Windows XP (SP3) refuses to allow the addition of "Network Service" as a user of the service DCOM.

DCOM error 1016 Windows XPx32

Several solutions, all virtually identical to this question:

Machine default permission settings grant Local Activation permission for the application server COM with the CLSID
{A4199E55-EBB9-49E5-AF1A-7A5408B2E206}
the user NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE SID (S-1-5-20). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

However, the error persists;  Windows XP (SP3) refuses to allow the addition of "Network Service" as a user of the service DCOM.  The question was supposed to be fixed in a service pack, patches, etc., but he persists.  This despite the change permissions to allow that user permissions in HKCR | CLSID. {"clsid :} or HKLM\Software\Classes\AppID.

Now what?

Hi Ronegade,

I suggest that you follow the steps in the article mentioned below.

The event 10016 may be logged in the system log on a computer that is running Windows XP Professional x 64

  • Disable the menu bar, the option apears in my Firefox 3.6 X using Windows XP SP3, but not in the same version with Ubuntu 10.04

With the help of dual boot OS, Windows XP SP3 / Ubuntu 10.04. Even Firefox v3.16.13. In windows, using the button display in the menu bar, I can't turn off the menu bar. You use Ubuntu, the same option is available in "display".
I used "subject: Config" before, but I'm very careful and document all changes. Any time I need to access the menu items, using windows, I just use alt = _.

In versions of Firefox 3.6 you can hide the bar of menus under Windows and not Linux. In Firefox 4 beta current versions you can hide the Menu bar and have the greyish Firefox button instead and use F10 to temporarily show the Menu bar, so you need to wait or try the beta version .

    Robin,

It's the support page from Dell for your computer--> http://www.dell.com/support/my-support/us/en/04/product-support/servicetag/JHDFR1S/config?s=BIZ

As near as I know, your Optiplex was conducted in Australia.  If you are indeed in Australia (and you probably, if you have a modem/router of Telstra), I have no information on what products could be made available to you or where you could buy them.

My personal preference would be an adapter that includes a cable for the antenna is not positioned between the back of your computer and the wall.  However, if your computer will be less a few meters from the router, there is not much difference, and you can use an adapter that looks like a USB key (or smaller).  My guess is that all of the products on this page might work for you--> http://www.mwave.com.au/networking-wireless/adapters-addon-cards-wireless?view=40&pricerangeid=1&filter=383%3Dusb&filteroptions=383%3Dinterface that the correct driver should be included on a CD supplied with the appliance.

  • Windows XP SP3 installation will erase the data on the computer?

They should not be made, but if you have 3 other physical disks I would disconnect the data cable for each disk to be sure.

  • Impossible to change the Windows Media Center guide to allow the use of ot TV relay stations (translators)

Live TV with Windows Media Center, where RF channels are different from that of the guide because of the distance TV translators (relay Stations)

Cannot change the guide to allow the use ot (translators) television relay stations where the RF TV channel is different from the current station. For example, Station POLO6N is 9 RF channel in Eugene, OR, but here on the coast, it is the 35 RF channel. Zip code for our region apparently points to the station itself RF channel and the number of 1092 is shown and dimmed so that it cannot be changed. How the inputs of channel can be modified to adapt to this situation? Here on the coast, we're out of range (mountains, etc.) of the station itself.

    BH

I have apparently discovered a way to watch and record live TV using Windows Media Center where the geographical area is served by the translators of the TV and the.

If you configure the TV channels using only NOT the guide and using Add missing channels feature to add and configure the channels you use before you download the guide, you can set the actual RF frequencies of TV translators serving your area. In my case, I had to add the letters TD after the call signs of stations so that when I load the guide, he be to point to the current channel.

After having added all channels and before loading guide, check the reception using the function designed to help you in the pointing of your antenna. Then load the guide and your channel configuration is retained and stored in a file pref.xml which apparently replaces the channels.xml file created by the loading guide.

Unfortunately, detailed documentation on the product missing apparently (help files I found only State to follow the guests), or I didn't find it. In all cases, you can use Windows Media Center to watch and record live TV if you live in an area served by the translators/TV relay stations with different channels channels over-the-aor real real TV stations.

If you find that you need to change a channel, use channel add rather than the function Edit channels, clear the X in the box and start over with this channel.

  • Windows XP sp3 can not access the network shares on vista after installing sp2

I have a xp sp3 computer and another currently running vista Home premium sp2. Previously, I was able to access the network share on the xp computer before vista computer I installed sp1. Both computers were able to ping between them without problem.

