Wireless communication is disabled - Satellite A660

This is the second time this question has had this machine. The first time, it has been resolved by applying the defaults in the BIOS.
Now, 6 months later it's back:
The wireless switch is turned on. If I push the button it goes off for a second then turns back on. By pressing functionF8 gives this error: "Wireless Communication is disabled. Please activate the wireless communication switch "." Networking troubleshooting said to turn on the wireless capability.

I have:
1 opportunity F9 and F10 in Bios to reapply the default settings
2 remove the card entries from Device Manager (Microsoft & Realtek) wireless network and restarted.
3. apply the latest version of the BIOS and rebooted.

None of them have had no effect on the issue.
Can anyone help?

    Hello

I just bought one of these 2 days. The first day wireless worked perfectly, but now it doesn't detect a network. When I do FN + F8 I get a message saying 'wireless communication is disabled. Please activate the switch of communication. " But it is on and seems to be running.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

What is the WLan card status in Device Manager?
    You have no yellow exclamation?

Even if the yellow exclamation point is not visible in Device Manager, uninstall the WLan driver and reboot the device. Download the most recent update of the driver WLan from here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/ and reinstall.

I hope this helps to resolve the issue.

  • Satellite A660 Wireless does not work: how to turn on the wireless switch?

Wireless to the new laptop just stopped working. When I press Fn + f8 it says: Wireless Communication is disabled. Please activate the Wireless Communication switch.

I tried to disable and enable wireless, update (Realtek PCie FE family controller) and Broadcom 802.11n network adapter driver and load the default settings in the Bios but nothing has worked. The button on the top panel wireless is turned on and when I press the button, a window called support thoshiba button jump upward and said: the key has not been configured. But this happens to other laptops also (we have 8 portable type, even), it cannot use the wifi. What can I do now?

    Hello

Please reinstall the Wlana driver and try again. (Do not to update to uninstall the old driver, restart the device and install the new drivers)
In most cases these disorders Wlan is displayed if the WiFi driver does not work correctly.
Given that all other laptops are ok, I think that it is a temporal matter in the registry or something like that

PS: It is possible that the FN buttons do not work corectly. Therefore, you can reinstall the VAP (value added package) and support of card Flash Utility so in order to reconfigure the FN keys.

  • How to enable the WLAN on Satellite A660-181?

My wifi doesn't work. After a while my laptop was himself disabled wifi and now whenever I press Fn + f8 it says: Wireless Communication is disabled. Please activate the Wireless Communication switch.

I tried to reinstal drivers for wifi but nothing has changed. I saw on the internet that some versions of HWsetup you can chose betwin the wireless market.
I found no key on this laptop to turn on wifi so it seems to be a soft problem... Broadcom 802.11n and Realtec PCie controller family work very well.

Can someone tell me how to solve this problem?

    Hi metalkorka,

I think the problem is that you have removed Toshiba Value added Package because it the necessary tool for the FN keys. In addition, you should also Flash Cards Support utility.

I have the Satellite A660 in front of me with Windows 7 and everything works great, I have problems. It s really great notebook and I like it a lot. I'm so happy with it.

In your case I would reinstall these two tools of the official website of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Remove the old version of the utility of Flash Cards and VFR first and then restart your computer. I would also recommend CCleaner, which can fix and clean the registry of Windows running. A restart more and you can with installation of VAP and Flash Cards Support utility.

  • No Satellite A660-1DW no available connection & the State of the map down

    Hello

Earlier this evening, I closed my laptop, its implementation mode 'sleep', while the battery is dead in mode 'sleep'. When I opened my machine up once again to go online (via radio) icon wireless (bottom left of the screen), showed a red x over the bars, declaring (unrelated - No. connections available)

The symbol wireless between the speakers and next to the power button is on, but when I press FN + F8, it indicates "wireless communication is disabled. Please activate the Wireless Communication switch.
Also, the wireless light on the right side of my laptop is not on.

When I click "Troubleshoot" he says just "turn wireless capability", but it is already on!

There is no problem with my router or modem that I can not connect my HTC Desire phone, through the same wireless connection.

