Windows xp sometimes extremely slow, to connect to the Internet.

Sometimes, when I log on the Internet there is a long wait to connect, other times I get a quick response.  Times slower than fast times.

Hi kendriver,

·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

·         You get the error message?

·         You use Internet Explorer? If so, what version are you using?

Follow these methods.

Method 1: Follow the steps in the article.

Possible issues and resolutions for slow connection in Windows XP speeds

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310590

Method 2: Temporarily disable the security software.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 3: Start the computer in safe mode with network and check if the problem persists.

Method 4: Follow the steps in the article to reset the internet protocol.

  • Windows XP Media Center 2005 cannot connect to the Internet

    Dear all,

I'm having a problem with Windows XP Media Center 2005. The problem is that when I connect the cable from the modem to the laptop, I only send packets without receiving. The IP address I get is also 169.254.207.207, which is not a valid IP address to connect to the internet, and so I guess that something is blocking the laptop to get the IP address. Another thing I noticed is that when I turned off the modem and restart it, I have connectivity maybe 5 seconds and then return to no connectivity.

You guys can tell me what is the problem, and if I have to download something but in addition to the internet so that I can get my laptop to work. That said, I can connect to wireless with no problems.

Thanks for your help and your time

    Hello

Sorry for the question but what modem did you mean?
A simple analog modem or DSL (broadband) modem that supports support a LAN connection.
If you mean the second then I would check the TCP/IP settings in the properties of LAN card. The settings should be set to automatic

You should also check that you firewall settings.

  • Startup slow when connected to the internet

    Hello.

My desktop pc (2.4 GHz / Vista SP2 - 32-bit operating system / 500 GB HD / 3 GB RAM) normally takes 4-5 minutes to start with an internet connection.  In the last few days, but it took 25 to 30 min to start when it is connected to the internet, but still only 4-5 minutes if not connected to the internet. I know that the obvious answer is not to connect to the internet until the pc is completely started, but would be interested to hear all of the solutions that anyone might like this only happened in the last days. The red light on the front of the pc normally blinks quickly at the start but now is slow and intermittent. Once fully booted the pc runs at normal speed. Don't know if it's relevant, but MS Security Essentials takes a long time to appear in the system tray and only turns green after about 25 minutes. I've done a full scan in MS Security Essentials but found nothing.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello Scott,

I suggest you do divide and conquer method to identify the program that is causing the problem.

Put the computer in a clean boot state and then select the startup program one by one and then check which program is causing the problem.

  • Windows 7 is extremely slow to return to the screen saver mode.

I installed upgrading Windows 7 on my computer and everything is fine.  However, when the system is idle and past in mode screensaver (with or without a password), the return of the screen saver mode are extremely slow (just a white screen).  It is sometimes quick, sometimes it comes back in 3-4 minutes, but most of the time it takes a long time.

The system is a low end, but more than enough to manage w7.  It consist of:
    Pentium dual core (2140)
    2 gig memory
    NVIDIA 7300GT 256M

I tried to delete the zone alarm security suite, does not solve the problem
thought it was the HP 2610 print software, removed and still happens.
    update the bios (MSI p4m900)

can someone figure this.  Is there something that prevents him to return to the desktop.

Note that, I try to reboot from the blank screen by pressing the windows, right arrow, return.  But I think also, it does not address key strokes.

I found a way to fix it! I did this:

    1. Press win + r and run msconfig. Go to tools and brand to troubleshoot the computer, and then click Start.

    2. then go to system and security and press electricityballance (not sure of the name in English because I have a Norwegian version..).

    3. restart your computer.

    4. my screen saver was not afterwards, but I gave it to display photos and now it works perfectly!

When I checked the general tab afterwards, it did not have the checkbox to use the... start (a last..) one has been verified and the second has a blue full mark.
