Windows XP system is unstable and slow - Sat Pro A10

Do not know if I have a Windows or a HDD problem :/

Systems have become unstable a few days ago and started to slow down. Finally started getting delayed Windows disk write errors.

Current situation is that Web pages with javascript on them don't work (windowsupdate, ms webmail sites), and some local programs seem not to launch (information system).

Tried the upgrade of IE. I tried MS supports javascript trobleshooting. Run the check disk and defrag of many times.

Think to take (Sat Pro A10) in a repair shop, but not 100% convinced that it's the hard drive that I can't find anything that verifies records that suggests a problem :(

Any help?

Hello

Just a little tip: one day, when you have time, you can search for HDD Regenerator tools on the net. With this tool, you can check if the HARD drive is OK. It is always good to know that the disc has no bad sector HARD and because of this cause, to slow down the pace of operational or OS even total crash.

  • Re: Sat Pro A10 and Sat 10 - the difference - need new keyboard

    Hey all!

New ID as I am garbage to remember the passwords/log on emails...

I have a Satellite Pro A10, which needs a new keyboard - there's loads are circulating on ebay for Satellite A10 - but not the Pro - now I'm almost 100%, it'll be the same keyboard - right? the 'Pro' ILO denounces just usually extras bits and things qhizzy-, but basically they are the same hardware platform slot - i.e. the same keyboard between the A10 Sat and Sat Pro A10

    Anyone?

: D thank you in advance for letting me sleep at night!

I agree with you. There is not much difference, and the construction of the laptop is the same.
I'm 100% sure that the keyboard is the same.

  • Black screen on Sat Pro A10

    Hello

    I have a Sat Pro A10.

My problem is that my screen is so dark, that I can't see the content (maybe it's the backlight?). However when the computer starts, I can see the login screen of Toshiba fine. I also have the image if normal poster if I close the lid, and then open it. However the screen will stay only normal for a few seconds.

Anyone have any ideas what is wrong here? Why does the screen work at boot and then deceive you? Is this a hardware or a software problem?

    Any help would be great.

    Hi Alex,

It sounds like a problem with your inverter FL. You will need to take your laptop to a partner of Service allowed for it to be repaired or replaced.

  • WiFi unstable and slow Internet high speed

    Hello world:

Recently, I am facing a problem of unstable wifi, slow speed of the internet of my macbook pro. I hope someone could help me with my problem.

    Symptom:

Internet mainly speed just unstable using a wifi connection. (no problem with wifi connection self and my wifi suddenly grave would not be)

    Example:

    • FaceTime with my friends and the connection would suddenly abandon or images & audio gets fuzzy.
    • Videos in online streaming and suddenly occurs buffering.
    • Download file of software update iPhone via iTunes, the speed is slow, he needed to take 2 h at the end and later on a window display "cannot download and check your internet connection".
    • Suddenly cannot open websites like site apple.com, google.com. Sometimes it will take more time to open Web sites.

    Hardware and software:

MacBook Pro mid-2009, OS X EL Capitan 10.11.5

    ISP: Cox, 50Mbps

    Modem & router: Netgear N450

    Test:

Turn off my wifi and connect my macbook pro with modem & router with cable, internet high speed is stable and fast. Internet speed download speed test result display is of around 60Mbps, download speed is around 8Mbps. And I tried streaming using the connection cable, there was no buffering.

I already tried the possible Solutions:

    • Restart the Macbook pro and restart Modem & router: will not work. I mean the internet will be very well at first, but later would be unstable again.
    • Reset Wireless Modem & router and change channels: useful, but not completely solve the problem. After you change the wireless channel, I tested my internet speed and the result showing 20-40Mbps (slower than 60mbps) speed download. Sometimes, the result will be like 6-8Mbps and sometimes it will be 60Mbps. If its unstable.
    • Wireless diagnosis: result indicates connection is good.
    • Called my ISP provider: they checked and said all right.

