It is a Windows installation. Research on this error suggests a solution to remove the CCP directory under the local profile, but it did not work. Tried to run the tool on a number of machines as well behind the firewall/proxy and using an unsecured connection, but always fails. Very frustrating. That's where I download the last PAC called CCPLauncher, although I also tried the version on the LWS site with same bad results. Any help much appreciated.

  • My hard drive went bad so I bought a new. I installed Windows Vista and everything works until I try to install SP1...

As I said in the title, my hard drive went bad on my Dell XPS 420.  I was running 32 bit windows vista service Pack 2 since the last time my hard drive gone bad.  The first time I replaced my hard drive I used the cd of Windows Vista install with cd drivers and using automatic updates of windows.  In a few hours, I had my pc up and running.  But with this record, it's a completely different story.

I did the same thing with her.  Installed Windows and drivers as before and I go ahead and do the automatic updates.  Everything is okay until I get to point when I download and install windows Service Pack 1.  I download, install and it seems to work very well.  Then it restarts to complete the installation and configuration.  After about 30 minutes of this, he finally said service pack error.  Restoration of the changes.  He then takes 30 minutes more to do.  After that, I get a screen saying that Windows does not start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.  Follow-up by telling him to use the windows cd repair section.
I did this 3 or 4 times to do different techniques.  I did it with the automatic windows update.  Manually as an administrator.  After using the analysis tool in Windows Vista and in another way when restore you some files.  I am about to throw my pc because I've probably spent nearly 10 hours of messing around with it and honestly it's not my time unless there is ANOTHER way that deserves to be tried before I "Offices" of the thing.
Honestly, I think I read every article on this subject online.  If I type in service pack 1 and vista online I went to all the links on the first 10-12 pages...
If anyone has AN idea please let me know.  Yes, I would like at the office space that it but it would also be good to have another pc with a new hard drive...
    Thank you.

  • Windows Vista update error 80080005.

I just bought a new laptop.  I ran windows update and after you download 34 updates, it installed 14 then asked me if I wanted to install IE 8.
I clicked No. (or remind me later), and then I was forced to do a reboot.
During the restart, he installed the updates, but gave me an error saying that he had to go back.

After about an hour, I was able to connect again, but when I went to redo the windows update I got an error code 80080005.
Now I can't even on wireless internet or really do anything.

    How can I fix it?

Remove the Vista updates; two ways to do this:

    1. a System Restore to before the updates:

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > System Restore > restore time/choose your own date > next

If you use Norton, disable it before using the system restore.

In addition, you can do this way:

    2. click on start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > updates installed in the lower left corner in the next window

    > then click the one that you don't want > uninstall will appear at the top > uninstall it.

In addition, on the page where you clicked "Installed updates", click on change settings at the top left corner it

    > Change update settings in the next page of AutoUpdate to "check for updates but let me choose etc" > OK ".

When you take a look at pending updates, you can either download/install them one at the time, namely the bad.

    > or if you do not need an individual > right-click on > UAC prompt > hide it

Post back with update KB number, you are having problems with.

  • Installed Vista Update 1 package and now windows will not start

I have a laptop Acer Aspire 4520 with a 32-bit system 64 x 2 dual core processor with Windows Vista Home Premium and just installed explorer8 updates Vista I get the package. Installed successfully, took about 45 minutes. Tells me to restart my computer. Click on restart. It restarted with goin' through bunch of # s as the first part 24 390 / 74 280 in growing in order to achieve the final number that it stopped at about 34 761 or something like that for over an hour.  I assumed that it froze. I did a hard closed down and after reboot door top, unable to start Windows.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause and options to start windows normally or start the reboot system (recommended).  I chose normally, microsoft corporation logo came on screen with progress/cargo in addition to this box, and then it turns off and rebooted itself.  This time I chose the launch startup repair and he went to remove some threads or something and add as 9 things that did not file names.  He said he was doing a CLNDSK?  It was the only time he's done this. Now, either you the hit button brings up a blue screen that says "a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down windows to avoid damaging your computer."  If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer.  If this screen appears again, follow these steps: ensure that new anuy hardware or software is properly installed.  If it is a new installation, ask your hardware manufacturer or software, the windows updates, you might need.  If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software.  Disable the BIOS memory options such as implementing caching or shading.  If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select Safe Mode.  Technical information: * STOP: 0x0000C1F5 (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0 x 0000000 0x00000000) is once again this whole message on a blue screen in which you can proceed to any other, but to stop the machine.  I even tried the advanced, including Boot Options: repair your computer, safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt Mode Mode Mode, boot logging, enable video low resolution (640 x 480), last good known Configuration (Advanced), Directory Services Restore Mode, Debug Mode and start Windows normally.  Disable the automatic restart on system failure works.  Another option is the F2 key on startup.  I CAN'T go near a window to start it's totally out!  And I do NOT have a disk of Vista, that it came with it.  Need solutions before I go out my hair.  (Good operating system until the download and I only downloaded this because I download Adobe Flash Player 11.2 problems and I thought about updating my Windows can help)  Ready to take this computer back unless it is quickly fixed.

  • Bad patch after automatic update: Windows will not start

I am running a 32 bit Windows Vista and my automatic updates recently installed "major updates", but there must be one which is mess up my computer. Fortunately, I was able to do a restore of the system on my computer right before when the updates are installed, my computer is working again and the error code that was spotted in the restoration of the system was that there was a bad patch. Updates were: KB2288613 (a security update for microsoft office 2003), KB2347290, KB975558 KB981322 KB2141007 (all updates for windows vista security) and KB905866 (update for windows mail junk e-mail filter).

I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem with these or any other patches automatically downloaded? I restored my computer so that it will continue to work for me, but I can't keep ignoring important updates for my computer. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem and to keep my computer don't step back after an update? Would be trying to download one at a time (then by restarting after each download) in order to remove the update is causing the problem to the best idea at this stage? Maybe that way I can just ignore than AN update...

  • Windows Vista update, constantly offering the same updates

Well, the title of my post was just to make things seem worse than they really are. But I think it's a bug, not less.

I just installed Windows Security Essentials. "Windows Update" keeps me showing that there are both updates optional available through the installation of "Windows Security Essentials". They are updated definition for this software. They are two 3.7 MB. KB, KB2310138, numbers are both the same, but the details see the numbers of different virus definition. The definition of a 1.97.1086.0 and the other is 1.97.840.0. If I install one updates it installs correctly and everything is fine, except that Microsoft Update tells me there is 1 additional optional upgrade for me to install which is annoying and misleading. If I install "both" the KB2310138 updated simultaneously or in succession he confused Windows Update all together and go back to square 1 saying that there is 'optional' 2 updates I can install it. I don't know what is happening, but there is definitely a bug in the middle of all this chaos.

Maybe someone could tell me if these "Windows Security Essentials" definition updates are cumulative, so that if you later you don't need all the updates of prior definition or are non-cumulative? Thank you.

On 13 April, I fist notice this problem. I managed to it is resolved according to restore my computer to a previous point prior to the windows vista update have been installed.
