Windows XP crashes intermittently when stopping. Stuck on the screen with the default windows background color and the mouse pointer.

We are an OEM that systems of electronic Assembly is based, in our machine is a PC running Windows XP Professional that provides the interface for the operator. Some of our systems have begun to crash intermittently when stopping.  Up to now we have seen it on three machines.  There has been no change to hardware or drivers that we put on these machines.

The PC is supposed to stop at the point were he said "It is now turn off your computer", but it hangs when the only thing on the screen is the default windows background and the mouse pointer. The mouse moves, but that's all. He is unresponsive to ctrl-alt-delete, or any other entry.

This was reported 5 times, and in any case there's nothing in any log file which would tend to indicate where the problem is maybe.

I guess we have a bad driver or device, but the problem only happens once all stops of 5-10, and only after the machine is turned on for a while.

I just turned on the detailed status messages, but they did not stop the machine since.

What I asked is: is it possible to get windows to connect to all events stop? I really want to know what he was doing when he stopped.  Can someone else think something I can look at, or a better way to debug this?

Re: a suggestion on this new monitor to 'prove' is the source of the problem
Disconnect it, connect a type non-ecran touch "ordinary".
stop/restart in safe MODE, make sure that the old monitor is not appear in the Device Manager [what we used to call a ghost]
If it IS, delete it & uninstall the sw provided with touch screen
Reboot in normal mode
Try a stop
If you get the old orange it'S now SAFE, tell the seller about IT.

    Can anyone help!

When I start a program (for example. Sonos controller) on my laptop my mouse pointer stops working. It does not happen with all programs!

This problem happens using the touchpad only or have you noticed the freezing of cursor using the external USB mouse too?

What is the notebooks touchpad works properly without loading and using this 3rd party software?
For example, work the touchpad with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, etc.) or navigation in internet by using IE or Chrome?

My guess is that the pre-installed 3rd application part could affect the functionality of the touchpad.

  • Stop the mouse pointer to show more of Windows Media Center

    Original title: Windows Media Center

    Hello

Is there a way to stop the mouse pointer to show more of Windows Media Center, other than moving it?

I note that adobe flash player can do it in a web page, then why not an 'entire' application such as Windows Media Center?

    Thank you

    Hi hiphoppoprock,

In Windows Mode, the pointer in Windows Media center is designed to be displayed.

In order to have the pointer automatically disappear you need to change the Mode full screen.

  • How can I stop auto scroll when the mouse pointer is placed on the scroll bar

Too bad. It was a matter of Firefox.

  • Second the mouse pointer to the center of the screen of Windows 8 (office and metro) - Sony VaioT Ultrabook

After a few updates MSFT uncontrolled or without reason, the boot of Win8 poster now the gray circle or circle with the mouse pointer in the Center on the login screen of the touch screen. Try moving the pointer with touchpad shows second pointer, and the original remains flashing in the Center. By connecting to the Metro interface, the cursor of the Center remains in the Center, and it is possible to move subway tiles by dragging the screen.

When you go to the office, the pointer to the Center rest sometimes, sometimes disappears; When there, open and close the Task Manager without doing anything he removes the unwanted pointer. When removing the additional pointer in the Center, office does not respond to tap and double tap. and does not show the rectangle of the area of selection, as he usually did. However, the touch screen digitizer apparently works as the key, and touch multi-touch show shadows in the points of contact. It also allows to scroll the text in the browsers to slide the touch screen. But the zoom and the valves do not work.
I also noticed that a few seconds after that the Office will appear on the screen, the touchscreen works as he used before (look and work area selection), but they stop working after 3-4 seconds and you can only take account of the points of contact and scroll the text in browsers (no resizing)...
Device Manager displays the digitizer as 'USB input device' USB\VID_04F3 & PID_0018; It is impossible to find the name of the vendor or update the driver. The device also creates objects of device HID four children. The digitizer can be stopped and restarted from the Device Manager; upon restart, the Center pointer appears again, or a white square is displayed. Touch the place goes the arrow-shaped pointer in the gray circle of key indicator in the center of the screen. Open and close the Task Manager remove the pointer from the Center.
Sometimes, when you move a pointer 'true' with the touchpad as the arrow in the Center pointer is replaced by a helping hand or cheek two arrows.
It seems that there is an application or a service that loads with office and seizes 'touch down' messages, do not let them be served by gui. However, I don't find anything unusual in starting programs or services; Virus scan shows that the machine is clean.
I thought it might be a ClassicShell likely to interfere, but removing it does not change the behavior. Neither the removal of all the utilities of the startup list startup.

FIXED! My laptop had this problem from day one.  I found a thread where some people had fixed it by going into the properties of the mouse and two enabling paths (shortest path setting was OK and barely perceptible) or by changing the standard display cursor to enlarged (or black).  But this does NOT work for me.  Here's what worked completely:

I turned off the touch screen.  Who needs him--it was a stupid idea of Windows 8, in any case, and the compromise to solve this question "cursor ghost" was worth WAY.

