Windows Vista Ultimate Edition started cutting the computer when certain usb devices are connected

I had this platform for a few years with no problems. Last week when I went to sync an ipod (which I had already done several times) it abruptly shuts. I can it restarts, but when I try to sync the ipod, same thing happens, no error message full closed.  Also, I noticed that when I am attaching other devices such as an external hard drive or a blackberry it stops.  Today, he does even without fixing anything. All of these devices were working very well.  I have disassembled the computer, cleaned all fans, removed all dust bunnies. I have an ASUS MB, cpu temperature seems good. I think it's a software/driver problem. The thing is I have not installed anything, System Restore does nothing, all the usb drivers say they are up-to-date. All USB ports are affected, even most directly on the MB.  Anyone had this happen?  I think buying windows 7 and try it because I don't want to replace the motherboard, I spent $$ on this a few years ago, raid, etc. of liquid cooling.

It should last me awhile longer, last year the food out crapped (dust bunnies blocked fan), I replaced with a 1100 watt tagan. This system had worked great for a year, so I don't think it's a matter of P/S.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Highrever,

1. do you have the latest Vista service pack installed on the computer?

You can try to uninstall and reinstall the complete USB hub drivers and check.

a. Click Start and typedevmgmt.msc and then click OK. Device Manager opens.

b. expand Bus USB controllers.

c. the first USB controller under Bus USB controllers right click and then click on uninstall to remove it.

d. Repeat steps above for each controller USB is listed under Bus USB controllers.

e. restart the computer.

You can also check if you get special material related errors in Event Viewer about what is causing the problem.

  • Windows Vista does not respond after the removal of a usb device! HELP Please!

I have windows vista for my PC and I noticed that most of the time when I remove a usb device, the computer is unresponsive and crashes on me shortly after. And I won't have any choice but to cut the main power supply if the computer shuts down. I know that this cannot continue and will eventually damage the computer. Is there a solution and why this can happen?

    Hi ClaudL,

    1. this happens with all type USB devices?

2 when was the last time it was working fine?

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

  • Computer do not normally sleep wake up and the computer hang when external USB devices are connected

    Hello

I have a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit desktop CyberPowerPC, and there are currently two problems with it:

1.), I have two USB ports in the front of my case. I am connected to my computer. Then I tried to connect my external hard drive using the USB cable supplied with it, but just at the moment where the end of the USB cable touched the port, the screen is black and automatically rebooted and froze when the display shows the brand CPU that is before the login screen. I actually press the restart on my case button to restart the computer with the hard drive already plugged. Then everything should work normally.

It's the same thing when I tried to connect my iTouch 2nd generation.

This problem occurs sometimes, however, but I wonder if someone always has a solution to this?

2.) whenever I put the computer to sleep and he remains asleep for a while and I turn it on it once again, powers for about 2 seconds then it turns off. I have to turn the power supply and light in the order so he could get out of mode 'sleep'.

I was wondering if you have solutions to this problem, as well.

    Thank you.

Original title: new Windows 7 problem

    Ok.. I'll try again...

The problem is caused by a bad 'ground' between the USB ports of the case and the motherboard. Static electricity is originally the USB device to short on the USB port which is originally the motherboard restart mode.

I had the same problem and got my computer case exchanged. The problem has not entirely disappeared, and I use the USB port on the front on the card reader, just in case.

It can also be a problem with the power supply or even the motherboard. It is very difficult to locate the failure without replacing in turn, a process that happens to be a bit expensive.

The above is the reason why I recommend that you contact the MANUFACTURER. Don't take no for an answer off the manufacturer or supplier. It is a problem annoying which can eventually damage your operating system if it is enough...

I have Windows vista Ultimate edition. but he started asking for activation after the windows update while it has already been activated before the update.

    Hello, Pichon,

If Windows Vista application unexpected activation

On rare occasions, you may be prompted to activate Windows Vista on a computer that did not previously require Windows Vista activation or has already been activated successfully. For example, this may occur on a computer on which Windows Vista was preinstalled by an OEM installation or Volume licensing and are major hardware changes occurred, such as upgrading the hard disk and memory at the same time.

If you are prompted to reactivate Windows Vista, you can do this by using the Windows Activation Wizard to:

    1. Click Start, and then click computer.
    2. Click System Properties on the toolbar, and then click click here to activate Windows now in the Windows activation area. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click continue.
    3. Select the Windows Vista activation method that you want, and then follow the instructions.

To avoid this problem in the future, obtain the latest service pack for your version of Windows Vista, either through automatic updates or direct download.

To update to Windows Vista and prevent this activation problem does not happen:

    1. Click Start, click all programs, and then click Windows Update.
    2. Click find updates.
    3. As soon as Windows Vista found the updates, click the install updates button.

I have two Acer Aspire laptops.  They are totally frozen because of the virus.
I lost the recovery of Windows Vista Ultimate Edition disc, where to get a replacement.
I have to rebuild my laptop.

