Windows Vista update error 80080005.

I just bought a new laptop.  I ran windows update and after you download 34 updates, it installed 14 then asked me if I wanted to install IE 8.
I clicked No. (or remind me later), and then I was forced to do a reboot.
During the restart, he installed the updates, but gave me an error saying that he had to go back.

After about an hour, I was able to connect again, but when I went to redo the windows update I got an error code 80080005.
Now I can't even on wireless internet or really do anything.

How can I fix it?

Remove the Vista updates; two ways to do this:

1. a System Restore to before the updates:

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > System Restore > restore time/choose your own date > next

If you use Norton, disable it before using the system restore.

In addition, you can do this way:

2. click on start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > updates installed in the lower left corner in the next window

> then click the one that you don't want > uninstall will appear at the top > uninstall it.

In addition, on the page where you clicked "Installed updates", click on change settings at the top left corner it

> Change update settings in the next page of AutoUpdate to "check for updates but let me choose etc" > OK ".

When you take a look at pending updates, you can either download/install them one at the time, namely the bad.

> or if you do not need an individual > right-click on > UAC prompt > hide it

Post back with update KB number, you are having problems with.

    You can try to install the updates in Mode without failure.  To do this, please follow the instructions below.

    When the computer restarts, press F8 while it is starting up.
    In the Advanced Boot Menu of Options, select Mode safe mode with networking

    1. Insert your Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive and start your computer

    2. Press any key when the message "press any key to boot from the CD or DVD shows on the screen.

    3. Select a language, a time and currency, and a keyboard or input method, and then click Next.

    4. click on repair your computer.

    5. in the System Recovery Options dialog box, select the drive of your Windows installation and click Next

    6. in the System Recovery Options dialog box, click System Restore.

    7. follow the System Restore Wizard and choose the appropriate restore point.

    8. click Finish to restore the system.

    Salvation;  I have tried for more than a week to install the update for Windows Vista for x 64-based systems (KB972145) such as recommended by the alert update and for some reason, I get error code 800703EE.

    I tried to solve the problems without result.  I tried to disable Windows Media such as recommended, but it does not work.  I tried to turn on the Windows Firewall, but it does not work (read this can help, even if it is not sensible for me).  I have Norton Utilities protect my computer.

    Can someone help me with this problem?  Very much appreciated.

    What application or anti-virus security suite is installed (for example, Norton 360 2009) and is your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

    Another application Norton or McAfee never been installed on the computer (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

  • Problems with Windows Vista update error code I get is Code: 80096001

    Hi gang,.

    I need help I can get at this point. I am currently working on a machine to a customer who had the rootkit zero.access top. The machine works like a champ, now that it is all clean; but for some reason any Windows Vista refuses to update. Let me mention the operating system before proceeding. The operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. When I try to run Windows Update, the machine has a total of seven updates to install; This is especially important and option. In the important section, the machine is trying to install a security update and that is 9. In the optional section, the machine is trying to install the driver as updates: video, network, etc. The PC is already running Service Pack2. The error code I get is: 80096001. I tried every fix that Microsoft recommends, even the Microsoft Fix It tool. Nothing seems to work. I had a simular problem before in Windows XP. If my memory is good, I had to go to the entry in the registry of Windows Update and apply a DWORD here, or something; I don't remember exactly what I did. I can tell you that I checked the registry and there is literally no key to change in Windows Update. Any help or advice would be great, this question is about to drive me crazy.

    Thank you

  • Inefficient Windows Vista Update - Error 8000FFFF - solutions

    I recently reformatted my hard drive on my Dell Inspiron 1520 Windows Vista 32 bit and was trying to reinstall all my drivers and my os back to date; I was hoping to install sp1 and 2 that day. However, after several rounds of updates without any hitches, I met update KB29777, who introduces himself as important and seems inherent in the system in order to install the sp1, and at the same time, sp2. I can't solve the problem with Error 8000FFFF

    That's why my machine's own almost all of the errors with a new os and reformatted hd.

    I tried all the solutions proposed for me and more found on these forums including;

    Fix It utility, followed by restart;

    manually remove the 3 potentially corrupt registry values (which were not there because there is a new os);

    and even download the update manually from the Download Center microsoft and tries to install (which says that it has been a success, but obviously wasn't)

    Anyone wants to shed light on the issue?

    Follow the advice of microsoft at the link below

    This problem occurs when Windows Setup encounters an error. Error code 0 x 80070646 and error code 646 are generated by Windows Installer. These generic errors indicate that Windows Installer has encountered a problem. When you encounter errors that are described in the section "Symptoms", the problem may be caused by an incorrect value in the registry.
