Update KB2631813 for Windows XP security repeatedly failed to install - error code 0 x 8007003. All other updates install successfully. None of the proposed solutions have worked so far including clear update history.
should [1] I really KB2631813?
[2] my computer seems not to like it.
[3] do you think that KB2631813 is really all this effort?
A1. Yes, as much as you need at every update of safety critical other.
Note that the vulnerability being patched (e.g., MS12-004) requires KB2598479 and KB2631813 to install! IOW, your computer is still vulnerable to the exploit if if KB2631813 is not installed.
A2. Your computer 'loved' KB975562 (which is replaced or replaced by KB2631813), so it should also 'like' KB2631813.
A3. Is the security of your computer and data to this topic (e.g., banking online & credit card passwords) really this effort?

How to remove windows xp security updates installed automatically
recently, I installed windows xp. The system has automatically downloaded and installed from many windows xp security updates, which slowed the system. also, how open internet browser like IE8/Google chrome/Firefox, the system crashes, but the system speeds up after a while. I always find AVG antivirus free edition is updated at the start of the system upward during which the problem above. can you suggest how to fix it?
Chances are, AVG is you slow down because it downloads the latest anti-virus definition files and will then scan your computer. You can set how often you want these updates. Personally I have mine to search every day and will take the hit on his speed to get the latest definition files. Depending on how your system is configured, it will also look at the updates for other programs / Windows as well and download.
I hope this helps.

Three Windows Vista security updates continue to fail every time.
Three Vista updates fail every time Windows Update tries to install. They seem to settle in Windows Update and then require a reboot to complete. During the restart of the system required, "Configuring updates 3/3 ' always shows 0% complete then finally said the ' configuration updates are not correctly installed and updates to return back and restart the system, then ends."
These are the updates:
Update security for WIndows Vista (KB2691442)
Update security for WIndows Vista (KB2655992)
A security update cumulative for Internet Explorer 9 for WIndows Vista (KB2719177)
I tried several times with the same negative result of "failing".
I got a Windows Defender Update yesterday and only one installed perfectly, but they are still pending.
Suggestions?
Thank you!

Free space on drive C - Windows XP Security takes a large amount of space.
Beachaven,
Welcome to the Microsoft Answers Community!
How much space you show the updates of security take?
It is recommended to leave all the updates security installed and continue to keep your computer up-to-date with Windows Update. Remove these updates will make your computer vulnerable to malicious software. If you need to erase the disk space, I recommend to uninstall old programs that are no longer in use. You can also check the disk cleanup tool to see if you can free up of any space there.
· Click Start
· Click on all programs
· Click on Accessories
· Click on System Tools
· Click Disk Cleanup
· Check the boxes of files to remove
· Click OK
· Click on delete files
Hope that helps, I look forward to hearing from you.

Can not get the latest Windows 7 security updates
you want to say thank you in advance to anyone who could help me with this problem. I was not able to install the new updates of security, and I don't want to leave my computer in a vulnerable state, so any help is super duper enjoyed.
I have a desktop running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Service Pack 1. I bought the parts of the computer separately, so it did not come with a pre-installed Windows OS.
Since about two months ago (when I installed Windows), I was never able to find the updates by using Windows Update. It crashes just on the "check updates" screen I have yet to get error messages, it crashes just on this same screen, with the bar that goes from left to right.
After a week or two, I noticed that Windows has not been activated, and all I had to do was re-enter the product key. Now that Windows has been activated, I tried to look for updates again, same thing, it of just always looking for updates without results.
In the Windows Update window, it says:
Final check of updates: never
Updates have been installed: never
You receive updates: for Windows only
I have some important updates, the value "Install updates automatically (recommended)" every day at 03:00.
I have Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.320, status: success, installation Date: 17.8.2016 (the same day I installed Windows)
2 updates installed: KB976902 (installed on November 21, 2010) and KB2534111 (installed on August 17, 2016)
I searched the internet for possible solutions to the problem, and that's what I've tried so far:
I tried troubleshooting Windows update with the tool in the Control Panel, it hanged on "Check for updates online", so not much luck with that.
Scanned with Avast Antivirus computer a couple of times, has never found a virus.
I downloaded the WindowsUpdateDiagnostic tool and tried, I got the following:
Problems found
Windows Update, error 0 x 80080005 (2016-10-16-T-12_49_06P) is not fixed
Registration for the service is missing or damaged fixed
Fixed problems to install the latest updates
Fixed problems to install the latest updatesAfter that, still can't anything when I try to search for updates in Windows Update.
I tried to download and install KB3172605 from Microsoft Download Center update, I had read that the update was to make the search for updates in Windows Update faster. Download was successful. Then, I stopped the Windows Update Service. When I tried to install, but I was left with an error message saying that the update was not applicable to my computer.
Subsequently discovered on Belarc Advisor, downloaded and ran the program. He tells me that I have a total of 148 updates security missing, here is the list:

Can I download and install these updates manually using Microsoft Download Center? If possible, in what order should I install them? Are there any updates in the list that I have no need to get, or updates that should be included in the list? Y at - it updated I could get that would speed up the process of search for updates in Windows Update?
How long can it take to find 100 updates + I need help from Windows Update? A long time I've tried have Windows Update check for updates was like 10 hours, without results. Is it worth trying to leave to search for days even? Also can I disable my firewall and antivirus during this time, or is it too risky? I am reluctant to do it, because I SLEEP in the same room as my computer is in (and the cpu fan can get really loud).
One thing that I thought about just today is that I always shut down my computer at night. Since updates are planned to install at 03:00 in the night, interrupting this process by stopping the computer down every night? Should I try to simply put it to sleep instead, for a few nights?
We appreciate once again, if anyone can suggest what to do in this situation. Responses from anyone who has had the same problem and managed to resolve it might also be useful!
Thank you!

Windows 7 security updates are not installed
I have Windows 7 Professional. I continue to receive notifications about security updates. I have received several. Sometimes I have 5 or 6 at a time. They download OK, but when they attempt to install, they if at 45% and then stops and then you restore the update. I was not able to install the last several updates I received. What is going on?
You can reset the Windows Update components by running the Fixit on this page. But if there is malware present, she will continue to reset the connection to the update servers:
How to reset the Windows Update components
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058
Suggest you download and save the Fixit. Then configure the system before the clean boot by running:
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista/Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Once the Fixit has been downloaded and the system is started in the pure State, check that the native Windows Firewall is now on if a 3rd party firewall has been used previously. Now run the Fixit and choose the default mode. Restart once it's done and see if the system can be connected to the update servers. If he can't, then rerun the Fixit and choose aggressive mode. Turn it back on when he finished the race and updates.
I suggest before you stop and install the updates, disconnect from the Internet, first.