    Hello

No - what are the two Acers come with a recovery disk?

If this is not the case, one of them would have a recovery partion, which specifically is to reinstall the operating system on it.

With an Acer, you press Alt + F10 at startup to start the recovery process.

All data are lost when you do the above.

And for the lost disc, contact Acer and ask them to send you recovery disks.

They do that for a small fee:

    http://us-store.Acer.com/RCD/

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

I am considering the upgrade from Home Premium to Ultimate. I already bought the software Windows Vista Ultimate Edition at a great price from Circuit City when they were going out of business. I can't afford to have any problems during this update because I need every day my computer for school. Is a one time installation were I will not be able to use this ultimate software on another computer ever? Thanks for your help.

  • Get BSOD when updated in Windows Vista Ultimate Edition

I got the Windows Update for Monday, 30/11/09. Under the option updated, I clicked on the update Realtek for my wireless 801.11 b / g driver.  During the download on the window updates screen, he says that he was downloading updates. Then he went to install the updates and I got the BSOD about 3/4 of the way through.  Reboot the computer and to the Welcome screen, it said it was set up the updates.  He crossed the 1st to the 3rd stage, but remained at 0% and then in Windows. When the desktop is loaded, the window "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" came.  When I click on "Find solutions", he went the BSOD and restarted all over again with the same message "install updates" at the Welcome screen.  When I tried to cancel the window "windows has recovered...". ', he went the BSOD again and restarted again with the same method. The next time I tried to restart the computer and during the stop, he went to the BSOD and restarted everything again. This also happens when I try to shut down the computer.  The stop on the BSOD error message is Stop: 0x0000001A. Windows error that appears under Windows is 80070103.  I am running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition.  Help, please. How can I get out of this loop.  I tried the "Fix - It" program, but it's the same thing when he went to restart the computer. I know it has something to do with the appearance of the Windows Update, but I do not know how to break the loop of update.

If I turn it on, when I click on the icon of BitLocker, it tells me that my computer is not configured with bitlocker, shows as 2 drives on the left, on the right it descriptions of the show with an 'x' next to a magnifying glass on a hard drive and the word "off" after the description. Is it the way it is supposed to look like when it will run. Because I put all perimeters to activation, the initialization and the establishment. The TPM is the correct version, group policy is set to the correct specifications, I did everything what I was instructed to do. I even let the TPM to create his or her own password. I initialized and took possession of the TPM, I turned it on, I put it to ignore blocked orders. I installed the security chip. My hard drive is narrowed, there is the extra partition specified as S:, Ok he said after doing this, I have to reinstall the software, but after reinstalling the software, it says it has deleted my second partition. I did it at least 10 times aggravating. So I used the BitLocker configuration tool to shrink the drive and create the partition. Now what I am doing wrong?

  • Windows Vista Ultimate Edition will not be upgraded to Windows 7

Windows 7 Upgrade says he cannot directly upgrade Windows XP, duh?  I ran the Upgrade Advisor before running the upgrade software and did not get this stupid message. I get only when the software upgrade performs its checks.  I am running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition with all updates to September 24, 2013.

Which edition of Windows 7? It matches the edition of Vista you are trying to upgrade to?

When important changes to your computer, for example an upgrade, it is always recommended that you back up your system before installing a new version of Windows. In your case, you can upgrade to Windows 7 depending on the edition and the architecture of Windows Vista, you have installed. If you are running a 32-bit version of Vista and upgrade to a 64-bit (Windows 7 edition) version, you'll have a pure make install, it is the opposite case.

If you are using Windows Vista Home Basic or Premium consumer editions, you can only upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate. In addition, you can make downgrades, which means, if you are running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition now, you cannot downgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. You perform logical upgrades:

Windows Vista Home Basic > Windows 7 Home Basic, Premium or Ultimate

Windows Vista Edition Home Premium > Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate

Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Professional, enterprise or ultimate edition

Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Enterprise

Windows Vista Ultimate > Windows 7 Ultimate.

    KiranS Hello,

Judging by your post, it seems that Microsoft had technical problems when you tried to activate your copy of Vista by phone. Have you tried phoning the line Activation again?

The normal procedure is that if the activation fails through the automated system, the call is transferred to a real person. It is the only available option if you get the error 'use existing product key'.

I can only suggest that you try again the activation by phone and see what happens.

I found the solution to this problem. I went to another Windows help forum. It is to reset the Windows Update program. I tried the one here on the Microsoft site, and it did not work. But I tried this one http://wind8apps.com/windows-update-error-code-8024a000/ and the fist solution worked like a charm. He fixed the update and install issues with Powershell 2.0. After that and a certain number of updates, it's updated, Windows Update will update to the latest version. After this release he went and found many updates, I had to install. So be patient, you're in for a little wait.
