  • Update for Windows XP (KB2686509) security is not installed

Kb268509 update will not be installed. I get no error message #, I tried the selective startup in msconfig and disable all Microsoft services on the services tab, and I get a BIG red X saying could not check c:\windows\kb268509.log, I searched my computer, microsoft, web for failure message # and nothing. Please help summer try everything I could find for problem including microsoft fix it and no problem help. Thanks for any help. Paul * address email is removed from the privacy * .

Please open your control panel > programs feature add / remove and check that all other Windows XP updates security for may 2012 (i.e. KB2676562 + KB2695962 + KB2659262) all are listed. If only KB2686509 is missing (don't not listed as installed) you can go to your Windows directory and search for a log file named: faultykeyboard.log

You can now go to this thread (KB2686509 repeatedly fails with error 0x8007F0F4 code) where you have 3 options to resolve this problem:

    (1) glance to 2nd marked "Answer" Post (of Christian S.) and try to run its new VB Script (at your own risk - if necessary) as described in this report.

    OR...

    (2) search the marked 1st Post "Answer" (from Susan B.) and try to determine which of these scenarios you are. So far, there is - at least - three types of different errors that would make the KB2686509 update fails with error 0x8007f0f4 code,.

OR otherwise - if neither works above...

    (3) try to contact Susan Bradley (provided email in even mentioned thread) that she is wanting to offer his help in what concerns failure to comply with this update to install - as long as you have found your faultykeyboard.log file.

Hope this helps - good luck!

  • HP Broadcom WLAN Driver for Windows 8.1 update is not installed

The HP Support Assistant shows that there is a Broadcom WLAN Driver for Windows 8.1 update. The update indicates that it downloads, then the installation process starts, but never finished. I tried to update 3 times and never complete the installation.

Name of product: notebook PC HP ENVY 15 TS

8.1 Pro with Media Center 64-bit Windows

Think I found problem. I could find a list of drivers installed using the HP Support Assistant's and the Broadcom WLAN Driver listed in your reference has already been installed, I'm guessing by Windows Update. It seems that HP Support Assistant you would say this instead of simply stopping the installation. Thanks for the help on this.

  • Security for windows XP KB2633171 update is not installed

Automatic security update for windows xp KB2633171 don't settle.  I tried twice now and always used to install.  What should I do next?

I'm having the same issue. Machine is free from virus, will download the update, but gives me the same error message you receive when I try to install - is not serious if I'm in safe mode or normal mode.

I opened an incident investigation and MS is supposed to come back to me by 04:00 central time this afternoon. When I received their answer, I will let you know what a solution (if any) they come with.

  • Windows 7 security updates are not installed

I have Windows 7 Professional.  I continue to receive notifications about security updates. I have received several.  Sometimes I have 5 or 6 at a time.  They download OK, but when they attempt to install, they if at 45% and then stops and then you restore the update.  I was not able to install the last several updates I received.  What is going on?

You can reset the Windows Update components by running the Fixit on this page. But if there is malware present, she will continue to reset the connection to the update servers:

How to reset the Windows Update components

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

Suggest you download and save the Fixit. Then configure the system before the clean boot by running:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista/Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Once the Fixit has been downloaded and the system is started in the pure State, check that the native Windows Firewall is now on if a 3rd party firewall has been used previously. Now run the Fixit and choose the default mode. Restart once it's done and see if the system can be connected to the update servers. If he can't, then rerun the Fixit and choose aggressive mode. Turn it back on when he finished the race and updates.

I suggest before you stop and install the updates, disconnect from the Internet, first.

After downloading Microsoft security update for Windows XP (KB2686509) update will not install - what should I do?

I struggled with this for days. Here's what was going on and what I did that worked.

faultykeyboard.log listed 24 entries of the form kb*.kbd

I searched and no such files exist on my computer.

By running regedit and looking, I found 24 subkeys appearance abnormal corresponding to the list in:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Keyboard Layouts

After carefully reviewing the risk of damage, I discovered that the operating system automatically restore this section of the registry in the event of a boot failure.

I deleted then boldly all subkeys of the *.kbd type in the registry. I deleted faultykeyboard.log. I rebooted then ran the KB2686509 update and installed and restarted the computer.

    The problem disappeared.  Everything works.

  • KB2249857 Windows Update does not install with error code 800706BE

    Hello

On October 28, Windows Update has identified 3 updates to be installed (KB2388210, Ko 2284742 & 2249857 KB) which caused my PC hang on reboot (stuck to the ' install updates...) 1 screen 3).

Since then, I managed to install 2 of the 3 (KN2388210 & KB2284742) successfully by individually selecting in Windows Update but the KB2249857 update will not install and now whenever the PC stops it hangs while trying to install this update and needs a "hard reset" (that is, hold the power button) to recover up to.

I've seen a few posts on problems with this update, but no definitive answer or resolutions.  Any ideas?

    Thank you!