I've upgraded to sp2 because I had problems with windows media center, missing records. Upgrade of these issues fixed, but this means that roll back to sp1 is not an option for me to get operational network.

Please do not post a standard answer on the network configuration. I am familiar with the standards requirements to share files between xp and vista and everything is set up correctly.  Like I said everything was working fine before the installation of sp2.

If it is a known problem that is still not resolved, I'd appreciate knowing that information as well.

Edit: Firewall been disabled during my troubleshooting

After more work, I was able to solve my problem.  Update zone alarm solved my problem and helped my windows xp machine to access my Vista network shares.  As I pointed out in the original post, zone alarm firewall has been disabled during my troubleshooting.  Apparently, when disabled, the old version of zone alarm has always been the origin of the problem.

  • Windows 8.1 refuses to encrypt the system drive

Reference Dell place 8 Pro Tablet running Windows 8.1 (not Pro). After much frustration with this unit, I decided to dry completely and do a fresh install of Windows. And indeed, all of my previous problems just disappeared. - But there is now a new: BitLocker refuses to (self-) encrypt the system drive, as it is supposed to do. Windows claims that the device encryption is temporarily suspended but will resume after the next startup. However, no matter how many times I reboot the device, encryption/protection remains in the suspended state. The venue Pro 8 has a secure TPM, or more precisely a fTPM (TPM firmware). I am somewhat familiar with the TPMs management and then I went through procedures to prepare the TPM (which was what the suggested corresponding event logs), but it did not help. As the version of the OS is ordinary Windows (and not Windows Pro), the BitLocker feature is very limited, but sufficient to reveal 'Key protectors' are missing. If I have Windows 8.1 handling of automatic encryption, white protective key test should have been filled as soon as Windows has managed to record a recovery on my outlook account key. That, however, seems will never happen. Maybe because Windows has seen the device before that soft install. But even remove the device from my account, and then add that this return has not changed things.

  • How configure the list the Windows 7 firewall exceptions to allow the blocked IP?

I have a Web site set up in my trusted sites to access, but a contextual dialog box of security is blocked and I can not connect.  How to configure the firewall for a pinhole camera?

Unfortunately, the link you provided goes to answers for Windows server, not Win7Pro, but I got the idea.

I found this statement, (that I neglected before,) on the page for the Windows Firewall:

Firewall Windows with advanced security is designed for use by COMPUTER administrators who need to manage network security in an enterprise environment. It is not intended for use in home networks. Home users should consider using the Windows Firewall program available in the Panel.

It also begins to help.  I have another question to try to set up the FTP, and it is to change the default port 21 to something else.  Unfortunately, even if the programs allowed Windows Firewall prompt indicates change port settings, click on "change setitings", when I do, I'm only able to enter the program of applications, not to define the ports.

Oh, well.  I guess the only provision I have is port forwarding in my router, and if it doesn't work, I'm outta luck.

In the meantime, at least I know now how to set exclusions for programs.  I still don't know how to set the permission for a specific IP address, but...  Thank you.  Your comment has helped (indirectly).

  • Windows xp sp3 system root of the Hal.dll error or not found after auto update of windows system corrupt does not load.

12/07/2011 my system automatically downloaded a system update and rebooted when it restarted, it wouldn't load windows and gave this error message. What should I do? I tried to remove the hard drive and put it on another computer if I could look at the problem but I don't know what to do to fix. My backup information are on another hard drive in the original computer. I use Norton 360 for my backups.

It is extremely unlikely, there is nothing wrong with your file hal.dll despite what says the error message (do not try to replace).

It is extremely likely that XP just cannot find the fine hal.dll where it says to look for.

XP is maybe not able to find the file, it's file system is corrupted (Norton that sometimes), or if your c:\boot.ini has somehow become corrupted and told XP to find files in never never land.

You must first run a chkdsk /r on your distressed HARD drive and if that does not do it, you have to redefine your boot.ini file.

If you have the drive in another machine, you can open the file c:\boot.ini with a text editor and copy/paste the content back here for analysis.

You can also rename your file c:\boot.ini to something like c:\boot.ini.bak (so now you do not).  In a single partition installation, XP is not even a file c:\boot.ini to start.  He'll complain briefly, but always begin (unbelievers - try it).

t can take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

I'll keep an eye on your Norton since when your charge again, Norton System may corrupt your file system again and you will have to repeat the chkdsk/r to repair (so you can set Norton).

I put the drive in the original system and fix it there with the XP Recovery Console.  After all, it's where he has to work, right?

If you have any bootable XP installation CD authentic where you can start the XP Recovery CD of Console, you can make a bootable CD from the Console of the Recovery XP (no XP media required).