    Other Questions & details:

    • The internet is ok for most of the time. But when all of a sudden I can't open site or I can't download and streaming & FaceTime at normal speed, his frustration.
    • I thought it might be related to my hardware since its an old macbook pro. I can't run Apple hardware test because I don't have the installation disc more and my macbook pro is very old. Is it a third party software that can perform the test hardware on mac?
    • My wifi used to be very stable and I don't have to worry. Just for these last two weeks.

  • Sat Pro A10: 'IDE #0 Error' on two laptops

    Hello

Appreciate any input from anyone in case I did something really stupid or am incredibly unlucky.

A Pro A10 Sat (out of warranty) looked like an imminent drive failure, then I cloned the drive and tried to share more, but got the error IDE #0 at startup. As I have two of these laptops, I traded in my second computer laptop to see if it was a disk error, but got the same error on the first laptop.

On return the drive to the second laptop. She now also fails with the same error! The two laptops are no disk in the BIOS and nothing spinning upwards at the start. However, both connect to desktop fine, if the drives are OK.

I don't see anyway to change the CMOS settings in case that's the problem with the new player or have I managed to damage the two IDE connectors in 5 minutes.

    Ideas or widely accepted views!

    Thank you.

    Hello

Have you tried putting the Hd drive in BIOS?
If BIOS don't recognize try it HDD to manually set and save the settings in the BIOS
If it is not possible, so I guess that it s something wrong with connectors or the HARD drive is not well positioned in the Bay.
But it is also possible that the two HARD drive have a malfunction.

    Good bye

  • Restore media for a Sat Pro A10

Hi, I lost my press kit for my Sat Pro but unable to download the drivers from the support site... everytime I try I just get a message saying that the file is not found. Can I download an ISO of the restore media, or someone can look at the download page for this laptop.

    Hello

First of all, you can not download an ISO of the Toshiba Recovery CD image file!
You can buy the CD of restoration but not download.

If you wish, you can contact the ASP in your country and ask for this CD. It s not expensive.

    Regarding you driver problem;

Well. I have checked the page of European disc of Toshiba and was able to download drivers for Satellite Pro A10.
So I know exactly why you can't download the drivers but there is nothing wrong with the page.

    Hello

I get this message in my event logs
Is there a way (update, etc.) to come around him

    Thanks in advance

    William

    Hello

Well, I think that it s a problem with Windows Xp. After a lengthy investigation, I found this information on the official site of Microsoft.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/q283649/

This is because the new ACPI specifications are not compatible with the BIOS.
    Please check this:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/hwdev/onnow/BIOSAML.htm

It seems that you must update your BIOS to fix this.

    Good bye

    Hello

As Windows was preinstalled on your computer, you must contact the Original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to reinstall of Vista drive. I suggest to fix vista problems, before you start the upgrade to Windows 7 if it is not upgrade may freeze or you will receive errors.

After reinstall of Vista drive, you can perform SFC scan offline using the disc. Follow the steps below to do so.

    a. Insert the installation disc.

    b. restart your computer.

    c. click on the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart.

    d. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

    Note:

If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.

    e. Select your language settings and then click Next.

    f. click on repair your computer.

    g. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.

    h. in the System Recovery Options menu, select command prompt

    i. type ' sfc/scannow' and check.

You can also do the Startup Repair after receiving drive, the detailed procedure is suggested below:

    I hope this helps!

  • Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and slow down the performance of the system

Its week Tuesday I had to buy a new motherboard for my computer as a (ASUS M5A97 THE R2.0) upgrade from my old Board that was used at the time. At present, I suffer from these setbacks and problems that I don't understand completely at all on the right, or what reasons is causing my system to the right way to work. From this moment everything that I know, is installed correctly with all the appropriate drivers (x 64) are also installed for the chipset on the map, the video card (XFX Radeon HD 6770) as well and nothing else that needed to be installed at the time because the operating system running the version of Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. The problem that I'm facing here is that for some reason, my system is now slowly in response to any kind of program or an application (either Internet Explorer, Windows Update). I have flashed the BIOS and there now the most recent version, and the system is upgraded to SP1. Any ideas?

