Windows Vista update will not install and causes cell phone restart. Laptop will not reboot and Startup Repair cannot fix the problem.
Windows Update tried to install 4 days now. Every time he tries it tells me it failed and trying to install in manually. He said then the laptop restarts, but it does not start. Startup Repair tells me that it cannot solve the problems.
I don't know how to go beyond this problem, can someone help me? I have no disk Vista as it came pre-installed on my laptop. Help, please!
If your Vista is preinstalled, ANY support for your laptop is the manufacturer of the computer, not Microsoft.
Try this:
Restore point:
Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.
Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...
Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
How to get Vista recovery Media or the Vista recovery Partition on your computer back to factory settings.
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Hello1. don't you make changes before the show?
2. who is the manufacturer of the system?We checked for error "status: 0xc000014c ' and the troubleshooting step for this problem is to perform the Startup Repair by using the Vista DVD. To do this, follow the steps mentioned below:
1. Insert the installation disc into the CD/DVD ROM.
2. restart your computer.
3. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.
Note: If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.
4. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
5. click on repair your computer.
6. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
7. in the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair. Startup Repair can invite you to make choices as it tries to solve the problem, and if necessary, it may restart your computer, because it makes the repairs.
8. once the Startup Repair tool is completed, remove the Vista DVD from the CD/DVD ROM and restart the computer as usual.For more information about the Startup Repair, see this link:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/startup-repair-frequently-asked-questionsIMPORTANT: If the startup repair does not resolve the problem, you can choose "System Restore" Windows recovery environment and check the result.If you do not have the Vista DVD, and then contact the manufacturer of the system for more support options.I hope this helps.Kind regards

Hello
My laptop seven year old made me proud til yesterday, but now it does not fire upwards. Instead, it hangs for a minute or two (black screen, no HARD drive light blinks, nothing), while it charges to a screen with two options - either start the system restart or start Windows normally. The second option takes me around the loop again. The first option tells me that it cannot fix the problem automatically. When I display the error details, it lists all of the tests, as adopted successfully, but ends with the words: "Root cause found: failure so that the Setup program is underway.I'm sure I know why she fell: two days ago, I left all my files on a portable player and defragmented the disk. The idea was to speed up the machine and get it running like new. He immediately started to hang when connecting, so I thought, well I'll go for a complete restoration of the system. I followed the procedure using the disks provided with the machine, and that's when it stopped working completely. I felt that this was more than the aging than HARD drive could take.
My attempts at rejuvenation have actually caused his untimely death? Or is there a difficulty - something I could undertake?
Or should I just bite the bullet and go and buy a new machine? When everything (screen, keyboard and trackpad) worked so well, it seems a shame...
Any help or thoughts welcome. Thank you
If you really want to resurrect, you could certainly purchase a new hard drive and try to restore the system of work using the recovery media - but then, even if it did work, you would have still lost all your data, settings, and applications in the process - and having to reinstall all your applications everywhere again.
Hey, don't feel bad, I'm guilty of this too - has recently attempted to resurrect an era Tablet XP PC so that it can run Win10! He went from XP to Vista, Win7, for Win8 - and along the way, gains of new memory and drives hard - but the Win10 bet was too. So, I got to a "give up to use it.
However, I also kept a cell phone 5 year alive by replacing the HDD with a SSD and adding more memory. So now it is faster than ever, it has been and works like new.
But... He has NO touchscreen, there no USB3 ports, it doesn't have 1 GB ethernet - and the list goes.
Thus, it works very well for what we use it for - but it can't really be upgraded, so sooner or later, we will have to replace it.
Everything depends on how much you need 'new' - touch screen, stylus, handwriting, camera, 3 USB ports, display port jack, HDMI ports... etc.

