Wireless Vista SP2 issues

First, I installed SP2 for Vista x 64 may 27 by a wired LAN connection. This night there I couldn't connect wirelessly to the internet at the hotel. Checked for problems with the ISP and none have been detected. The next day I uninstalled SP2 and the problem disappeared. Today, I went through the same process at home. Same result. After installation of SP2, my wireless modem will allow me to connect, but after I relock my system I lose my connection. I even spoke of "technical support" in India today and got no help at all. EVERYONE > THE WORLD?

Hi Coul45,

Are you able to connect to Internet after installing Vista SP2 but the wireless connection is lost after the computer is locked, you can follow the steps below and check if that helps.

1 > try to perform a process of clean boot on the computer and check if it helps. Here is the link to perform the clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/929135

2 > try to update the wireless adapter driver.

3 > check the power management Options in the properties of the wireless network adapter driver.

4 > try to check with a new user account as well.

Please let me know if this helps you.

I installed the x 64 SP2 of Vista on my computer. So far, I've noticed two problems:
    1. no is longer automatically updates Windows Defender . I have to do a manual update, which means that I have to "remember" to do. Really want to have the automatic update to work again.
    2. I've noticed that when I use the application Help & Support, the graphics do not appear. I just get a glimpse of the box with the red X (as you get on a site web - a placeholder for graphics).

What should I do to solve these two problems?

Before I updated the system to SP2, I have not either of these issues. That by applying the SP2 update. I have not installed new software, drivers, etc. Since the update to SP2.

    Thanks, Barb

After reading many groups of Vista online, I finally found a page that responds to the problem of no graphics in the help and Support application. Here is the link in case anyone has the same problem (http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/87497-help-support-vista.html). It worked perfectly for me when I used 2 Option.

I will now call this topic resolved and closed.

  • Vista SP2 wireless connection drops

People, I know this question has been asked before, but I can't find a solution to my problem.  I've had my Dell laptop for about 6 months now and it worked perfectly, without any problem wireless connection.  On Sunday, August 9, I installed Vista SP2.  It updated no problem at all, but once he did his final reboot, it connected to my wireless router for about 5 minutes, then dropped connection.  Now, when you restart it only connects for a minute or two wireless then abandons connection.  I then uninstalled SP2 but it has not solved the problem with wireless.  My wireless adapter is an Atheros AR5007 and drivers are all up to date.

Anyone know how I can fix this so that my wireless signal stay tuned as he used to pre SP2?
    Thank you.

  • Problems of network and Vista SP2

I read a lot of discussion and of internet articles explaining the problems with Vista SP2 update. I have 3 PC / laptop on my home network. A PC with Vista SP2 (cable), a Sony notebook (wireless) with Vista SP1 and a portable IBM (wired) with XP Pro SP3.

The SP2 from Vista PC has several symptoms, all pointing to a single cause. I've updated to IE8 at the same time, but also have a problem with Firefox. Subsequently, but with repeated reboot iTunes downloads. Copies of files network NAS also experience time-out issues. Even ping the IP of the gateway translates to periodic messages out "request timed." This highlights a problem with the network or the IP stack drivers.

I checked that I use the last available network driver. I also disabled IPv6. No change.
Occaisionaly than other experiences of the peripheral issues (laptop computer IBM and Sony), but these were resolved only after the Netgear gateway is restarted.

The network has operated in this configuration for several months without errors. The Netgear gateway running the latest firmware. No suggestions have led or has proposed a solution.

You go to the site of the manufacturer of the device and look for the latest driver? As Realtek, IDT, or that which
Do such unit as listed in the manufacturer of the device. Often the real device manufacturer will have newer drivers
the system and certainly most recent manufacturer this update of drivers of in Device Manager.
(MS is far behind the drivers of certification).

Manually, look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers: this for the real device manufacturer

  • Blue screen after Windows Vista SP2 installed on my TouchSmart IQ770

All, I came across this thread, after having the same problem (constant BSOD after Vista SP2) installed.  The fix referenced by MS that contains a placeholder file.  However, this most recent patch http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975163/ contains even more recent versions of all the files in question.

For this installation, I went to safe mode and disabled the wireless network card.  I copied the fix of a usbstick on the desktop.  After the reboot of the machine was stable enough to install this fix (before it would break before the fix might get installed).  After the restart, yet once again, I have reactivated the wireless card.

The system seems to be stable again (its place for over an hour now, the previous record was 5 minutes approximately from SP2)