Go to Device Manager.  Under Interface devices, there are 2 lines for input USB device.  (If there is more, temporarily disconnect the receiver wireless mouse or another USB input device).  Disable the first, one in right-clicked on it and selecting Disable.  And the problem is GONE!  I hope this helps.

Maybe the screen had a defect that makes act like an invisible finger relying on, or more likely, it's a Windows 8 bug affecting some machines.  In any case, it's a huge relief to see it fixed, because the cell phone was horrible, when this happened.  Good luck!

  • Screen goes black and only the mouse pointer visible to the windows xp screen

My computer has used to work without problems.  Now, when I start it upward, to the Windows XP start screen, the screen turns off and all that is visible is the mouse pointer.  I tried to start safe mode, and it does give me even the option - not even if I press F8 at startup upward.  What is the problem with my computer and what can do?

Thanks for your answers, Dena and Jojih.

The screen went black and all I could see was the mouse pointer.  There is no ameioration or changes on the hardware of all kinds.  I wonder if one of my employees has a virus on the computer.  I could not do in safe mode, even if I tried to press F8.  If I put in the Windows XP CD, the screen would go black after that he loaded the system files, just like at the start of Windows XP.  So I used Acronis PC Backup and Recovery and make a recovery disc and used to reformat the hard drive and then I reinstalled Windows XP.  Everything has been great to work for.

  • The mouse pointer does not hide when you type, even with the box checked.

Hello everyone.  I turned on the check mark in the properties of the mouse "hide the pointer during the strike".  However, the mouse pointer does not hide when typing, but instead remains visible all the time.

No one knows why this happens?  In previous versions of Windows, the pointer should simply disappear when keystrokes are typed, and then reappear when the mouse is moved.  Is not the case here!

    Thanks for any information!

    Hello

Welcome to the community of Windows Vista.

    1. what application you are working on when you encountered this problem?

Hide the mouse pointer option allows you only to remove the mouse curzor of
the focus in the working window so that the cursor does not cover the text or the pitcure you see.

Make sure that the curzor of the mouse is placed inside the app as you type, as it does not hide the mouse, if it is outside of the application.

  • The mouse pointer & open windows disappear off the screen to the right

The mouse pointer moves beyond the screen to the right and is not visible, as if the office is extended beyond the edge of the screen. Open programs or programs visible on the taskbar sometimes will, when clicked on disappear too out there and then I can't get them on the screen where I can see. If I'm lucky I can get the pointer in the right spot and can drag the back window where I can see it.

I have a 22 "h - d lcd wide screen monitor. Are there settings that I need to adjust or what?

    Thank you

You have a second monitor or a television plugged into the video card? You will need to go into your control panel of the video driver and adjust it for a single screen.

You can also try the automatic adjustment of your monitors.

  • The mouse pointer is not displayed in Windows 8.

original title: 8 the mouse pointer disappears NOT associated with the applications screen

Windows 8 64-bit running on TORDRE of Lenovo tablet 3347CTO with external monitors.

Sometimes, the mouse pointer disappears from the office.  He is always there, because I can find it by pressing CTRL (I have "use CTRL to locate mice" clicked to fix somewhere).  It will activate a program if the invisible pointer is on the icon for this program.  It reappears when you move, but only when moving.  I'm going behind the screen applications (starting) to do this. As I know it has nothing to do with any specific program.  Only way to recover is to restart the computer.  It's extremely annoying, any suggestions would be most appreciated.

I fell right on the problem.

Use the Windows key + P to pass between the double screen and return to the single screen mode and returns the pointer.

Play with the mouse settings did not help.  I think it's a problem of display driver.

    Hope this helps others.

  • Problems with clicking and scrolling when you are using the mouse in IE

Problems with clicking and scrolling when you are using the mouse

I have the same problem.  My touchscreen responds but my touchpad and mouse are unable to save a click in IE.  I need to reboot to rectify.  It seems to be more common when the laptop comes out of fashion 'sleep'.   I tried all the steps above, everything is up-to-date.

    Hello Fred,.

    Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your efforts to resolve the issue.

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:
Run the hardware and devices Troubleshooter and check. Please follow these steps:

    a. press Windows + W keys, type Troubleshooting in the search box and press on Enter.
    b. click on 'show all' and then click 'hardware and devices'.
    c. click 'Next' and then follow the on-screen instructions.

If this does not help, then use method 2.

    Method 2:
Start your computer in safe mode and check the number.
    Refer to this article:
Start settings for Windows (including safe mode)

I had the same problem. Initially, the mouse was mad for 30 seconds, but shortly after, it was worse. I switched the keyboard and now everything is ok.

Of course, the pointer of the mouse was defective. I'm sure that in your case the problem is the same.
