  I have a user who has been connected to the internet through our SBS server.  All of a sudden, it can connect to the server (although very slowly) but unable to connect to the internet.  The network and sharing shows that it is connected to a public network not by the domain server.

  I hooked another computer for network wiring and it worked fine.  I changed the wiring, and it still doesn't work.

  Any ideas?

  I have a HP Pavilion a1710n 64 Dual Core Processor running Windows Vista Home Premium.

  I was trying to understand why the windows installer did not work on my son's account. I went in systems and changed to start and automatic manual. Rebooted PC and the firewall do not come. Tried to do a restore, but failed and lost all my restore points.

I deleted everything and still no connection to the internet. Next Tech had me run Combofix and says everything should run fine after that. Still no connection to know Tech # 3 had executed me guests of orders with ping commands. Finally, he had me check the auto config button and that's where I discovered the two buttons were lit. Tech said "can't be." Well it is. That's when I tried to roll back the driver, but no luck so tech says only option is to restore the whole system.

  GRRRR... After several internet searches that I'm about to do except nothings saved and whenever I try to use my backup and restore fails.

  Any help would be appreciated. I'm still fairly new to PCs so please be patient with me. Laughing out loud

  I know that my options have been counted, I was able to save what was important and made a full system recovery. I am happy to say that I'm back on the internet.

  The serial number of the computer has nothing to do with the product key for Windows.

  What happened when you tried to install Xp with sp3? If you do not have the original for the computer that you use to install Windows?

  Since there is no integration PAM for ESXi, you cannot authenticate to ESXi itself using active directory.  -What are you talking about?  You can always have virtual machine with windows and active directory.

  1. have you installed the latest drivers for the hard disk, mentioned in the previous post?

  I suggest that you connect the hard drive to another computer to check if it is broken.

  Also check in Device Manager for the status of the hard drive.

  2 did you a recent software or hardware changes to the system?

  You can try the following steps and check if it helps:
