Wireless network password recovery

I know this door forum on MSE, must start somewhere.  When I bought this computer I had to set up a password to set up

my home network wireless.  Today, we bought an i-phone, claiming the network password.

Could not find what he and my 'normal' password does not work.

Anyone who is familiar, if the password for the wireless configuration can be recovered?  How?

Thank you

You may need to reset the password for wireless router or reset the router itself.

    Hi Snbush,

If you don't remember the password registered for you wireless, you can always reset your router to the factory default settings. For information about how to do this with your router, plesae consult the router's manual or contact the manufacture of the router.

  • Several airports of different generation, providing a wireless network

We have all of these devices in our home airport, both extreme and Express. Some are 802.11n, some are 802.11 g, draft 802.11n, and 802.11 ac. I can give them all the same wireless SSID to create a seamless network, right? Would it not an issue in my case because they use different wireless standards?

In case you wonder why we have so much, our house walls block radio signals (not by design), so a station can usually cover only a very small area.

If all airports will be connected by Ethernet, you can configure all to use the same name of the wireless network, the same level of wireless security and the same wireless network password. All airports except perhaps the "main" airport will have to be configured to run in Bridge Mode works correctly.

The old "802.11 b/g' airport cannot be configured using one of the newer operating systems on a Mac like El Capitan, Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion, etc."  You will need a Mac running Leopard or Snow Leopard to be able to put in place the former unit of the airport.

The real problem you may have is that most of the devices will automatically switch from one airport to another since they change the situation around the House.  Portable Mac computers will usually do a very good job, but mobile devices as iPhone, iPad, tablets, PCs, etc. won't do this very well... If they all.

So you will have to get used to temporarily disable WiFi on most of the devices when they change location... then turning back on WiFi so the unit will come hope that the signal from the nearest airport.

  • C4380 change wireless security password

I am really stuck and frustrated.

I need to change JUST my wireless network password and not the name SSID etc.

When I go through the installation I get to the point where displays a list of wireless networks and my network is displayed, but if I select this I don't have the chance to enter a password.

It goes directly to checking the connection, which of course not that the password is wrong. See the pictures below

I tried to reset the default values for network printing, but I always get the same result.

If I try to enter a different SSID then I have the chance to enter a password (not sure wireless network)

    Why is it so difficult?

    Help, please

    Well I fixed it.

Can you believe I had to reconfigure my router to a different SSID name.

Put these settings in the C4380

Then change my SSID to what it should be

and put the correct settings in the c4380

Clearly, something is missing in the software / firmware / hardware that allows you to completely remove all of the memory of the SSID

YOUR HELP WILL BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED!

Open your browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar. The default username is admin and the default password is the password if you have not changed it. On the router configuration page, select 'Wireless Settings' in the left column. You can set up a new SSID, security type, and password here. If you have changed the default user name and the password to the router configuration page, use the reset button on the back of the router to reset to the factory settings and proceed as above.

  • (password) wireless network security key - try to get my saved new

I have a gateway of 3-4 years with windows xp. I'm just trying to get my new key of network access (p/p) saved for my use wireless. I tried several times to enter 2 different areas where request you a code on my computer, but after I typed in it and come back, there always the old password key (now evil) in it. so I have a long key wireless, it takes time to type twice in my computer. can someone tell me how to get my new key replaced and be saved it?

Usually, once you connect to a wireless network, the details of the connection, including the password is saved in a "profile" for the wireless network.  In the configuration of your wireless network, look for a profile for your network.  When you find it, select it and delete it.  After deletion, then reconnect to your network and your new password must then be registered in a newly created profile.

  • "Cannot connect to the network." When you enter the correct password for wireless network

    Hello

I have the HP Photosmart C7200 all-in-One series.

This seems relatively insignificant compared to some of the problems posted here, but nevertheless it is a problem.  I have a Verizon FiOS (Actiontec) router.  I am trying to connect to it wireless; the network key is using WPA authentication.  I followed all the instructions in the quick start guide.

