Windows7-64 memory is up by Metafile

I have Windows7-64 and memory problem.  I have a new PC with 12 GB of RAM.  I have 4 TB of disk space. The problem is I have nothing on my PC but the memory usage is at 11.3 GB.  All the memory is exhausted.   My computer is very slow because of it.  Note, when I restart my computer, he slowly but surely began to use all the memory... yet I can't identify what this process.

Using the Windows Task Manager, I was unable to determine what process was taking all the memory.  The tab performance showed 11.3 GB of space used.  But the process tab doesn't show any process taking anywhere near this amount of memory.  I added all the values in the column 'Working Set (Memory)' and it adds up well less then 2 GB of memory used.

I downloaded the Microsoft RamMap.exe utility.  It shows that the majority of my memory is of the so-called "MetaFile".

What is "MetaFile"?

How can I get rid of this?

Please let me know.

Thank you.

Metadata of Windows (WMF) file is a file grtaphics. Do you have any graphic software running in the background?

Also can't hurt to update your drivers. Go to your computer manufacturer's support web site and search for Windows 7 drivers for your specific model number.

If you have Windows 7 drivers then download to a folder on your hard drive and install all of them, starting with the mother/chipset, SATA, LAN card drivers, Audio, Etc., and so on.

Check the download site of the manufacture of the graphics card for the latest Windows 7 drivers for your card.

    Hello

When your computer doesn't have enough memory for all the actions it is trying to perform, Windows and your programs can stop working. To help prevent information loss, Windows will inform you when your computer is low on memory. You can also learn to recognize the signs of low memory and take measures to prevent the problem. Insufficient memory problems occur when your computer is running out of RAM and becomes virtual memory. This can happen when you run more programs that the RAM memory installed on the computer is designed to support. Low-memory problems can also occur when a program free up memory that it needs more. This problem is called memory overuse or a memory leak.

You can consult the following Microsoft articles and check if it helps.

  • find the real problem between memory and processor or beween food and virus!

    Hello

In addition to the pieptones how you can know if the problem is with CPU or memory, how you can distinguish the problem if there is a real problem whith one of this material in two?

just to know I took off the memory of my laptop and I saw the screen went black, I did the same thing with the processor, and it had the same sign as the dark memory screen.

    so my question is,

    1. How do I know when this two material is damaged one who is the origin of the problem whitout having any reserve memory by me? is there any tool material memory Tester?

    2. sometimes computer restarts every few minutes when there a supply or virus problem, how you can distinguish the problem if it is based on the power supply or a virus by the desktop computer whitout having any multimeter by you, is there a tool like a pen that you can measure the power supply of power or the volt?

all good advise from the experience is welkom

    Thank you

    Johan

If it's a failure of defective material, sometimes, you will get the BIOS beeps that can give clues to what's wrong - http://www.pchell.com/hardware/beepcodes.shtml

There are testers of memory around like - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer or see http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/tp/memorytest.htm

defects of power supply - search the net for articles like http://www.techrepublic.com/article/learn-to-troubleshoot-power-supply-problems/ (there are many other tips) BUT PAY Attention when messing around with the power supply. Obvious care to avoid damage to the PC or worse, damaging yourself!

viruses - there are many scanners available as http://www.malwarebytes.org/ if malware your PC is stable enough to run them. If your PC does not start there are scanners bootable, you can download it from a certain AV companies, you can start your PC and then from the scanner.

NOTE: If you download software, download from a site deemed safe and always fully AV check on a system that works before you install or run - just to be sure.

    2. Have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

Memory could not be written can be caused by:

I wanted more video memory and I bought the agp card. After installing it, my ram went up to 2.5 GB. I changed all the settings in the bios, and nothing happened. I went to the rescource windows manager and he says that 1.5 GB of ram's material reserved. The graphics card is a card of 512 MB and I have a little more than a gigabyte of video memory shared. So that means that im missing a gigabyte of ram somewhere I was curious if I could take RAM back somehow.

  • New PC and integrated Windows 7 hangs momentarily after racing game.

Thus, the title says it all, my computer currently marks a 7.3 (5.9 in the calculation) score off the 7.9, it does, however, for reasons that I can't come up with (it's 3:00 and I have a little juggled on it for several hours and assistance or advice would be welcome).

I describe what's happening: I start a game, DoW 2, my PC is well able to handle the graphics and the game play is smooth without any latency problems, action camera jerky, missing animations or something similar.  I play the game for about 10 minutes... And the computer automatically restarts without warning.

I have no idea what is the cause, something, sure I'll have a hunch would be food (I remember being told it gives 530 watts, while the graphics card requires 550 watts... would that be?) It would not cause the PC crash at startup? I was told that he wouldn't at the store...)

    Hello windflash,

I was looking on this thread and is deeply concerned that your drive starts to spin in RAW format.  It worries me because that drives not just do it on their own.  The drive is slowly failing or something else is causing corruption in the file system.

Based on the process you described, I am sure you did not just to find a virus only once, but several times, making sure that software and definitions are up-to-date.

I want to say here is that if we have a player who begins to turn in RAW format and there is no obvious causes of software, then we must consider the possibility that the drive is failing slowly on us.  Since there is no way of knowing how long it may or may not have, I would recommend an immediate backup of all important data.

When the data has been saved, we make a diagnosis of material on the disc.  This is something that the manufacturer of your offer.

You may also want to check the RAM as well-both with Windows 7 utility and diagnostics supplied by the manufacturer.

Information on the tester memory provided by Microsoft at the following link:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer

Let us make sure that the material is stable, because we can not guarantee that the software will work well if its on hardware that does not work.

I suggest you to do the Windows Memory Diagnostic tests on Win 7:

    For more information read below:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer

Always do a thorough memory analysis that require several hours, analysis Standard, skip the problems. While scanning will start on the blue background screen after reboot, then go to the option & select 'Extended '.

Essentially analyzes your dump I don't have any particularly unstable application. This happens while a fault memory.

In the next post you should tell us in detail about the brand of memory, each module, the bandwidth capacity etc. If the RAM is defective you will get the replacement from your hardware vendor.

While posting in the forum of Win 7 the new position must contain this thread link too; as it help other users to know your tests/tests to solve the problem and won't get any duplicate suggestion which is already given by me.

Hope a Windows Memory Diagnostic test will solve the problem.
