows Vista Home Basic on a hard nine. I want to install sp1, but after long hours of reboot and installation, step 3 of 3, it says "cannot install, restoration of the changes." subsequently, an error message appears indicating that an .exe file (it started with MNT) is corrupted. I was able to remedy this through the command prompt (chkdsk) but I want to know how to install sp1. I ran an sfc scan result were he finds files corrupt, but he couldn't fix it. I then ran the option upgrade from vista startup disk and sfc shows that there are corrupted files. The newspaper did not show all corrupted files sfc was not able to solve. I ran sp1 install from both standalone and windows update. I chose the option the first time and the second time, I shut down the computer and booted from safe mode.

    Hello

Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

It will also tell you here what Service Packs, if any, are already installed.

Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, first of all the installation of SP1.

    Vista SP1 32-bit (x 86): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30
