Windows xp don't read not sdhc 16 GB card

I have Windows XP Professional SP3 installed on my desktop.  I have an external USB drive to read SD cards.  This works very well for 1 GB, 2 GB or 4 GB card, but when I try a 16 GB SDHC card, the computer has trouble reading.  The computer does the Ding-Dong sound as it acknowledges an external device, but then often goes dong - ding ding-dong don - ding ding dong several times in quick succession.  I can see the card in the card reader and sometimes see the files and folders inside (photos, this is a camera memory card), but I can't copy the files.  Try to block windows Explorer or causes the card to disappear from the list of available drives.  Sometimes by train to view the contents of the map crashes windows Explorer.  Sometimes, the names of the folders look like Egyptian hyroglyphics.

When I try the 16 GB card in my laptop that is running Windows 7, it works fine.

When I plug the camera directly on the desktop, it can be seen the old SD cards in the camera, but not 16 GB SD card.

When I plug the camera directly into the laptop, it can see all SD cards, including the 16 GB card.

I wonder if it is a SD card speed problem.  The 16 GB card is class 10 speed.  The smaller cards are 4 or less speed class.

Is there a patch for Windows XP that allows you to read correctly the speed class 10 16 GB SDHC cards?

Are there any third-party software and/or hardware that would allow this?

I prefer not to install windows 7 on my desktop, unless there is no other alternative.

You need a SDHC card reader (a normal card reader that reads SD cards, will not read high capacity / SDHC cards) and this

  • Combo DVD/CD DVD drive don't read not more, still reads CDs

I just popped a DVD in a CD/DVD combo drive that I use for years and he refuses to acknowledge that there is nothing on the disc.
It also seems to take a lot of time to ride.

I tried Device Manager and the "driver update", but it says that I have the best driver.

I use this drive for CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo for years and there has not been a problem. I tried several DVD-Rs serious and two commercial DVD movie discs and I get the same results as in this picture

However, I have also tried several CD - r both music and audio and he recognizes them perfectly.
I also tested the DVD in my computer Windows 7, and he recognizes them without problem. I was able to open a text file on the data DVD and see a few seconds of a film before I closed it.

I don't remember the last time I watched a DVD movie, and I think the last time I used a DVD on this computer was when I played Gate II of Baldur's, which according to the files recording was in June since I played something on CD instead.
I only burned both DVD of Baldur Gate I, II, Planescape Tormenet and Final Fantasy VII and VIII of the CED for this old computer (it came with Windows 98SE, it is NOT a new system), so it is not difficult to determine when I finally used a DVD on it.

I have not noticed problems in using the drive as a CD drive, but haven't used the cd burner appearance or the appearance of DVD player in several months. I generally use DVD data on a newer Windows 7 computer and only use it for a few old games or music that normally use the CD, even if it's the main goal is to share my parallel printer with the new Windows 7 system that does not have a parallel port and a central server for my curriculum vitae cover letters and anything else I might want to access it from my modern desktop or laptop computer.

I think it was more of a hardware issue, if it wasn't for the fact that it is reading CD without problem.

P.S. I broke out the CD/DVD cleaner lens and it has no effect.

Here are the specifications of your desktop HP Pavilion a1020n. According to specifications, your computer has been on sale on or around 06/03/2005. The SDHC specification was completed around June 2006, and the product and the support for the SDHC took time to put on the market. That your computer has been made before the introduction of SDHC, it isn't / won't be able to read / writng to SDHC or SDXC cards. To use these maps on your computer will require the use of an external USB card reader.

    Hello

Check their documentation online with the HP Support and drivers, diagnostics and ask to their
Forums about known problems. If it's the USB adapter, it can be removed/disabled in BIOS

and/or Device Manager and a used external is not that expensive.

  • Windows Vista don't read do not SanDisk 2 GB sd card

I have a vista edition windows Home premium, service Pack2. My problem is that I have a 2 GB sandisk micro sd with adapter card. When I tried to use it, a moment ago, it did not work. but I, somehow fixed. I don't remember what I did, but it worked. and now, it's the first time I am using the card in a moment and the computer does not read it. I searched online for some time and could not solve the problem. I hesitate to do a system restore or anything of the sort, because it is my grandparents computer. Finally, I came to the conclusion that the sd port can be broken, but I tried another card and it worked perfectly. The other card was also a sandisk 2GB, but this is a regular, not a microphone. I went into Device Manager and all drivers are working. I also made sure the sd card is not locked.  I don't know what to do anymore. Help, please.