"When I open my Toshiba Board and go to Wireless & network, and then he said:" adapter status: Down "the doctor to connectivity and Wireless Lan ' Type 80211" wireless

I tried to uninstall the adapter and drivers, don't know if I done this properly and reinstalled but it still doesn't work. I also tried a restore of the system again, did not work.

Any ideas, or specific details / I need to give to allow anyone to find a solution.

p.s. I can connect via ethernet cable.

    Hay buddy

Please note that person don't sit at home and wait for new assignments to answer. Your ad is a few days here and sooner or later, someone will react and write an own opinion.
I know that several other forums Toshiba where you can wait for weeks and no one will write a Word so please stay cool.

On this virtual path, it is not easy to say what may be the problem. What you need to do is to restart windows and also of your router. After restarting windows enable WLAN card and sweep the area to see if your WLAN will be visible.

Also check if the wireless adapter is listed and installed in Device Manager. According to specification for laptop, your laptop has Broadcom BCM94313 WLAN card inside. Latest version of the driver you can find on http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/?page=downloads

  • Satellite A660-18 - Solution for WLAN switch disabled people

I finally solved this annoying problem, my laptop is a Satellite A660-18

Out of the box it just wouldn't connect to the wireless network. With the combination of keys Fn + F8 of the report: "Wireless communitcation is disabled, please enable the wireless communication switch.

Of course there is no such switch, just the FN + F8 key combination. After having tried various forums and technical support, I solved the problem myself.

    The solution is:
Go to the folder on your c drive "program files\Toshiba\TBS. Then scroll down the list of program files and double-click the file named TBSWireless.exe and hey presto, wireless communication goes on (Amber Light lights on the lower right front of the computer). Now the combination of FN + F8 key it will turn on and.

    Bye to all

    Absolutely great job, Fin_1!

Thanks for this solution, but I have to say that I didn't notice this problem on my Satellite A660 but it might be useful for other owners A660 :)

  • Turn on wireless - Satellite A660 - 18

    Toshiba Satellite A660 - 18

I used this laptop to connect to the internet via a wireless connection, since I bought the camera a few months ago 3.
A little more than a week there is wireless and I have not been able to connect via a wireless connection, cable connection is correct.

When I check to see what the problem is dialogue "wireless communication is disalbled - please activate the wireless communication switch. Another dialog box also appears when I trouble shoot elsewhere 'Turn on the use of the wireless switch on the front or side of the computer keys or function if it is available to turn on wireless on this computer'.

I tried with F8 FN - but it says operate the wireless communication switch - as far as I know there is no manual switch for switching wireless power?

Any help would be fantastic, as it has become a pain.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

The FN + F8 toggles between the Bluetooth, WiFi, and the WAN.
Please do not forget that you selected WLan!
In addition, the WLan led should blink ambler if WLan is enabled.

If this is not possible, check if the WLan driver update could help solve this problem.

  • Satellite L600: How can I turn off the Wireless Communication switch?

Hello! Would be very grateful for any help... After struggling for 3 months that I finally registered here in the hope of getting help.

    I have a new Satellite L600 / Win7 Home Premium.
My question is that I don't know where the wireless switch is to turn off COMPLETELY wireless.

Whenever I start the wireless (orange) light turns on automatically.
I have to wait until finish and turn off manually by Fn + F8.

When I opened ConfigFree (or doctor of connectivity), the diagnosis on the left bottom says [STATUS"switch of Wireless Communication: WE]
This tells me that the main switch is somehow always THERE.

Twice I called Toshiba and they couldn't find it either.
They said that the new versions of the BIOS does not...? And for this model, there is no physical switch built on the PC itself.

I have looked everywhere and did the following:

    (1) disable the adapter in Device Manager.
    (2) in HWSetup, where there used to be an option to click on the switch wireless off, he's gone.
    (3) I went into the BIOS setup and could find nothing remotely related to without wireless/bluetooth to switch.

I wonder why there is a wireless laptop with light permanently? But if it is enabled, there must be a way to turn it off. Press Fn + F8 every time at startup is not a long-term solution because the risk is that I'll forget someday).

