Windows Vista will not install updates.
I came across Best Buy, bought the first thing I have seen & to the left. It's just the small things. My main PC is myPC music recording studio (never online) so for my this, that I bought... I don't care.
a m9402f 7.00 GB 64-bit system quad-core 2.30 Ghz procesor. On the 626 GB on the 'C' drive, I only used GB 129. I don't know why I've bothered w/a Seagate external extreem HD 1000GO? Works great, I've never used one before Vista but works very well.
Thus, recent updates do not keep install . What's up with the updates? What is happening with this? Should I just go buy Windows 7? I spend hours looking for solutions and never ask for help, but this time I am so tired so I'm going to ask. Below are updates that keep a failure... Notice they're on SP2 * and IE8. My PC alread had installed SP2. I tried an update for this. I have switch from IE 7 to 8. I don't see any other reasons.
Maybe I'm missing something?

A LOT of these updats were on UPDATE SP2 which was on my computer when I bought it, but they do not work...
Others have to do with the "compatibility issues" for 32-bit web sites.
.. and yes my stuff Adobe, Flash and Java are all kept up-to-date too. Please keep in mind, I know how to get to these files support and update history and try to update manually and with each of them, the research questions and check forums, so I spend a lot of time doing this. A lot of information is not new.
Speaking of a new VISTA user... My C drive has a file that says "Program Files (x 86) and this is where I go for all.» What is it? It was my first VISTA computer. So forgive me... I'll tell you something about the music industry, but forgive me this ignorance. Other folders have programs in the files of "program" and identical named files... What is so special about this (X 86)... I'm in 64-bit and sometimes still in 32 bit? capacity?
My computer is compatible for Windows 7... should I go and buy and put an end to this? I could put it apart for just photo software stuff... Let me see it done 7 computers in the House. sheeesh! Thank you... it's me now to lock up.

Hello, I run the servers at my work, and systems are 64-bit. It would be just that sometimes your system needs to do things differently running 32-bit. Not sure why they choose to divide them, but that's how it is on my servers.

Restored Vista will not install updates
I have an old laptop (from 2008 or 2009 I think) with Windows Vista. A few weeks ago, I restored the computer to see if it would be a bit faster still.
But after restoring I have big problems with the installation of programs. I was able to install Firefox and antivirus (Avast) with no problems, but other programs - such as versions updates to Adobe Reader and Flash player and Libreoffice - will not be installed at all. I can download files facility but when clicking on it nothing happens. I checked the Task Manager, so they are not running in the background.
I also face similar problems with Windows update. It is stuck on the installation of Vista SP1. It is said that the installation can take a large amount of time and it may restart the computer several times, but what installation it goes very fast (without rebooting) and said that the installation is complete. But when you search for new updates of SP1 is still there and not installed.
Hello
Many programs will not install unless you have SP2, as part of their minimum requirements for install.
Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.
It will also tell you which SP you have installed.
Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, installation of SP1 first if it is not already installed.

Hi webchikk61,
· Did you do changes on the computer before the show?
· (Numbers KB) updates you install?
Follow these methods.
Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software .
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 2: Put the computer in a clean boot State to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the link step 7 to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.
Method 3: You can also manually install updates (KB number) by downloading from the Microsoft Download Center.

Method 4: Follow the steps in the article.

Another problem of Installation of Service Pack 1 of Windows Vista - will not install
Hey guys, a greeting from Belgium in my first post.
I recently reinstalled my Windows; This is a Home XP and a Vista Edition Home Premium (updated, so I need to install XP first).
When I got it setup XP, which goes perfectly to SP3, I switched to Vista. All the small updates installed outside for a few "failures" caused by Vista stop updates itself, because they were not absolutely necessary. When SP1 popped up, I decided to download both and see other things, but when you try to install through Windows Update I get the error message "this update cannot continue while some services are still in use" or so, I don't remember the exact message or code.
When I downloaded the SP1 on the Microsoft site, it worked better and smoother then Windows Update but also to is crushed when the progress bar has been a little more than half. Yet once again, I don't know the exact code but I do not know the message: "update cannot continue because of an internal problem.
That's what I tried:
-Retry it 40 times
-Try in safe mode
-Turn off all the other third part of the programs, including Win Defender
-Tried the system update tool
-Keep hopeThat's what I did afterwards:
-Save all my settings
-Rebooted and selected the dualboot XP
-Formatted the separate partition holding the part of the dualboot Vista
-Reinstalled on the same partition with the recommended settings, no changeI would like to have an answer soon, people. I would be incredibly grateful if this could be resolved. Future changes may include error codes given.
Hello Fallycrom,
Thank you for using the Microsoft Answers forums. We have the exact error message and the error code to help you. I suggest you check that you don't have any unknown hardware. Windows xp will not install updates
I did steps 1 - 10f... updates of windows will still not installed. Stopped after attempting the installation of the update.
1. IN the stop step #9 => did you uninstall .NET Framework 4 Client Profile , or you go to step # 10 has?
2A. When you started to see #10f, were KB2570947, KB2616676, KB931125 (update root certificates) & the Malicious Software Removal Tool , the selected updates to be installed?
2B. what (s) [including any error number] you got during the installation of the system failed?

