  Your PC may be infected with the new variant of Sirefef AKA Zero access is.  One of the problems is that the downloads are identified (wrongly) as a virus... and it will be often disable and prevent installation of various anti-malware programs.

  Method 1

  Determine if the Windows Installer engine works

  (a) clickStart type cmd in the Search box and press ENTER to open a command prompt window.

  (b) at the command prompt, type MSIExec , and then press ENTER.

  (c) if the MSI engine work, there must be no error message. If you receive an error message, note the error. If you are proficient in the use of search engines, you can use the error message to help locate additional content to solve the problem.

  (d) try to install again.

  Method 2

  Make sure that the Windows Installer service is not set to disabled

  1. clickStart , type services.msc in the Search box and press ENTER to open Services.

  2. right click on the Windows Installer service, and then click Properties.

  3. If the box Startup type is set to Disabled, change it to Manual.

  4. click OK to close the Properties window.

  5. right click on the Windows Installer service and then click Start. The service should start without errors.

  6. try to install again.

  If you use a 32 bit Vista copy then any upgrade must be run from the Vista desktop.

  I guess you wanted to ask how to solve the problem. If then all in Safe Mode you can use system restore to set up Windows to a point when the problem did not exist.

  I am including instructions below a scan to help repair the system files related to some components of Windows, including Windows Media Center, and Windows Media Player.

  Repair Windows Vista Media Center files

  You can use the following steps to repair files that are part of Windows Vista Media Center:

  1. click on the Start menu, choose all programs, then Accessories, then right-click on the item to the command prompt and select run as administrator

  2. click on continue to allow it to open a prompt with administrator privileges

  3. run this command in the cmd prompt: sfc/scannow

  4. the cmd prompt should list text stating "start system analysis. This process will take time. »

  5. wait for the scan to complete (this may take several minutes, so be patient).  This command will scan all protected system files and attempt to replace the incorrect versions by appropriate Microsoft versions

  6. once the analysis is complete, the SFC tool will indicate whether or not it found no problems and whether or not he was able to correct

  7. If any errors are reported that SFC could not resolve, there are steps in this knowledge base article which explain how to locate and attempt to correct errors

  8. after fixing errors that are found, try to use Windows Vista Media Center again.

  Fix Windows Vista Media Center registry entries

  Unfortunately, there is no easy way to fix key/registry values that are installed by Windows Vista, as there are files.  If you want to try to repair the registry values/keys that are part of Windows Vista Media Center, you will need to re-run the installer of Windows Vista operating system and repair the operating system.

  I was pulling my hair re the incompatibility of iCloud and Outlook of Office 365 2016.  I finally got things to work on three of my computers - which are on the latest version of Windows 10.

  The steps that worked for me:

  (1) uninstall the plugin iCloud (what version you have); the uninstall may fail but if so don't worry as step 3 below overlays some iCloud plugin version you have installed

  (2) open the Control Panel, uninstall, change/repair Office 365; Select fast repair

  (3) reinstall iCloud plugin (version 5.1), then restart the system by following the instructions

  (4) after the reboot, plug in iCloud application Apple ID and password; Make sure that you enter your apple with the suffix icloud.com ID (e.g., [email protected])

  (5) check the iCloud options to your will (e.g., photo synch, synchronization of bookmarks, sync mail/calendar, etc.)

  (6) check apply it, leave the work plugin iCloud for a minute, when he finishes, check the closing

  (7) open Outlook 2016 and check your calendar or contacts or anything that you indicated in step 5, that you want to synchronize with iCloud.com

  Also, if I do another target second deployment to the station as "My TestStand system B", all LabVIEW files in my previous installation for "My system TestStand" disappear from the directory (c:\Program Files\My TestStand system) target.
