Alas...

As the forums MS Answers does not prompt for any information system when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system.

Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

Click Start, run and enter the following command:

regsvr32 appwiz.cpl

Click OK and you should see a message like this:

DllRegisterServer in successful appwiz.cpl

Restart and see how things look now.

  • Add or remove programs will not fill

In Control Panel, click Add/Remove programs. Nothing, just white.

    Add/Remove Programs does not - start > run > regsvr32 appwiz.cpl [Enter]

If it works, you are finished. Otherwise:

By Ramesh MVP, one of the most frequent causes for Add/Remove programs being blank is that a recent installation/uninstallation routine may have deleted the contents of the registry key of any 'uninstall' here:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Each subkey stores the display name, UninstallString information related to the program you have installed. Open Regedit.exe and navigate to the above key. Check if the "Uninstall" key is empty (contains no subkeys). In this case, your best best is to restore the system state by using System Restore. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Add/Remove Programs does not work with some programs in XP

Why add and remove program does NOT work on some programs. These are programs on a computer that was created using a process of the image. Like ghost?

If you have a third party app that will not uninstall, I think I might check the support page for this application and see what they have to say about it.

Some AV products have obtained quite complicated that add/remove programs is not the recommended way to remove them, so some companies have developed their own removal procedures and some have special programs to manage their affairs.

First, click on the link below and download the appwiz.cpl file, save it to your desktop. Right-click on the file and choose copy. Click on start > run > type x:\windows\system32 (x is the letter of your main generally c drive). In a free space in the system32 folder, right click and choose Paste. If you receive a prompt to replace the existing file, click Yes.  Restart your computer and try to access Add/Remove.

  • Add/Remove Programs does not locate all my programs installed after the replacement of hard disk

I recently had to replace the hard drive of my laptop.  We have cloned the original on the new hard drive.  The programs are all visible in Windows Explorer in the directory program files.  However, they are in the utility "Add/Remove Programs".  I can't open the program in exe files.  I am told by the manufacturer of software, in one case, I need to uninstall the program and reinstall it.  I can't uninstall it without the Add/Remove utility (or can I?)  Thanks for your comments

    Hi mick davidson,.

  • Add/Remove program does not

When I bring up Add/Remove Programs, I have two entries that correspond to the two programs that are no longer on my drive.  When I click on the Add/Remove button, nothing going on other than the refreshing window.  When I try to use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility, I'm not either of the programs in the list.  I think (it's been awhile now and I didn't keep any notes) that they have been installed from Visual Basic 2008 Special Edition.  While this does not seem to hurt, it's annoying because I want to test the installation and am constantly adding and removing programs. b

After some research on the registry, I discovered that both programs in question did not appear in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\current\Uninstall that fills the Add/Remove list, but in \HKEY_USERS\\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall (and same string to HKEY_CURRENT_USER...)  I guess that everything that I have to do is delete the two entries here, but I have not yet tried.  I suspect, but do not yet know, it's the solution to my problem.

  • How to uninstall Firefox if Add/Remove Programs does not work?

My Firefox is completely insensitive. I can't get a browser or anything like that. I just caught the application folder and thrown in the trash, because add/remove program did nothing. Also, I can not download the latest version of Firefox. He tries, but then said: "your download was interrupted.

How can I make sure that I have deleted ALL the old Firefox and what can I do to download a new?

You can also download the complete file if loading from a flash drive (or do it in any case, as the stub Installer has problems on some systems).

  • By the opening, but the display of messages is not displayed

This happens about 90% of the time. I turn on my computer, it goes through its commissioning, and then I run the Mail application. Mail opens and the display of the messages window flashes as if it opens, but it doesn't. The application is launched, but even if I choose "Display messages" in the menu window, it does not appear. I must leave the mail and run it again to see my mail. Kind of annoying. The same kind of problem sometimes occurs with Messages and Messages window.

Any suggestions? It's not like I'm throwing these while for the system to load again, and they are not defined open automatically at startup. Could this be the problem?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

  • Update Windows says that my updates failed, but the list of updates shows them as a success

Receipt of notice of updates of Windows. I opened the Control Panel of configuration/Windows Update screen and there was six recommended updates Important and two optional. I selected the six plus one option for Windows Live Add-in update. I installed updates and restarted my system. I checked the status of the installation of the system by opening the Control Panel of configuration/Windows Update screen. It showed that my updates failed, but when I click view update history, each of the update Important/recommended six succeeded. It there was no indication whether the Office Live Add-in was successful or not. Should I believe that the screen Control Panel of configuration/Windows Update that says my updates failed or should I believe the view update history which shows updates as a success.

Also, you will probably need to do this:

The Windows Installer CleanUp utility deletes all files and registry settings associated with the configuration of Windows Installer of a program.