Notwithstanding these questions...
OPTION A: Visit the Microsoft Solution Center and antivirus security for resources and tools to keep your PC safe and healthy. If you have problems with the installation of the update itself, visit the Microsoft Update Support for resources and tools to keep your PC updated with the latest updates.
OPTION B: There is a good chance that you see the effects of a hijackware infection!
NB: If you had no installed anti-virus application or subscription has expired * when the machine was first infected * or your subscription has expired since or the machine is not kept fully corrected in Windows Update, don't waste your time with any of the below: go to OPTION C below. A repair install won't help!
Microsoft is sponsoring free, online (third!) for questions: http://supportservices.microsoft.com/support/services/virus_malware_removal
OPTION C: Your misguided use of Wise Registry Cleaner, cleaner CCleaner registry and/or Ashampoo may have "screwed the dog" here.
Follow the instructions in this post of mine in another forum (to-the-letter & in order!) to restore your computer to a State safe & functional: http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=44636

Update of Windows 8 will not install updates pending.
When troubleshooting windows8 update I received this message:
This applies to the error codes:
WindowsUpdate_8024a000
0x8024a000
My problem is twofold - 1) waiting for updates will not be installed. (2) I sometimes get a message re being on a connection counter culminating in the W8 update not to continue with the process.
I tried the process of troubleshooting as a user, and then as a Director, sometimes that translates an off "one" solution However, the next time I try I have the same problem all over again. Can you help me please?

Windows Vista will not be updated to Service Pack 2 with the access denied 0x80070005 error
I bought a new computer, and it came with Windows Vista Home Basic SP1. I've updated every day and a great success until this. When I tried to install after pressing accept on the license agreement screen, when it says computer preparation. I get an error indicating that the Installation has failed. I also tried some work around and find myself without success. So far, I turned my (even uninstalled), kaspersky internet security ran system update tool, disable most of the startup process, reset the permissions in my registry and created a new user with privileges to administrator, but when I access the user created recently, after the box at the top left corner that says personilizing (in the classic windows theme) need me just a blue screen error-free. But I can still access the Task Manager and its been like that since.
And I also did an accesskchk command that noted:

My PC Windows Vista can't find info from device driver to install my new Palm Centro. I downloaded the latest version of the Palm software. Any ideas? Thank you!
What version of Vista you have? 32-bit or 64-bit?

Windows Vista will not install new updates after installing SP2
Hi, I have a problem with the update of my windows. It started after a fact a factory reset. Here's the history:
I have a some what old laptop (8 years). It came with a Vista installed with service pack 1 installed at the factory. Over the years, I did a few factory resets (every 2-3 years). I never had problems up to now. What is happening now is that I can not exceed SP2. I tried two different ways, none of them worked. After the reset, I first uninstall a bunch of stupid programs that came with the laptop, and then defragment and then have two ways to proceed. I tried to use windows update, installed more than 100 updates, updates install held until finally I offered service Pack2, installed successfully but then no more updates were offered. Then I tried a different approach - a new reset, uninstall, Defrag, and then downloaded and installed SP2 directly from the Download Center. And again the same thing happens. From the SP2 installation I check updates, download the new update agent and nothing happens after that. He keeps looking for new updates all day (about 50% of the processor by using all the time).
I read some articles and discussions but could not find anyone with the same problem (most of the users reported some error codes which is something I can't do). I tried the fix tool - it does nothing! Whenever I run it, it is mistakes - sometimes 2, sometimes up to 5. Sometimes, it makes account all fixed, other times that it reports missing or corrupt files do not set. Whatever the results if I restart and when I try to check for updates again it is still the same story.
Also I tried to install it manually IE9 as soon as SP2 is installed (I understand that this is not supported under SP1) but the installation fails. I expected to be available in updates, but as I don't get updates I tried to install it myself. Not sure if it's related (although I guess it is), but the Defender is not able to verify new definitions either.
Any suggestions? Maybe the registry is damaged or some of the files using the update agent is are corrupt? There are currently no antivirus program installed that could block whatever it is. I haven't touched Windows Firewall somehow everything must therefore be attributed to the default values.
You understand is that? I came across exactly the same problem... restoration of an old book to give to a family member, and every time I came to the point of installing SP2 and a more recent windows update agent just after, I couldn't install more updates. It would block 'check updates' forever. Tried twice, same problem. However, I tried some things differently the third time and exceeded the question.
Let me know if you still need help, and I will respond with what I've done.

For the iPod, you must download and install the iTunes software. For other devices, you will need to find and download the drivers from the manufacturer - if the keyboard and mouse came from Logitech for example, download the drivers from Logitech.

Windows Vista will not see Seagate 320 internal drive to format
I bought a 320GB Seagate (7200 RPM) opportunity and I'm trying to install Vista on it. The computer BIOS sees the drive, but loading Vista it does not show the HD as an external drive and ask drivers for it. The disk has been previously formatted for Mac.
Try to use SeaTools for Windows. See also: Seagate Installation Assistance
Please note that the hard drive needs to be internally mounted inside the computer because Windows Vista will not install on an external hard drive.