Good so I found the problem. It was real HARD drive I had in my system. After you told me to do what you had posted, I started thinking and wanted to try a theory. I connect a spare hard drive I had in another computer, I like a build up of hobby. It's only 200 GB, but still more than enough. Anyway, when about and installed the operating system on it and of course I could tell a MAJOR DIFFERENCE in the overall performance!

The original HARD drive that is a Western Digital 500 GB took more than 2 1/2 hours to install completely; the Seagate 200 GB took only 20 minutes! In addition, I have much better overall system stability. So for now I'll stick with the smaller drive, until I can get a HARD drive more be my main in my system.

  • I have Windows XP and my PC gets slower and slower

I have Windows XP and my PC gets slower and slower

Well, if you have a slow computer experience, it is a serious performance problem.

There may be several reasons for the performance decline computer day after day, most common are the following:
    -Inadequate system or RAM, memory
-Too many unnecessary things and fragmented in the computer files
-Programs that run in the background and consuming system resources
    -Activity, virus, Spyware and Malware
-Several Antivirus running in the system

I guess if your computer worked well at the beginning means that you have good amount of system memory or RAM memory, but it is recommended to increase. Otherwise, you can do away with the increase in the virtual memory or paging file.
Right click on my computer go Properties. In the System Properties window go to the Advanced tab.
Now, click on the settings buttons in Performance. The Performance Options window click on the Advanced tab again and you will see the virtual memory down. Click on change. Now, you can keep it managed system or Custom. If you use the custom, then make sure that the initial size is 1.5 times the physical memory is actual and the maximum size is 3 x times.
Then apply and close all windows and restart the computer, note any change in performance.

To clean all the unwanted files just use the disk cleanup utility, it will clean up all unwanted computer junk files. Then you can go ahead and use Disk Defragmenter to defragment all the files fragmented in the c: Drive.

Prevention of the execution of unwanted programs must be done with caution. Sometimes programs load automatically whenever the computer is turned on these programs to continue to run in the background and consume system resources. The best thing to do is to stop them from loading automatically. Click START and then click RUN. RUN window opens upward, in the type of window run msconfig, system configuration window opens. Click on the last tab that says startup. You will see the list and most of them will have a check. First of all to uncheck all the, then control selectively the most important like your Antivirus, Internet connection, modem, another important application driver tool that may be necessary. You can hardly but understand that those check must sound familiar to you. Apply and then restart the computer. When the computer restarts, you will see a prompt that saya that you have used the System Configuration utility. Simple uncheck the box at the bottom and click OK. Notice the change in system performance.

If you run more thn an Antivirus, make sure you uninstall one. Since then, most of the antiviruses have a real-time scanner or resident shield that consumes some system resources, using several will cause more consumption of system resources. Subsequently, slow down the computer.

If all of the above does little to improve the performance of the Virus issue might have to be declared. However, let me know and we'll do something if it's a virus problem.

  • I would like to install Windows XP on my computer and get rid of the Vista operating system. Can I do this? I only have 512 MB of Ram and 32-bit processor.

    Windows XP instead of Vista.

I would like to install Windows XP on my computer and get rid of the Vista operating system.  Can I do this?  I only have 512 MB of Ram and 32-bit processor.

    Hello

There are a few things that you would have to do to install XP instead of Vista:

    1. contact the manufacturer of your computer and see if the XP drivers are available for your computer model to make sure that XP has worked properly in this regard.

    2. If the XP Drivers are available, buy a XP disk operating system / license. Try local computer repair shops because Microsoft sells more than XP and online sale buy you pirated copies can cause. Be very careful.

3 XP runs with 512 MB of RAM, although a little slow by today's standards.

    4. do a clean install of XP. Make sure that all your data is backed up as the hard will be cleaned of everything during the Installation of XP.

