Windows XP to the next operating system
I am a retired Senior who is a limited income. I have Windows XP on my computer
I love him, but knows that she will become not secured soon. My problem is that I can't afford to buy
a new computer or the next OS System. So what am I, I guess what to do now? Help?
Computers with a good performance that include Windows 7 or Windows 8 may be purchased for amounts relatively small (for example, $ 400 to $ 600).
If you don't spend any money, then you have two choices:
- Keep Windows XP and use your computer with care
- do not click on links in the e-mail
- do not open email attachments
- do not go to dodgy websites
- do not download the software that you don't know is safe
- do not use peer-to-peer file sharing
- In general, see http://www.techsupportalert.com/safe-hex-safe-computing-practices.htm
- Install an antivirus program that will run on XP and keep up to date (Microsoft will continue to allow Microsoft Security Essentials XP at least one year; I suspect that other companies will keep support for XP at least as long, if not more)
- Replace Windows XP with a version of Linux (and use your computer with caution).
- There are several "distributions" (distributions) or Linux versions that include a user-friendly interface which are pretty "Windows-like."
- There are a few commercial versions of Linux which must be purchased, in general, Linux is free
- The installation package usually contains at least a browser (Firefox or Google Chrome), an e-mail client, a multimedia player and often an Office suite (similar to Microsoft Office).
- You will need to do some research at the time to choose a distro and - once chosen - to familiarise yourself with its operation.
- There are too many distributions and too many opinions to give you a recommendation. See some of the articles found in this research--> https://www.google.com/#q=best+linux+distro+for+beginners+2014
- Or ask for advice at your local public library, senior center, computer club, or any other resource local tech

Hello. I have HP DV6-1256tx, I want drivers for my laptop compatible with the next Windows 8 operating system. How to download, can somebody help me please...
Give me the link or something where I can download the drivers...
Thank youEdriss Dave
HP does not currently have drivers for Windows 8. You probably won't need them. Windows 8 is not coming. It's here!
Just do the installation on a spare hard drive and bring the original HARD drive to a safe place.
. Windows 8 has drivers built in for most laptops and desktop computers. I did have to look for a driver in two facilities. One was an HP mini and the other was a Toshiba laptop.

Hello
Here's how to reinstall Vista as you no longer have a recovery partition.
This can help you (download files and make your own DVDs):
http://www.heidoc.NET/Joomla/technology-science/Microsoft/57-Windows-Vista-direct-download-links
And here are instructions on how to burn ISO disk images:
http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/isorecorder.html
The download links and information on how to make the ISO file, and then create the Setup DVD above are at this link:

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.
They should do it for a small fee

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.
If this happens, you may need to try this instead:
You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.
Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.
And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs
Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:
"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html
And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.
And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

I have Windows XP SP3 on a Dell computer. I have a new computer with Windows 7 Pro.
I want the option to be able to start my new computer with XP and run it as an alternative to USB.
Is there a way I can completely transfer the contents of the drive WITH the XP OPERATING SYSTEM on a regular external USB3 drive so I can start the new computer using XP works like the operating system, when I need?
Thank you.
You do not have. Windows XP doesn't work this way (start of the external drive).
You can virtualize the old computer (physical to virtual conversion) and run it as a virtual machine on your new system. Although, honestly, it would be a bit beyond the type of assistance usually given in these home user forums. A Google search would be ways to virtualize a physical system and/or choose which Manager of virtualization that you want to use (Microsoft VirtualPC, VirtualBox, VMware Player/workstation, etc...)

I have Vista 32 bit Home Premium. It does not support Windows Mail.Which is the best operating system to upgrade from Vista? Should I buy Windows 7, 8 or 8.1? I do not have a touch screen system, my system is five years old.
Original title: upgrade
Hello WilliamPopat,
If you want to buy an another operating system, you would do better to buy the latest version, i.e., Windows 8.1 it doesn't matter that you don't have a touch screen like Windows 8.1 will work just as well on a desktop PC / laptop normal.
However, before rushing and buying a copy of Windows 8.1, I suggest that you look at this link http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/11885-windows-8-upgrade-assistant-download-run.html the link above shows Windows 8 Upgrade Wizard you can download (free) and allows you to check that your PC is compatible with the latest version of Windows.
According to me, one of my office machines is around 5 or 6 years and Windows 8/8.1 works fine on it. However, it is best to check your own machine with the wizard upgrade just in case.

The size of the base operating system Windows Vista on my Aspire 3680 2682 is larger than 20 GB, is this normal?
Hello
Yes; It's normal.
In addition to the original operating system, you have updates, restore points of the system (set at 15% of the capacity of the hard drive) etc, etc.
It will continue to grow.
If you are worried about anything whatsoever, do a disk cleanup.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/delete-files-using-disk-cleanup
You can download this program for FREE and see what fits on the disc.

And always scan your system for malware.

Windows XP instead of Vista.
I would like to install Windows XP on my computer and get rid of the Vista operating system. Can I do this? I only have 512 MB of Ram and 32-bit processor.Hello
There are a few things that you would have to do to install XP instead of Vista:
1. contact the manufacturer of your computer and see if the XP drivers are available for your computer model to make sure that XP has worked properly in this regard.
2. If the XP Drivers are available, buy a XP disk operating system / license. Try local computer repair shops because Microsoft sells more than XP and online sale buy you pirated copies can cause. Be very careful.
3 XP runs with 512 MB of RAM, although a little slow by today's standards.
4. do a clean install of XP. Make sure that all your data is backed up as the hard will be cleaned of everything during the Installation of XP.

If I buy windows 8 (any OS windows) now and install in my computer and after a year when I change my computer, can I install the SAME operating system in the new computer?
You can if you buy a commercial box full of Windows 8 version.
If you buy a computer with Windows preinstalled, or a version OEM of Windows 8, 8 No, you can't.
If you buy a version upgrade, you can, as long as the new computer has a licensed version earlier of Windows on them.

It depends only on the BONE of the application server.
If your OS development and OS is different, you have to compile the fmb in the server again.

I recently changed to windows 7 from vista. I was wondering if there is a way to recover old photos of the vista operating system... If so can someone help me
If you did an upgrade and not a clean install, they must remain on your drive. Do a search of *.jpg, *.jpeg and see what you get. If I remember correctly, you will have a folder windows.old that they appear in. You can use Windows Explorer if you want to look in your records in the Windows.Old directory.
I hope this helps.

I have 8 Fusion installed on Yosemite. I have a guest VM Windows 10 and works well. When I install El Capitan, do I have to recreate the Windows 10 VM guest or it should run with El Capitan as the host operating system? Thank you!
Hello
Upgrade to El Capitan shouldn't matter to your guest operating system, it must continue to operate as is.
However, DO NOT wipe your drive on the update as then it might erase your VM.
So best thing - as always - is to make a backup of your VM - with the virtual machine closed down and merge not running - before the upgrade to El Capitan.
