  I have a home network wirelessly with a computer (64) of windows 7 and a Photosmart c7280 printer all-in-one.  When I look on the network, I see my network card and at the bottom it says printer cannot be placed on the network.  I then click on see other devices on the network and I can see my computer, router, media player and the same printer - at least of the same name - as a device that could not be placed on the network.   Is this normal and is it a problem to have it.  The name that I see in these two places is the hostname I gave the printer.  Thanks for any help.

  I think that what you see is the printer as discovered by Universal Plug and Plug, known as UPnP.  The main feature of this, he seems to find the printer and the host name is part of the same name.  You really can't get rid of it because it comes right away again when Windows find the printer on the network.  It can be ignored as it will not interfere with normal HP software that can be installed on the computer.

  Well, I can't comment officially, but I'm sure that has been discussed in, and design changes avoid this problem.

  Regarding something is through HP, you could call the HP Technical Support and check if you have options to upgrade to a new printer. They should have a list of printers and prices offered as part of the upgrade process. There is no charge to call and check the options you have.   My printer is located on the second floor of our House. It is connected to our network with the modem and the router to the first floor where my wife's computer. This connection works fine.

  My problem is that my printer only works if connected to my computer with a USB cable. This limits the use of a number of functions of the printer. Print the test pages that I myself say the printer is connected to the home network, but the printer will not work without the USB cable that turns off the Wireless function.

  Most of the instructions I've read show that I need to be connected to the modem downstairs to work. It is not possible that I can tell.

  Is there a way to fix this? or is a wireless connection to my printer not possible with this configuration?

  Welcome to the HP Forum.

  You don't mention what kind of computer of mystery that you have and try to use the printer.

  Assuming that the full feature software is available for the operating system of your computer, this may solve the problem - multiple computers can print once installed wireless printing software.  I hope that your computer is among the supported systems.

  General instructions to install the printer software

  Reminder:

  1. In most cases, the Solution Center has been replaced by the wizard of the printer.
  2. Shortcuts to the Printer Wizard must be installed on your desktop during the last part of the installation.

  Windows operating system:

  • Create a Restore Point: create a restore - Win7 Point OR create a restore point Win8
  • Open drivers HP & downloads
  • Enter your printer model information
  • Select your printer in the list of the 'results '.

  OR

  • Open printer HP Officejet 6700 Premium e-All-in-One - H711n drivers
  • Enter your operating system the menu drop-down
  • Click NEXT and scroll down
  • Find the driver - product Installation software category
  • Select the driver of base, e-print, or full software functionality
  • Save the package *.exe Setup on your computer

  We are working on a script to create multiple virtual machines from a template. The script works fine, but when we try to include commands to set the NIC to a group of specific ports on a dvswitch script errors on. Here's what we have so far. This script (less network variables) works, but we would like to include the network configs in the script as well.

  You cannot use the - model and Networkname - parameters of the cmdlet New - VM in a single order, because both are in different parameter sets.   my company is in the process of upgrading to Windows 7 and we have a few applications using RoboHelp

  (.chm) files help which is stored on the network.  In XP, everything worked fine, but all pages now display "page cannot be found".  If I copy the files on my c: drive then they open fine.  Most have been created in previous versions of Robohelp, so I thought this might be the only problem and upgraded to RoboHelp 7, but that has not changed anything.  I read in other posts that there are some problems with RoboHelp on the network, but I can't avoid it...  Is there some network settings that can be changed or is this maybe fixed in RoboHelp 8?  I can't put on a request to my boss to upgrade unless I have solid evidence, it will work...

  I think that Colum misundersood you. I understand ask you if this is fixed in version 8 sense "RoboHelp 8" not Windows 8.

  When it askes for the DNS information, enter in Google DNS. Preferred DNS = DNS Alt = 8.8.4.4 8.8.8.8

  This could increase the stability of the network connection to the printer downstairs.  If this does not help, let me know what OS is on the computer causing problem, because that could cause a problem?  Other than that, you can check the quality of the signal you get form the network and see if this can be a problem.

  You can use the USB connection, however, your printer lacks an Ethernet (aka the network cable).

  You can certainly use the USB to a computer, and this computer will be able to print and scan.  However, if you share this printer with other computers on your network, only the printing function will be shared, not sweeping.