  • When I try to create a new e-mail in Windows Mail for Vista, the message box is delayed and slow to open.

Hello, I have a laptop with Vista MS operating system and Windows Mail.  Since I got the computer, I noticed that when I go to create a new email, the new message box is delayed and slow to open.  And, often, once that I enter a contact in the line 'To', it also seems to be slow in filling.  No idea why this is happening.  The old OE always worked smoothly.  Thank you.

original title: Windows Vista and Windows Mail

Contacts are managed differently in Winmail in Vista and many can be what slows down things.  You can try to reduce them, and see if that has an effect any.

See here for background information (www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#wm), although it seems that the link to contacts has been removed.  See here for information on contacts: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Managing-your-contacts

  • Micorsoft windows search filter host uses 3g of ram and slows down the computer to a crawl.

search filter host started running after the updates and it slowed my laptop to a crawl.   Why is it turning?  And that fact?

Running Vista on the HP hdx laptop.  RAM 4g dual-core

It is probably rebuild the search Index (maybe called something in one of the updates for this action) - Although it could do other things as well (it's hard to tell).  You can do this finish faster in general by reducing the number of file types or sites included in the Index (Start/Control / Panel / Indexing Options / Advanced)- but the file types and locations are not included in basic research (it's a compromise).  Some people say that excluding files .xml help (especially if you have a big disco).

If this does not solve the problem (or you're stuck with it running and it will not be closed) Download Process Explorer http://download.cnet.com/Process-Explorer/3000-2094_4-10223605.html and see which fits all the CPU usage - it should provide more information than Manager and helps focus in spots on the problem.

The problem may be with the updates (or one of the updates).  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started (before installing updates without doubt).  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates (but be careful, because if the issue is resolved, then one of these probably caused updates and you do not want to recreate the problem).

For more information on the updates (which seems to be the source of your problem since it was started after them installed), repost in the Windows Update Forum: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/threads where the people who specialize in updating issues will be more than happy to help you with this problem.  Try to provide them with the names of the updates and their number KB (as well as all that you have done to try to solve the problem).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Error: One of the USB devices attached to this system has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it.

tried already everything written here. When I plug my USB device (3 of them) my Windows a sad of the USB devices attached to this system has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. I tried plugging it into another winXP machine, it won't work. Can you help me?

    Original title: usb malfunction

    His salvation,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

    1. What are the troubleshooting steps you have tried so far?
    2. If it works much earlier? If so, did you do changes on the computer before this problem?
    3. What type of USB device you are using?

As you mentioned that the USB device does not work when plugged into a WinXP machine, it may be a problem with the device itself. In addition, the question may also arise if the currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or damaged or if your PC requires an update for problems that could conflict with a device USB and Windows.

Therefore, I suggest you try the following methods (skip the ones that you already tried) and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Please try the fixit (s) provided below which will help you solve common problems associated with devices and USB ports.

If method 1 does not work, try Method 2.

    Method 2:

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers.

    1. Open Manager devices by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click system and security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the list of the categories of equipment, locate and expand Bus USB controllers.
    3. Right-click every device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
    4. Restart the computer and let the USB controllers get reinstalled.
    5. Plug in the removable USB device and test to make sure that the problem is solved.

If the problem persists, go to method 3.

    Method 3:

This method will install the latest drivers from device to your USB device.

    1. Click the Start button, type Windows Update in the search box, and then click Windows Update in the results pane.
    2. Click find updates. When the scan finished, click optional review updates.
    3. Click the check box next to the update, and then click install updates.
    4. If you are prompted, read the license agreement, then click I agree.
    5. Follow the instructions on the screen to download and install updates.
    6. If you are prompted, restart your computer.

More information: Update a hardware driver that is not working properly

If the device fails after updating the driver, you can try to roll back the driver with its previous version.

Restore a driver with its previous version

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.
