  • Update Windows KB936330 says it installed, but it isn't there

Windows update says it successfully installed SP1 (KB936330) but is not here, it is not listed on the system information page or my list of files in the Panel. It appears only in my history as being successfully installed update. So I then tried to install manually and I said the file doesn' work on my OS, I am running Windows Vista Home Premium, this is a re - install after installing a new hard drive. HELP, PLEASE! I've tried everything.

    Hi, Greg.

Go to start > right click on computer

    Select Properties

If service pack 1 is installed, it will be displayed

When you installed new hard disk, you use the manufacturer's recovery media?  Look on the label of the CD.  He can tell the system recovery of Windows Vista Home Premium SP1.  If so, it is installed.

  • Guard re-setting to update Windows Update Vista SP1 successfully, but it never appears in the list of installed updates!

This happened for months and I just found out 3 days ago.  If you look at the history of the update, you see that SP1 has been installed successfully for 14 months (more than 50 successful install of SP - 1).  I was prompted to investigate the automatic update of Windows, is that it takes forever for this system to stop and start.  He is constantly confuguring or install updates and there is no stopping it most of the time.  I can't seem to get it to start in SafeMode as he zips through even if the f8 key is pressed and causing a beep.

At first I restored to an earlier point, but noted that there was very little to choose restore points.  I contacted HP and they recommended a difficulty of their site that helps with updates.  I ran and persistent .net updates succeeded (However, he is the one who seems to be back).  I ran the program of preparation for Service Pack 1 on the site of Ms.  I ran the program fix - it on the site of Ms.

    Can someone help me please?

    Hello

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Answers.

It seems that updates could be partially installed on the computer.

I suggest you open programs and features and select view installed updates and look for the updates and make sure he completely uninstalled.
Once the updates are completely uninstalled try to perform the updates of Windows and check to see if there are completely installed on the computer

Before you run Windows updates ensure that security software are disabled temporarily.
Also to put the computer in a clean boot state and check
Following steps will help you put the computer in a clean boot state:

    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
    2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    3. in the general tab, click Selective startup.
    4. under Selective startup, clear the check box load startup items.
    5. click on the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable all.
    6. click on OK.
    7. When prompted, click on restart.

Once you're back at the office, try to download the system analysis tool and run it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821

Once it's done you can download Service Pack 1 standalone package and try to install it on the computer, you can download service pack 1 from the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=B0C7136D-5EBB-413B-89C9-CB3D06D12674&displaylang=en

    Try to install and check.

After service pack 1 is installed on the computers try to put the computer to normal startup.
    1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
    2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on continue.
    3. on the general tab, click Normal startup, click ok, and restart the computer.

    It may be useful

  • Windows 8 saying the printer, but still printing error

Good so I just got a new labtop (hp) with windows 8 and hp envy 4500 printers range, whenever I have print something (via wireless) on the labtop in the upper right corner, a popup will say print error (can't remember exactly what he said) but eitherway, it's saying that, but the printer prints. Why it keep popping up saying error or if it is but there is nothing wrong and it is printing. Not a huge problem but kind of boring, thanks, Sarah

    Hi TonyKnVA

I understand that the printer does not print several pages.

Here is a url to temporarily disable all the startup programs to see if one of them is causing problems.

    Disable any Antivirus software.

Try to print a document from multiple page of two different applications.

You must follow the same steps to reactivate all.

Let me know if that makes a difference.

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

Think about it an absolute must - manually update your drivers.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/HT/driverdlmfgr.htm

Installation and update of drivers under Windows 7 (updated drivers manually using the methods above
It is preferable to ensure that the latest drivers from the manufacturer of system and device manufacturers are located)
    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/43216-installing-updating-drivers-7-a.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.

It starts no problem, but when I click on recorded TV, it says that "Windows Media Center has stopped working, seeking resolutions... "If I click on TV guide there is no problem. I tried a restore, but for some reason any restore function has been disabled.

You has not, coincidentally, happens to record last Friday (I think it is?) episode of human target (what happened to be replaced by a House reruns), did you?
Reason I ask: it has been a little traffic on to thegreenbutton on the subject these days - and everyone who reported also arrived to try to save human target.  Somehow, the file finished with metadata is corrupted, what makes MC crash when you enter recorded TV (at best, it crashes when you select the program from the list.)
FIX: Open Explorer and go to C:\users\Public\Recorded TV.  Find and remove "human Target__"(exemple: «La Target_WDIVDT_2010_10_01».) ".
