Windows 7, will not accept an XP program, with on a d3drm.d11... How to fix... Thank you

    Hi Ron,

To provide the proper resolution, that I would need more information on your side.

    1. What is the name of the program that does not open?

    2. What is the accurate and complete error message?
    3. when, exactly, you get this error message? It is by running the program or the installation of the program?

This problem can occur if the program is not compatible with Windows 7.

    Method 1:
I suggest you try to open the program in compatibility mode. Check if it helps.

Make older programs in this version of Windows

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

    Method 2:
If the problem persists, you can try to install XP Mode and then try to run the program in XP Mode.

Note: XP Mode only works with Windows 7 Professional and ultimate edition. Try these steps if you are using Windows 7 Professional and ultimate edition.

  • Windows 7 will not accept any ati driver and catalyst control center at the same time.

I tried a number of ati drivers. My card is a 4870 x 2 2 GB edition. The driver that windows installs will not accept any CCC.

I did also install CCC and only driver left. I tried to play Everquest 2, first game to install, and it crashes before the charge, gives me an error of ref dx9.

I'm assuming that windows 7 has the new package dx so I shouldn't have to reinstall that. I downloaded some of them however.

I'll try a restore and see if it works. If I could go back in time and never bought this o/s I now.

    This is ridiculous.

Windows 7 DirectX 11.  You can also download and install v9 and have both at the same time, which is what I have on two different computers for this reason.

  • Windows backup will not accept a new drive after the 2nd backup drive

Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. Windows backup will not pass make the 2nd drive. Error: insert - % 2 serial number of volume in drive %1 %3.

Windows 7 and is upset. He leans on Mac.

    Thanks, Terry

I don't have a solution to your problem of "dvd".
    I have a suggestion:
Forget to take the backup of files with dvds.
Buy an external hard drive and use it for backups of files.

A hard disk of 1 TB post can be had less than $100, to the Canada. The United States will be even less.

Thanks to the external hard drive for backups of files, you don't have to sit by the computer and feed it with DVD whenever he asks. You can walk away. The computer will do its thing without you.

A 2 x 4 in box will store all your files. No DVD more formatting. No more marking each dvd. No stacks more DVD.

  • Windows XP Setup will not accept my product key

I am re-installing ona XP laptop, but the installation of Windows XP will not accept my product key. I have an OEM of a Dell PC product key that is no longer functional, and a update product key which is not null else, neither of which works.

I can't even do the installation to achieve the activation step.

    Link to the entire conversation:

    Huh?
    • You have a Dell system, and with this Dell, you have a product key for Windows XP (edition?) - it would be an OEM key be used with an OEM installation CD.
    • You seemed to have bought (where?) a copy of "Retail" / license for Windows XP (edition?) - which would have its own retail product key to be used with a retail installation CD.
    What does not work:
    • using the CD to retail with the product key OEM on Dell machine sticker
    • by using the product key from retail with OEM installation media which might come with the Dell printer
    • have an installation CD OEM with an edition of Windows XP (Home and Professional vs Media Center 2002 vs Media Center 2005, etc.) and you try to use the product key OEM for another edition of Windows XP (Home and Professional vs Media Center 2002 vs Media Center 2005, etc) (editions must match, House can is complicated in this grouping too.)
    • have an installation CD retail with an edition of Windows XP (Home and Professional vs Media Center 2002 vs Media Center 2005, etc.) and you try to use the product key from retail sales to another edition of Windows XP (Home and Professional vs Media Center 2002 vs Media Center 2005, etc) (editions must match, House can is complicated in this grouping too.)
So is that what you are trying to do?  Why did you buy the CD/product key for sale at retail and the editions correspond?

If you're not at the point where you will have to enter the product key - why do you think that the product key is the question? Hah

  • Windows Vista Home Basic preinstalled on my Compaq laptop will not accept code provided with the computer installation.

Windows Vista Home Basic preinstalled on my Compaq laptop will not accept code provided with the computer installation. HP can't help. Your say talking to HP and HP technicians say they are unable to help him. I'm now using valid XP. HP say that conflict with Vista. Can anyone help?

    original title: VISTA VS. XP

Your technicians say talk to HP

Sorry, this is not Microsoft.  This is a public forum from user to user hosted by Microsoft on its servers for the comfort of its clients, and we all here are volunteers.

You say you use XP.  What is your question?  What do you mean 'conflicts with Vista?

I suggest recovery discs you order from HP for your computer.  If HP is no longer the issue of stocks you can order such a third of Recovery - Disks.com.  There are several of these companies.  If you are going to use XP, you need to install XP from scratch and this means that you need XP drivers for your brand and model.  If HP has no XP drivers on your computer you must not try to use XP on it.

Remember that Vista Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate out of Microsoft support on 10 April and there will be more updates, including critical security patches after that date.  Only Vista business and company will continue to receive updates.  You might consider this a good time to upgrade to Windows 7.  You must download and run the Windows Update Advisor once you restored Vista successfully.