My last laptop was hacked until it's an absolute priority that I know how to disable all wireless functions. So even if I have to do through the commands, I'll try it. In addition, I do not know if anyone else experience the same thing with this model, or is it a default of my particular PC?

Any help or even experience will be much appreciated, thank you.

I disabled the card in the Device Manager.

When I opened ConfigFree, connectivity doctor tells me the Wireless Communication switch: WE

    > My question is that I cannot find where the wireless switch is to turn off COMPLETELY wireless.

There is no hardware switch that would allow to enable or disable the WiFi network.
WLan can be turned on and off using the FN + F8 key combination.

    > When I open ConfigFree (or doctor of connectivity), the diagnosis on the left bottom says STATUS\ ' Wireless Communication switch: on it tells me the main switch is somehow always WE.

What is the status of the WLAN if you check in network connections?
The WiFi network is always on?
If not then the WiFi connection turned off and I wouldn't be worried by the fact that ConfigFree says that it s THERE.

Of course, you can disable the wireless network adapter in Device Manager. Just mark the Wlan card under network adapters and turn off your device. But believe me; It s enough to do using FN + F8 ;)

  • Satellite A660-14 days - slow internet wireless

    Hello

I have the Satellite A660-14 days and if I plug a cable (UTP) the speed of the internet (Firefox, IE, FTP,...) are OK (1,1 MB/s).
But if I use the wireless (Broadcom adapter) network connection, speed is 0.5 MB/s.

All software and drivers are up to date. 'Power save mode' of the wireless adapter is set to "maximum performance".
Firewall and antivirus have been disabled. WiFi signal strength was excellent.
In addition, I have another laptop (not Toshiba) with the same software configuration (OS - Win 7, Antivirus,...) and it works fine with the same router.

I wonder if there are known issues with the Broadcom wireless adapter or its drivers.

    Kind regards
    Robert

    > But Toshiba with its (802.11n) wireless network adapter working so slow (less than half of my old notebook speed). This is not normal. Everything is up-to-date and I also reinstall the NETWORK adapter driver.

Go to-> WLan card device manager-> properties-> Advanced tab
Here you can change the standard 802.11 G only!
Disable in Win 7 the power management of the WLan energy saving options.
    This would improve performance

  • Trouble with a Satellite A660 wireless.

    I just bought a Toshiba Satellite A660.

I can not connect to wireless internet. The wireless network is on and it is able to pick up wireless networks. I know that I have the right password (I also tried with unsecured networks) The Wireless tries to connect - request the password - and then says 'Unable to connect to the network' and the bar "troubleshooting."

    So far I have tried:
-Connect to different networks, including friends, school and not protected with the same results.
-Uninstall and reinstall the Belkin Wireless driver (and making sure that I have the most updated version), restart the computer each time.
    -Restart the router
    -ip renew and refresh

All the time, it's the same problem. It does not recognize when an incorrect password has been entered, just somehow, it is impossible to make this final connection.

However, there is also no problem to connect directly to the router with an Ethernet connection.

All other computers in the House - one of them is a Toshiba Qosmio are works well and can connect. I had endeavoured to put the laptop up to similar parameters like the Qosmio, but also nothing helped.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Satellite A660 - Broadcom internal wireless adapter does not work

    Hi all

My first post to this forum - I have a new laptop of Toshiba Satellite A660 - only had for about 4 weeks and it turns out be a disaster for me...

Firstly - I spend weeks getting everything on and configured as I want - then the hard drive begins to die...

I just returned it service center Toshiba and NOW wifi has stopped working...
Internal broadcom wireless adapter doesn't work - but according to windows and built-in Diagnostics it works...

HOWEVER - when I try to use wireless with the built-in adapter may not detect all wireless networks...

I then plug in my adapter netgear usb wireless backup and I can pick up and connect both of my wireless home networks...
I am moving abroad in a few weeks and need to know that my laptop will work/be reliable and not have any problems-if anyone can help me with this, it would be much appreciated.

    John.
