Windows XP that squeaks 'Chipmunks' Sound

Something happened to my laptop, may be that someone changed settings, but everything is acute. The only time something normal sound is when I go into control panel > sounds, speech, and Audio devices > change the sound scheme, and then play one of the sounds. Any other time, either at the start of my laptop upward or listening to music, everything is high acute. Is it possible to fix this?

Thank you

    Hello

The only suggestion I have right now would be to try again the following dism option.

Right-click the icon in the Start Menu, select (Admin) command prompt and click 'Yes' to the uac prompt.

Highlight the command below, select copy, paste them into the command prompt and press ENTER.

    DISM / Online/Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

If it is not running or it works but is not correct the problem, I fear, that you are probably with the option "Refresh" or "Reinstall".

  • My computer is running "Windows XP stop critique.wav" sound every 10 seconds.

My computer is running "Windows XP stop critique.wav" sound every 10 seconds for the last 8 days.  Window XP SP3.  I spent 1-1/2 hours will dell workstation support and 1-1/2 hours with my computer work (shot as a favor to my personal computer) and they find nothing, MacAfee installed, updated several full scan virus.  A ran Malwarebyte s multiple crawls - nothing.  Kaspersky lab - nothing.  Computer work ran a vrius start-up detector and nothing.  No error log is generated.  And two technicians stop various folders in the Task Manager and NOTHING he did stop.  I was sent a disc of reinstalling XP SP3 Dell and I did a repair XP complete with no fix. Technician COMPUTER checked a bunch of stuff and thought it was "related to a driver."  Regardless of what is the cause, how do I find the problem and fix it.   Thank you

    @GarySibley:

Thanks for the comments, and I'm happy that you found.  Although I'm not surprised that an msiInstaller error could have caused a "critical stop" but I never thought that he would deliver the error never seconds.

    @JudsonWelcher:

I suggest you also check your event viewer to find errors msiinstaller.  I've seen other posts where a sound "critical stop" appears to be linked to these errors (but like I said above, not continuous repetitions of the error).

There is no easy way that I know to track this sort of thing.  Before you start the method of 'Clean boot' or start using the process monitor, open the sound control panel applet and scroll down to check that Windows XP stop critique.wav has not been assigned to certain events in addition (or instead of) a real stop critical Windows.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

How to install a device driver in Vista Device Manager

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.

If he has problems with the update or the permissions then simpler is to download the full version and trash the version currently installed to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the file on the desktop DMG

    • Trash the present application Firefox to do a clean (re-) install

  • is there a minimum set of windows services that can be run under Labview?

I need more cpu resources to perform my VI, is there a list of Windows resources that I can disable that will not affect the VI?

    Hello

I would like to know if there is a minimum of services set in really need of LabVIEW. Not because my VI needs more CPU, but because I don't see why I should have 10 services OR running in the background even when LabVIEW is not working.

The list of services OR that I have running on my Vista 64 bit system when LabVIEW is not running is:

    national instruments tagsrv.exe 1 k 9 996 variable motor

    2 nisvcloc.exe NOR 0,920 k service locator

    3 NOR-PAL 3 492 k nipalsm.exe service manager

    4 NOR-Pal 7 468 k nipalsm.exe service manager

    5 nipalsm.exe service manager OR-Pal 21 356 k

    service of National Instruments Zeroconf nimdnsResponder.exe 6 k 1 924

    7 niLxiDiscovery.exe National instruments LXI Discovery Service 1 592 k

    nidmsrv.exe 8 nidmsrv 3 492 k

    lktsrv.exe 9 iktsrv.exe 3 480 k

    10 lkads.exe lkads 3 124 k

    TOTAL 56 844 K

Anyone know which of these I really need? I do not connect any equipment data acquisition on this machine. It is purely used for writing vi which are then transferred to another machine where they are tested. I have installed DAQmx and LabVIEW 8.6.