Message came that said my copy of Vista can be victim of piracy and go online to validate that, I did it because I have been using this OS for more than 3 years on a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit p2000 series. a few hours later my computer said it needed to restart and once it restarted it has a black screen with a message that he was trying to repair. It could not be repaired so he asked if ok to go to a restore point and clicked on Yes. I get the message that my copy is not genuine and my computer wants to restart once again, but I'm the delay of four hours. I did the command line to try to restart the service and access has been denied. 0x80070426. I found an ad on the forum and tried the steps there, but he failed. Mistake was 54. http://social.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/genuinevista/thread/de089d6e-63b4-4D6E-b955-30bb8e9525d3. I had to contact support and have been waiting for more than 24 hours for assistance. My Control Panel opens and goes away, but I could remove tweetdeck which is among the most recent installations of software I did before this all happened. I am also running xampp on my desktop and I tried to put in place a virtual host by using a different port - could not get that to work and changed the host to the original file. Could it be the problem? I hope I did not reinstall my OS and destroy my computer :-(I also ran Microsofts diagnostic tool and write it here:

ebflute
Hello Ebflute,
I suggest that you perform a repair installation.
Repair facility:
You can reinstall your copy of Vista while keeping your files, settings and programs by performing a repair install or an upgrade on the spot with the following steps: (Note: this still does not resolve all problems, especially if the corruption was caused by a 3rd party program or service, you may need to do a clean install) (if this is not successful.)
<><><><><><><><><><><><>
Please make sure that you back up all the important data before you continue. Please visit: methods for your backup files.
Always make sure that you have the means to reinstall your programs, or by an installation disc or access to the installation files.
<><><><><><><><><><><><>
1. Insert the Windows installation disc in your computer's DVD or CD drive. You must start Windows installation while running your existing version of Windows.
2. on the Install Windows page, click install now.
3. on the get updates for installation page, we recommend getting the latest updates to help ensure a successful installation and to help protect your computer against security threats. You will need an Internet connection to get the installation updates.
4. on the Type your product key for activation , we strongly recommend that you type your 25-character product key in order to avoid problems during activation.
5. on the page Please read the terms of the license , if you accept the license terms, click I accept the terms of the license.
6. to the which type of installation you want? page, click upgrade to begin the upgrade. You can see a compatibility report.
7 follow the instructions.
Note: If your installation disc doesn't include SP1, and you are updated, then you must uninstall it before proceeding with an update install. Start-> Control Panel-> programs-> see installed updates, then select Service Pack for Microsoft Windows and click on Uninstall.
Note: Tit the following settings is reset by default:
Its computer system
Device drivers
Visual effects
Windows Mail
Windows services
If you notice missing files after the upgrade, look in the following folders:
C:\Windows.old
C:\$INPLACE.~TR
C:\$WINDOWS.~Q
These files can be eliminated with disk cleanup as "records destroyed by upgrade to Windows".
Delete files using disk cleanup

Failure of KB967912 Windows Vista updated 10 x today and the computer can't access internet
My new ACER Vista Office tried to install this update 10 x, today. It started while I was working this afternoon. Until that moment, I had a complete connectivity via a cable CAT5e LAN accessing a router and cable modem. Later, I lost the first internet and local network access. Before that, I had worked with Firefox, Windows Media, and financial software and everything was accessed successfully the ' net. Then, I tried to configure Microsoft Outlook 2007 to get my email. His inability to access my cable provider was the first idea I had that I didn't have connectivity.
Each time, I had the exclamation point on the stop switch and Vista stops with the view that he was installing "Update 1 of 1. However, whenever I rebooted the update didn't install. Also, I had to restart my modem and router every time to regain access to the internet for short periods of time; in less than 4 to 7 minutes, all access to the internet is lost again. The error code was Code BC2 the last couple of times, but before that I also got error Code 80200053 when an Office update also failed to install. (I was able to install the Office update successfully, after another restart and cycle the modem to regain power connectivity).
Help! FYI, I had to find another computer even to post this question!

So far there are problems or there are many who have this problem?
Have you tried to disable temporarily running anti-virus software?

Windows Vista SP2 fails to install and Windows Firewall will not stay
Hello, I have problems with Vista 64-bit, it will not install service pack 2 and Windows Firewall will not stay. I tried to manually enable ICF manually and it won't turn. It gave me error 6x9D. I ran several antivirus scans malware byte and pc cleaner pro 2012 and the issue has not been resolved. If I could get help would be much appreciated. Thank you
Hello
What do you use for security?
If you are using an Internet Security Suite, it will have its own firewall and disables the default Windows Firewall.
And you should have only one firewall to avoid problems related to the operating system.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
You have not installed SP1?
If so, try a direct download of SP2.
Vista SP2 64-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17669
And if you have any problems:
There is a Forum that Microsoft has put in place for problems with Vista Service Packs. If repost you the Forum they will definitely try to help you here...
