'WindowsUpdate_80070663 '.

Hello! I use Windows Vista Home Premium.
The following update always failed: update of security for the Microsoft 2007 System.
Code: 80070663.

I've seen the same problem on this forum, someone else had, and I did as told, that is to add the missing registry entries, but I could not always up to date.

The first thing I would say when troublehsooting this error is to run the following command from an Admin command prompt.  This is going to re - register the Windows Installer service.

    1. click on start / run and type CMD and press on enter
-In Vista, press Start, in the search box, type CMD and right click on the command prompt that appears above, choose Run as administrator
    2. type the following command "MSIEXEC/REGSERVER" and press enter
    3. close the command prompt window, restart the computer and try the update again

If it still fails, try the following solution below.

I saw some people to solve their problem by using the Windows Installer Cleanup utility to remove the application in question (Microsoft Office, .NET Framework 3.5) then reinstall the application, then try the updates again.

    See the following article:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/932857

The article details that you must remove the Microsoft Office registry entries, and then reinstall Microsoft Office.  If you encounter the problem with .net Framework 3.5 updated partners updated, try to remove the .net Framework 3.5, then reinstall .net Framework 3.5, and then reinstall the update.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello Tyree53,

Thank you for your message.  Could you please specify what updates are trying to install when you receive this error?

In the meantime, see this thread for a possible solution.

To find the updates fail, please read below:

Click Start, click all programs, and then click Windows Update.

On the Windows Update Web page, click view update history.  A window opens which displays all the
updates that have been installed or that have failed to install on the computer.

In the State of this window column, find the update failed to install, and then click the red X.

When clicked, a new window opens that displays the installation error code.

    Hi bumper612,

Because you can not updated at all, you can go ahead and reset the Windows update components and check if this solves the problem.

For more information, see the link below:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

To reset the Windows Update components automatically, click the fix it button or link. Click on run in the file download dialog box and follow the steps described in the fix it Wizard.

Note this fix it Solution has two modes by default and aggressive. You must run the fix it solution in default mode and determine if it solves your problem with Windows Update before running it in aggressive mode.