My printer detects my network and application authentication key.  I enter the correct key, the printer is trying to establish a connection, but after about 15 to 25 seconds, I get the error message, "cannot connect to the network.  I know that my key is correct; I connect to my router very well through several laptops, PDA, etc.  I have reset the settings network default manufacturer and tried without success.

I don't know what kind of trouble shooting I'm supposed to do here.  The printer detects the router (albeit low signal strength) whenever I try to connect, I enter the password each time and I get the error each time.

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

Edit: I printed the test report wireless network, here are the results:

    Radio on   PASS

    The radio work   PASS

Ethernet cable not plugged in   PASS

    Network name (SSID found)   PASS

    Security   PASS

The printer settings compatible with the configuration of the wireless router   PASS

No filtering   IN CASE OF FAILURE

    Connected   Not work

    The signal strength   Very low

Other networks detected matching you the network name (SSID)   NO.

I know this sounds strange, but try changing channel by channel 11 of the wireless router.

  • I'm trying to access a wireless network with the password provided for me. I get the following error message

I'm trying to access a wireless network with the password provided for me. I get the following error message: "the network password needs to be 40bits or 104bits depending on your network configuration. This can be entered as 5 or 13 characters ascii or hexadecimal 10 or 26. "what does this error message mean and how do I address so that I can access the wireless network?

I use XP Professional with service pack 3. I get this error message every other time I try to log in to a protected wireless network security. I used to not get this message; but, now, it may be impossible, sometimes to call all wireless providers when I might only need for a short period or after hours service opening.

In addition, it is my computer that requires the network password to be different, not the provider of wireless. A password is given to me who works for other users, but my computer won't let me use it.

You try to login with the wrong encryption method and you have this implemented extremely secure wireless network.

Have a computer connected to the router with an ethernet cable. Examples given are for a Linksys router. See the manual of your router or the router mftr's Web site. for the parameters by default if you don't have a Linksys. Open a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox and in the address bar type:

http://192.168.1.1 [Enter] (it is default IP address of the router, which varies from router to router then check your manual)

This will bring you to the login screen of the router. The default username is blank and the Linksys default password is "admin" without the quotes. Enter this information. You are now in the configuration of the router utility. Your configuration utility may be slightly different from mine. The first thing to do is to change the default password because * all * known default passwords for different routers.

Click the Administration link at the top of the page. Enter your new password. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE. Re-enter the password to confirm it, and then click Save settings at the bottom of the page. The router will reboot and show you the box of connection again. Do not fill in the user name and put it in your new password to enter the configuration utility.

Now, click on the link wireless at the top of the page. Change the network name (SSID) wireless by default to something, you'll recognize. I suggest that my clients not use their surname as the SSID. For example, you might want to name your network wireless network "CastleAnthrax" or similar. ;-)

Click on save settings and when you get the prompt that your changes were successful, click the wireless security link which is just beside the Basic Wireless Settings link (where you changed your SSID). Most computers purchased during the last 4 years have the wireless hardware that will support WPA2-Personal (also known as WPA2-PSK). This is the desired encryption level. If your wireless hardware is older, use WPA. Don't use WEP, because who is easily broken within minutes. So go ahead and set the Security Mode WPA2-Personal. Do this and enter a password. For example, you could use the password ' here be dragons, beware you scurvy dogs! The password is what you enter on all computers that are allowed to connect to the wireless network. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE.

At this point, your router is set up and if the computer that you use to configure the router will normally connect wireless, disconnect the ethernet cable and wireless of the computer should see your new network. Enter the password that you have created (exactly as you wrote it with all capital letters and punctuation) to join the network and start surfing. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

I can always print to this printer via the USB cable, but it is not found on the wireless network.

Is there an easy way to reset the password that the printer uses, so we'll see on the wireless network?
