Windows xp lock up on shut down and taking 11 minutes to start on power.

Windows xp is lock and does not power on Shut Down off.

Commissioning is in 11 minutes on power.

Starting and stopping is allowed in "Safe Mode".

But crashes at start in "Safe Mode with network" mode. "

The startup log file indicates that many drivers are not loaded.

Please, what should I do to fix this?

Hello Rodwall,

Often we see odd behavior as the result of a program from loading at startup.

To solve these, we use the clean boot troubleshooting.

The following describes this process:

I am running Vista 64 bit.

I got a ToolTip hovering over my close icon that said Shut Down and install updates.  So I clicked it, noticed there are several updates to install and walked off to go do something else while it has been updated.  After it updated, it will turn off.  Now when I hit the power button to turn the PC on his saying to check my boot device or change my startup location and press a key to continue.  I tried to use my vista cd to retrieve and repair the safe mode, but it does not find my hard drive!

I guess what I need to know is, in fact the process of update killed my hard drive?  I can get it back without cracking open the case and replace my hard drive?  And if I need to replace my HARD drive how can I recover my data?

  • Windows Vista 64 bit not Shutting Down

I have Windows Vista 64-bit and after a few recent updates it will not shut correctly. The screen saying shutting down just y rest turns and it never stops. I have to use the power button then go through "Windows is not stopped correctly." Does anyone have a suggestion on what I can do to fix it?

Well at least you know it's updates.
But now that you have restored on before the updated Automatic updates of Windows will try to re - install the updates again on the next update of the cycle. This can cause the issue to recur.

To work around this problem and continue troubleshooting follow these steps:

    (1) to prevent the restart that follows the Blue Screen Of Death, go to the control panel. Select system, select the System Protection, select the Advanced setting. In the startup and recovery section, click the settings button. In the dialogue box uncheck 'automatically restart '.

This way if the BSOD appears it will remain on the screen until you restart manually (with the power switch) so you can copy all the info.

    2) go to the control panel and select Windows updates, then settings. In the settings dialog box, select "download updates but let me choose whether to install them. When you click OK and return to the precedding box select "Check for updates".

    (3) then make a list of the updates download. Download the General description and the number of K.
You will be able to select the ones you want to install. Select one and install it. It is necessary to restart even if it doesn't tell you the restart.

    (4) see if afier you is installed the problem returns. If this is not the case back to the updates, and install the following and so on.

    (5) when get you to one that is causing the BSOD a brand notes of everything about the BSOD and updated at the source of the problem and to publish them.

This is enough to understand the nature of the conflict with the update and fix it.

If this can be done at least you know what update is the problem, it can be uninstalled in most cases without reverting to a restore point. It can also be marked as 'Hidden', then in the future Windows Update will not download again it and raise the problem of repeat.

Finally you can win the lottery Windows and after you have reinstalled all the updates from that above a time procedure everthing could be OK. He has been known to occur. One just update downloads may have been corrupted. a second facility will work then.

  • Help! Windows 7 will not be shut down/IE 9 problems such as wells or to several questions

    Hello

I recently bought a new computer company beginning July 2012. Since day 1, Windows 7 Professional 32 bit not stopped correctly. I contacted HP multple times now and done several tests of material. They say this isn't a hardware problem. They advise that this is a problem in Windows and 'flash' of my system again. Before having to do that, I want to see if I can fix this without doing something drastic that. In addition, IE9 won't work as well on numerous occasions.

I tried following the steps in other posts in the community on windows does not stop but I can not even past the clean install. He refuses simply restart/stop. I don't know what else to do, but it's frustrating.

I updated my drivers HP as well and still no help. So, where should I go from here? I really need help and was shocked when I called the technical support to Windows and told me $ 99 has the right to fix. I just got this machine.

    Help, please!

  • Windows 8 RTM is not shutting down / start correctly

    Hello

I installed Windows 8 Pro RTM in VMware Player 4.0.4.

Everything works well except a stop. It will stop. But when I try to start the operation fails and just shut down after a few seconds (no error message, closes just the virtual machine). A second start will result in the OS boot ok (but communicate that he stumbled upon a problem before). A normal reboot works fine. Suspend also works without a problem.

Can I simulate this behavior consistently. I have also this problem with the preview release of Windows 8 (I tested it, I still have the VM).

I have attached a few files of newspapers on the right after the first start after the failure of a stop. I couldn't see anything strange, but I'm not familiar with that.

The event log showed just a critical error, but no real information...

Someone at - it an idea?

    Thank you

    Jorn

I don't know, but I could think of a problem with the virtual disk connected to a virtual IDE (rather than the default SCSI adapter) adapter in combination with the error messages concerning the virtual CD-ROM drive.

What you try first is to disable the virtual CD-ROM drive (i.e. uncheck the box "Connect to light") to see if that makes a difference. Apart from this, create a new virtual machine with a SCSI "LSI Logic SAS" drive , which is the default - and reinstall Windows 8.

  • Windows XP Guest Machine stuck 'shutting down' in VM 2.0.6

My Windows XP guest is stuck in Shutting down Windows screen.  I am running v2.0.6 VMWare on a MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz Core Duo with 2 GB of RAM.  Ideas on maybe force he quit or do a reboot would be appreciated.

The following applies to Fusion 2.x.

VMware Fusion (menu bar) > help > VMware Fusion help > running VMware Fusion and Virtual Machines > Shutting Down a virtual machine operating system

VMware Fusion (menu bar) > help > VMware Fusion help > running VMware Fusion and Virtual Machines > Options for VMware Fusion food orders

VMware Fusion (menu bar) > help > VMware Fusion help > running VMware Fusion and Virtual Machines > orders of switching power supply from the default Options

    ==========

Note: It's like pulling the plug of the wall on a physical computer. Whatever this is not saved will be lost and there is always the possibility of corrupting the file system where preforming a hard stop! (Even if you have no choice but to do.)

VMware Fusion menu bar > VM > press the option key and select Power Off

By pressing the keys alt/option "Shutdown called" changes to "Power Off".

Note: It also changes orders of "Suspend comments" and "Restart Guest' too.

Or if this does not work then...

On the library Virtual Machine ctrl - click on the target of the Virtual Machine and select Show in Finder and delete the .vmss file, the ctrl + click the target package of Virtual Machine, and then after the merger closed. Note: All that was not justified for the suspended state will be lost by deleting the .vmss file. Note: However: you have no other choice if the Virtual Machine does not suspend/resume/stop/start correctly.
