WINDOWS XP HOME OEM - WINDOWS EXPLORER SE FEATURES AS WINDOWS 2000

I have PC with Windows XP Home OEM version. I downloaded all updates etc is now updated with SP3. The problem is that when the navigation of folders, etc, the Windows Explorer always behaves more like Windows 2000 rather then XP is to say goto, until a level etc. which seems to suggest there may be a setting somewhere that requires XP behave more like W2K. Y at - it a fix/patch I can apply that will solve this particular problem. I want just XP to behave like XP and nothing else. Thank you.

It does not matter that Windows 7 is based on XP and not the pain in the neck Vista!

In any case I solved the problem now if someone else wants to know:

Open any folder, point to the area below the top line (of the window that says File, Edit, View)

Click with the right button and turn the STANDARD BUTTONS.

That's all... now, it is just as easy.

  • printer virtual (ThinPrint) do not install on Windows 2000 comments

Does anyone have virtual print (ThinPrint) running for a guest W2K?

I refer to the version of ThinPrint that comes with the drive.

I can't seem to get installed it.

I use VMWare Player 12.1.0 - 3272444 and VMWare tools 10.0.5.520 and attempted a "Typical" VMWare Tools installation on a W2K guest under a host of Intel 64 - bit Windows 10.  I used the admin on both sides.  The guest of W2K has disabled UAC and is always admin.

During installation, I received the following error dialog:

    RUNDLL

    Error loading tpvmmon.dll

Was asked to OK the absence of signatures on the stuff of ThinPrint.    After that the VMWare Tools installed I have restarted the prompt.

I tried to install the printer via the Add-a-Assistant printer.   ThinPrint is present in the list of printers.   I give COM1:, etc., but in the end is just says "failed".

I if "install" from the context menu of the OEMPRINT. The system INF flashes just to me.  No dialog box.  No errors.  No printer.

The only thing left to try is to create a new VM W2K and see if the problem persists.   I'll post back with the results.

Dear diary, I ended up coming back to VMWare Player 7... and printing, I'm happy to report. I'm not sure whether the installed printer drivers are product of ThinPrint.  That they are not listed as such.  But the VMWare tools install break thru without a hitch and I my print feature back.

Remind you it's easier said than done.  Here's the problem: VMWare Player 7 is still available for download from VMWare, but after install you it and it phones home page for VMWare tools, it always indicates that the update server is not responding.  According to the Wiki for VMWare Player, version 7 is no longer supported.

So how do you get the tools?

I tried to download the tools. TAR that VMWare offers, I believe than version9 dot something.  I had to find a way to decompress.  (That Windows uses. TRE?)  Then I had to make one. ISO to it so that I could mount it and present it to the player.   But it did not work.  He ran quickly and completely in silence and produces newspapers, but I couldn't figure out why she did nothing.    I have to admit that I do not exactly trying to decipher the newspapers set up.

So on to plan B, ugh: I downloaded the demo of VMWare Workstation 7 Pro, installed, saved the windows.iso that accompanies it, uninstalled, reinstalled VMWare Player 7, put the windows.iso in the root of VMWare Player installation on the host computer, modified my version 7 W2K VM settings so that my virtrual DVD player had the ISO mounted, booted up the virtual machine then I started the installation (setup.exe) tools of the virtual DVD.   (You mind, making a Manage / reinstall VMWare Tools will just try to shout to the update servers and fail.)

So I'll never be able to update the VMWare Tools, but it's OK because everything seems to be working.  I will make just a point to save this windows.iso so I don't ever have to be in this position again.

Just for the record, my exact versions are: VMWare Player 7.1.3 build 3206955 and VMWare Tools 8.4.9.30422.  The version of the tools is the one shipped with VMWare Workstation Pro 7.1.6 build 744570.

So I guess it's just a case of VMWare takes a step backward on W2K.  Maybe they will fix it in the future.   Of course I'm probably one of only a handful of people still need run W2K, so I won't hold my breath.

Thanks, Continuum, to try to help.

  • How to install Windows 2000 on Equium A200-1VO?

    Hello

    Can someone help me?

I would like to install Windows 2000 on the Toshiba Equium A200-1VO laptop, but I need the drivers to do this.
I have tried the Toshiba web page but cannot find the drivers.

    Can someone please?

    Thank you

You will not be the drivers because this Vista designed for laptop is not supported by this old operating system. Maybe you can find the drivers for Windows XP Home edition, but not for W2000.

All you can do is search for the drivers on the net and hope you have success with it.
I don't know why you would do this, but perhaps you should accept that at some point Toshiba must say stop and don't waste time with the support of the older operating system. I also believe that 0.01% people want to use this old operating system on new generation laptops.

There is no sense to make support for W2000. What do you think about this?

  • Can Portege 7200 CT - I install Windows Xp instead of Windows 2000?

    Hello

I have an old Portege 7200, Pentium III, 600 MHZ, RAM 320Mo.

I use Windows 2000, remains stable and running (you know, never touch a system running...)

However, due to new software that will work with Windows 2000 (Internet Explorer, anti-virus, software video / Cam and a little more) I need an OS-update. I have an old Windows XP-license (SP 2) and the idea of installing WinXP on this laptop.

The power system should be fine, however, I've not found anyone with WinXP on this laptop. Someone at - he live with that? It work? What I have to do a BIOS update? I have version 1.80 and found here in the care of the side a 2.0 zip file

Thanks a lot in advance - Andreas

    Hi Andreas,

Theoretically, you can install what you want on your laptop but I checked the Web from Toshiba site and it seems there are no XP driver for Portege 7200.
What does that mean? Well, you can install XP but if you the drivers you need to collect these external Web sites, such as Intel or Realtek drivers. Maybe you will find all the drivers that you need.

In my opinion the update of the BIOS should be one if it of necessary. This means that if the laptop works well, this update isn't necessary.

    I hope I could help a bit. :)

  • Satellite L10 - Hotkey.exe error after booting Windows 2000

I've installed Windows 2000 on my Satellite L10 rather
XP. After installing the utility Hotkey-I get an Error Message at every boot:

Hotkey.exe - Entry Point not found
The procedure entry point WTSUnRegisterSessionNotification could not be loaded into the WTSAPI32.dll dynamic link library.

Same error Message When you try to manually start the Hotkey.exe.

How can I solve this problem? The system works, but the
    Keys not.
Thank you in advance for help!

P.S.: As I read on the web, this error has nothing to do with the missing operating system XP - maybe the HotKey software does not work with Windows 2000. Where can I get a Hotkey software work for Windows 2000 for Satellite L10?
I try to find it on the download from Toshiba site, but there is that some drivers for the L10 on Toshiba.com and the European server are only readers for XP :(

    Hi turmeric

All the drivers, tools, and utilities are designed separately for each operating system. This means that you can not use tools designed for Windows XP Home edition with other operating system. You don't find utilities and tools because your device is not supported for the Windows 2000 operating system.
    I'm sorry.

  • Satellite 2410-504-driver Windows 2000 network missing

Where can I ask for Toshiba create a network of Windows 2000 for my PC driver laptop Toshiba 2410-504? As you can see, Toshiba 2410-504 has drivers for the two 2000 & XP. If I install XP then I get everything works perfectly. If I install 2000 then I get everything works perfectly but the network card. Somehow the Intel PRO network adapter is not detected...

You are right. LAN driver is not available for download, and I presume that driver LAN should not be installed separately. I found the info that this Satellite is supported for W2000 SP3. This means that this book must be installed with the W2000 SP3 to have all the features.

Which SP is preinstalled on your laptop?