  • Windows 7 don't read is not GPT data readers

    Heyo,

So I have a secondary data drive and an external hard drive, the two NTFS formatted with TPG. My primary fails HD and I replace, reinstall windows, etc. However, now this computer (and only on this computer; other Windows 7 machines very well) reads the secondary data disk to format RAW instead of NTFS and sees only the unused portion of the external data drive. I installed an update of windows designed for big HDs, update bios and drivers from the chipset.

I really appreciate all the help you can provide.

    See you soon

    Hello

You might face this problem when there is a conflict with the drive letter of the device you are trying to connect to your computer. But before that I suggest you to take the backup of the data that you have in this computer and then try to change the drive letter. You can follow the steps below for data.

    Back up your files

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/back-up-files#1TC=Windows-7

Once you have managed to take the backup of the data, you can follow the steps below to change the drive letters and then check if it helps you.

Change, add, or remove a drive letter

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/change-add-remove-drive-letter#1TC=Windows-7

If you still experience this issue you can also try to change the type of partition on the drive, but do not forget to bring it back to the top of your data by following the steps in the link provided earlier.

Convert a hard disk or partition to NTFS format

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/convert-hard-disk-partition-NTFS-format#1TC=Windows-7

Let us know the status of the issue.

    Hi willyd.

You may need to go to the folder of the computer that shows your normal hard drive to find the installed USB key.

From there, you will be able to copy the files to the My Documents folder.

If this does not work, you can check the Device Manager to see if the flash player is installed correctly.

I now have my recovery disks, but they sent the instuctions in Spanish. I do not read Spanish very well at all. I need to know if there is anythign iNeed know are to make this recovery instructions to tell me if I could read smoothly. I hope it's clear enough for yall to get what im saying lol.   Also if someone has a link to the instructions I have but in English please . Thank you for taking the time to read this and have a nice day.     (also can I just throw the disc and it will take care of itself?)  Don't want to screw up this high and still learning everything so if you have info anyu willo help I would very much apreciate. New Z'al

    You are the very welcome.

You do not have an additional drive or in addition to disks 1-4, there is one labeled accordingly.

Thus, you would have answered no to the question asking if you have an extra recovery disk.

  • my HP PC under XP Home Edition will not read my SDHC 4 GB card

My Hp desktop computer has worked with the 4gig card previoulsy and my laptop running XPPRO readingthe OK card works, BUT the bureau now hangs when I try to read from the SDHC card.

In some cases, a simple driver update will allow the card reader work with SDHC cards.  HP has a very good Web site for display of driver updates to their computers.  Just go to http://www.hp.com, click on the tab "Support and drivers", enter your computer and operating system model number and you will get a list of the latest drivers for your computer.  Check to see if there is a new card reader driver you currently have on your machine.

Do not forget that some readers of old cards will be able to read SD cards any driver is installed.

  • Computer don't read not no icon

I have an Epson Artisan 810 printer and when I insert my memory stick in the port no icon appears on the computer.  I can't view or transfer pictures to the computer.  I use Windows XP, SP3.

    Help, please.
    Thank you.
    Pat

To clairify, I guess by "insert my memory stick in the port", you mean that you insert a memory card into a slot in your printer and you say not that you insert a USB into your computer.  It is also unknown as to if your printer is connected via a USB cable or network with an Ethernet cable.  In both cases, this functionality is provided by the driver provided by your printer manufacturer.  I would recommend to UN-install your printer, then go to the Epson website and download the latest for your printer driver and follow the instructions of the manufacturer for re - install this driver.

  • Why windows 7 don't overwrite not the names of existing files

I have Windows 7. When I save a document or a spreadsheet, I want to start with a file name and add a version number to it, but Windows just replaces the original file. For example, I start with Doc1.doc and then call Doc1v3.doc. The system replaces the original Doc1.doc instead to add the version number. It is causing a bit of a mess with version control, and I'd appreciate any help to solve this problem.

I think that Office word forum would be a better place to ask.

If you change your question and select the office and section, and the version of the year.

But just as a suggestion until your question is moved.

If you use word, and you open a doc file,.

Make your changes / additions and use Save as... .and when you close word a popup appears asking if you want to save changes, click No because the word refers to the doc first not open save it under... doc.
