Windows XP can't find MSCONFIG, but I can SEE it in the right place!
Dear anyone.
I can SEE MSCONFIG in the right place - it's here.
C:\Windows\pchealth\helpctr\binaries
Directory.
Thing IS - XP does not. If I click on it, directly from the folder above, it starts and runs like a dream. If I go to start/run and type in msconfig, it tells me that it can't find it.
OK, I created a shortcut and click the shortcut so problem solved this way - but I would like to know windows WHY himself can't find it even if it is in its folder right and if it could mean there are other things upward with my Windows I don't know! (Paranoid Pete calling!)
I am using Windows XP - love dinosaurs, me! -SP3 on a PC with a motherboard a Foxpro Quad Core.
If all goes well your
Chris.
Well done!
One shot, one dead.

anesvet,
I'm going to sound like I'm repeating myself tonight... (see previous 4 posts...) but try this:When you start start pressing F8 until you get the Windows startup options. Then try "Last known good configuration" see if that helps. If this does not work, try to F * then try to go to Safe Mode. If those who do not help, I would start with your XP CD to recovery mode and run "chkdsk/r" then "sfc/scannow". QQ learn manage!

My laptop with Windows 7 (64-bit) can not see the other desktop PC running Windows XP via a wireless connection, except if it is plugged into my laptop so only I can see them on the network.
I checked all the working groups to ensure that all are the same. However, when my laptop into Wi - Fi, I could see the other wired desktop PC by specifying the network path in "search programs and files" to the start menu in the Windows 7 laptop, I was able to add network folder by specifying the drive letter for the connection and file I want to connect via a right click on the network to connect a network drive...
Then, finally I can access any other desktop pc wired to shared folder via the Wi - Fi by this method.
But I still don't see them on eventhrough network I can access by this method. Please help me solve this problem.
Hi Hkway,
- You are able to see the Windows 7 machine Windows XP computer when connected through wireless and if it is accessible through network?
First of all, check if the NetBIOS protocol is installed on your Windows XP computer. To install the NetBIOS Protocol, follow these steps:
1. click on start, click on Control Panel and then double-click network connections.
2. right click on the card that you want to add NetBEUI to and then click Properties.
3. on the general tab, click on install.
4. click on Protocol and then click Add.
5. Click to select NetBIOS protocol in the list, and then click OK.
6. restart your computer.
Also make sure that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled in the Windows XP computer. To do this, follow these steps.
Turn on NetBIOS over TCP/IP
1. click onStart, click on Control Paneland then click on network connections and Internet.
2. click onnetwork connections.
3. right click onLocal area connectionand then click Properties.
4. click onInternet Protocol (TCP/IP)and then click Properties.
5. click on the tabgeneral and then click Advanced.
6. click on theWINS tab.
7. underNetBIOS setting, click Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP, and then clickOK twice.
8. click onclose to close the local area network connection properties dialog box.
9. close the network connections window.
After following the above steps, check if you can access the computer Windows XP of Windows 7 computer using the wireless connection.
I hope this helps. Let us know the results.

My direct mail is sorted in alphabetical order by family name, but now, when I add a new contact, it is positioned at the top of the list instead being placed in the right place alphabetical. How to load the list of contacts to organize all contacts, including contacts, in alphabetical order by family name?
E-mail address is removed from the privacy *.
My direct mail is sorted in alphabetical order by family name,
It is not clear what you mean by this statement.
- There is an option in the contacts window in kind (names) of > name -is that what you mean?
- Or that, when you open / switch to the contacts window, you see a list sorted by last name?
- Or that when you click on to... or start typing in the to... box in a message composition window, you see a list ('contact selector') sorted by family name?
Only in contact with an e-mail address will appear in the "Chooser". The list includes names in alphabetical order. For contacts with a first name and a registered name , the list will be sorted based on the preference granted to sort by in the Contacts window. Contacts with multiple email addresses will appear once for each address with the address in brackets after the name.
Name is a special value built by WLMail contact data fields. It will consist of the first match found during the analysis of the data fields in the following order:
- Nickname
- First name + last name (in the order specified to sort by in the Contacts window)
- First name or last name
- Company
- E-mail address
As you start typing in of... box, WLMail will present a list of matching entries in your contacts list. You can start typing username, first name, first name, company, e-mail address to a contact or any significant word in the Notes field for this contact. So, if you type bil, for example, the list that appears will include- any person whose nickname starts with Bil, e.g. Billyboy
- any person whose first name begins with Bil, e.g. of Bilbo Baggins
- anyone whose first name begins with Bil, for example Jim Bilko
- everyone whose company name starts with Bil, e.g. Billingsgate Market
- everyone with an address of e-mail from bil bil or just after a period or the ' @' symbol, for example "the bilbo at hotmail dot com" or "jim to billingsgate dot com" or "jim.bilko at hotmail dot com.
- all categories whose name contains a word starting with bil
If this does not solve your problem, please post your question in the forum dedicated to contacts in Windows Live Mail.

Vista - Windows 7 network connection. username and password is unknown.
Hello
I just got a laptop with windows 7 on it and I want to connect to my other PC for it, they are on the same network through a router. the PC can see and access the laptop without asking for a user name and password but the laptop cannot access the PC because it asks me a username and password that I don't know.
If someone could answer this question, it would be great.
HelloMaybe this can help.Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.
Group residential network = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.
Working network = fundamentally similar to previous methods of sharing that allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.
Public share = network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks. For the best newspaper of the results of each computer screen system and together all computers on a network of the same name, while each computer has its own unique name.

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions
General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .------------------------------
If your network consists only of Win 7 and you want a simple network, use it.

If you have authorization and security problems, check the following settings.
Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.
In the properties
Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.
This screen shot is to Win 7, Vista menus are similar.

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.
When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).
* Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.
* Note . There must be specific users. All means all users who already have an account now as users. This does not mean everyone who feel they would like to connect.

I saved files to fropbox of the CC of the Photoshop of the trial and now they have disappeared. I can see them in the list of recent files, but they say that they no longer exist. Any ideas as to where they went?
If the PS says that the files no longer exist, you probably renamed, moved or deleted.
Use your operating system (Win Explorer or Mac finder) to watch your Dropbox folder and veryfy that the files are there.
The fact that you are using a trial has nothing to do with it.

Original title: watch videos on media player
I have an old computer for my son with XP on it. I tried to play some movies that I downloaded, but it says that I need the right codec to play. How can I fix that I can watch these videos?
Hello
1. what version of windows media player do you use?
2. what type of media files are they?Check the following article to see if these files are supported by the Windows media player installed on the computer. If these files are not supported, then you will need to download the third-party codec to play.

It's not as if the issue is not going away. Perhaps if you focused on ONE thing first - like find all the photos on your local computer or to save all photos to your account facebook or yahoo in a folder on your desktop - it seems so overwhelming to you. All little by little.
