Windows XP does not recognize the iPhone - device not recognized error

I am running Windows XP (SP2 I believe) and whenever I plug in my iPhone I get the error not recognized USB device. If iTunes does not recognize it and I can't sync. My guess is that I'm missing or have an updated driver, but I don't know how to install. If it makes a difference, I am using a brand new MacBook Pro and Windows XP via Parallels Desktop. I don't think it's the question, though, as I used to be able to sync with my Manager (ACT!) contacts via Outlook. It seems to be simply a function of Windows is not able to identify the iPhone via USB. A simple solution would be appreciated, but I'll take complicated if that's all that's available.

Hello abogadopeter,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers community.

This question has been a known issue that seems by Parallels. I did some research and read through some of the threads for workarounds. He doesn't seem to be a conclusive solution, but works to some extent. You can take a look at http://forum.parallels.com/search.php and simply search for ipod and look through some of these institutions.

Hope this helps Chris.H

So I tried several ways to solve this problem, and I keep running into roadblocks of Windows. Help, please.

    Hi my NameJoel,

See the methods mentioned below and check if that helps.

    Method 1:
How to troubleshoot an installation fails on Windows XP Service Pack 3
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Note: A firewall is software or hardware that checks information coming from the Internet or a network. Then the firewalleither blocks information or allows information to pass to your computer. If the information is blocked or throughdepends spent on your firewall settings. A firewall can prevent malicious software (such as worms) to access your computer through a network or the Internet. A firewall can also help stop your computer from malware sent to other computers. Windows XP, Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) and Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) include firewall software.

Steps to take before you install Windows XP Service Pack 3
Note: Disable your antivirus software is not usually recommended, some software antivirus prevents certain system changing files. This can cause the Windows XP SP3 installation failure. To make sure that you manage to install Windows XP SP3, temporarily disable your antivirus software, including any third-party antispyware and firewall program. To do this, right-click on the icon for your antivirus program, and then click on disable. The antivirus program icon typically appears in the bottom right corner of the computer screen.

Important: Make sure that you enable the antivirus software after you install Windows XP SP3.

I think that the difficulty with myantispyware site is to know what type of malicious software that you have?

I have this same problem on a friends laptop - I started out in a PE environment and run a couple of different recovery CD of AV companies but the problem remains. I also tried to go back to using System Restore, but it did not work either.

On a work computer download SuperAntiSpyware Portable version from the link below save it on a USB key. Take the USB to the infected computer. Start the computer in safe mode with command prompt. Press Ctrl + SHIFT + ESC. The Task Manager opens. Click file > new task > type explorer.exe > press Ok. Navigate to the flash drive > right click > Explorer. Locate the SuperAntiSpyware file > right click and choose Run as administrator.

I met recently a few new malwares of thugs that are loaded in safe mode effectively preventing you to download or install anything. For reasons unknown to me from the computer in safe mode with command prompt and then run taskmgr explorer.exe prevents malware to load. This method has worked several times for me this week only. I was playing a game oin my 20o5 Windows XP Media Center EDition and then it froze and he died so I decided to reactivate it, but then it went to a blue screen with a code of 0 x 00000024(0x00190203,0x8AD9E0D8,0xc0000102,0x00000000) Please help me I don't know what to do

    Hello

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. are you able to boot into Windows after the Blue error screen?

    3. do you have security software installed on the computer?

This error occurs generally if there are bad sectors on the hard disk.

I suggest that you perform a CHKDSK scan on the computer by using the recovery console, which would scan for bad sectors on the hard drive will try to get it back.

    1. Insert the Windows XP CD into your CD drive and restart your computer. If you are prompted, select any options needed to start (boot) on the CD.
    2. When the text portion of Setup begins, follow the prompts. Select the repair or recovery option by pressing R
    3. When you are prompted, type the administrator password.
    4. Type: chkdsk /r and press ENTER.

When you are finished, type exit and your PC will restart and if all goes well start Windows.

Note: If there is any data on the bad sector on the hard drive, it can be lost. If you can boot into Windows, I would say that you back up the data and continue.
