WMP is NOT recognize m4a music

I just did a clean install of Windows 7. Trying to play Apple Lossless m4a. WMP has NOT played out of the box, if AAFC did.

Finally got ALAC plays by adding in a filter Quicktime/WMP flea market. But now all my w4a files appear in other media ' "WMP... not under 'music '. So part of my music (mp3) are in the folder music, with all the correct information and album art tags and the majority of my music (m4a) are in the "other media" could not be added to playlists. WMP recognizes tags, it doesn't show them as in 'Music '.

I found what I was hoping would be a work around. When a m4a is renamed to be a Mp4, it appears correctly (that is, under the 'music'). However, WMP will NOT play a file with extension mp4. SO I know the m4a will appear in 'Music' with a change of extension, the tags will show all the way to the top (including album art), should be, he won't play. Change back to m4a, he plays very well, but it gets moved to the wrong place ('other media') and all music Formatting disappears.

How can I get WMP to add m4a to the area of music rather than other media? Or how do I add a media type to WMP so he treats a m4a a mp3 or mp4?

Thank you!

Hello

The .m4a extension is not a type of supported Windows Media Player file. However, you can user your favorite search engine to search for a solution that can convert the file in a supported file type Windows Media Player.

  • WMP does not recognize a folder with files inside MP3

I recently added a folder named LP Records to download music of old LPs that I have.  I created a sub folder with the name of the album and added the .mp3 files in each folder that I recorded the each LP record.  I did it for 11 albums and everything worked fine.  WMP showed them in the folder and I might add album art, etc.  But when I did exactly the same thing with the 12th album WMP would not recognize the folder/album.  After you restart the player, stop, record, etc., finally recognized the album but with only 7 songs, not the 12 that are in the folder.  I have also copy album art.  But now when I restart WMP (version 12) he does not at all - this album nothing appears.  I tried dragging the Explorer file in WMP open file, but she would not accept.

I should say that the first time I have created this file for some reason, it was a symbol of "lock" attached to the folder icon - don't know what happened there.  I created another folder and moved all the songs to it, deleted the original and renamed the new folder the name of the album.  When he recognized the first time, but then quit recognize it at all.

What should I do to get this album in WMP?

    Thank you
    Jim

    Hi Jim,.

Thanks for posting the request in the Microsoft Community.

According to the description, it seems that you have questions, adding a folder of music in Windows Media player.

To solve the problem, let's try some of these methods and check:

    Method 1:

We will run the Windows Media player troubleshooting library and check.

Open the troubleshooter in the Windows Media Player library

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Media-Player-library-Troubleshooter

    Method 2:

This problem can also occur when the Windows Media Player library database get corrupted.

To resolve this problem, delete the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. exit Windows Media Player.
    b. Click Start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player and then click OK.
    c. Select all files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.
Note You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.
    d. restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. exit Windows Media Player.
    b. Click Start, click Run, type % LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft and then click OK.
    c. Select the Media Player folder, and then click on Delete on the file menu.

  • WMP does not recognize the 3 different portable devices

I have a new PC Win 7 with WMP. My PC DID recognize 3 different portable devices, when I connect (an iphone a plane mp3 iriver and Sandisk fuze mp3 player.) But WMP does not recognize everything, even if the PC is. I've tried different USB ports on the PC, makes no difference, other than that, all works fine USB ports. And I didn't look at using WMP, which does not seem to realize that this problem can exist, no info at all.

How to make WMP to recognize so I can sync? And BTW, I'd like to go back to WMP in Vista, I'm bored of advanced tag editor.

    Thank you.

When you write that the PC recognizes your devices, you got the popup that says that each device has its driver installed and it was ready for use or that you just want to say that you get another indication that the device is connected?

What WMP version you have (click Help > about Windows Media Player; if you do not see the menu file/View/Play/tools/help, right-click at the top of WMP)?

    In general:

  • I can't sync my iPod to Windows Media Player. WMP does not recognize the iPod and I can't drag music files between them

My iPod is connected to the computer and it works fine with iTunes.  But I can't get the music in Windows Media Player to iPod.  When I try to sync in Windows Media Player, it does not recognize the iPod, and I can drag files from WMP to iTunes or the iPod.

You cannot synchronize an Apple product in itself using WMP, unless you buy a 3rd party. You must use iTunes.

    See you soon,.

  • WMP does not recognize my MP3 player

I plug the MP3 trying to sync music from WMP and it does not recognize. Nothing happens.

Looks like a problem with the USB port or the MP3 itself. I suggest that you try to plug something else into the port and also try the MP3 player on another PC, to see which of the two is causing problems.

  • After updating the BIOS, speakers produce no sound and iTunes and WMP did not recognize media files.

Hi people. I got an update of the BIOS that has been installed automatically today. Since the update I lost all sound to my speakers and for the most part, my headset plug into the socket. I ran troubleshooting (States that the speakers are working properly), I rolled back and updated the drivers audio, quadruple checked all the settings, did a hard reset... nothing seems to work for her. Have no idea while iTunes or WMP won't play all my music now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! (I have a HP Pavilion dv7 entertainment notebook running Windows 7)

    Hey vélorution,

I see that you are having a problem with not getting no sound after upgrading the Bios.
  • My WMP does not burn a music CD. I updated the audio music and when I click on burn turns into Media Disc.

For some reason, it is up to the data disk when I burn a CD. I always put to audio disc, but after that I click on burn it again changing data.

I fixed my problem. It was actually my mistake. I went to the store and buy music CD I, t, but they are DVD and were in the CD section. I do not notice at first. After using a music CD, it works fine. Thanks for the help.

  • creating Windows dvd does not recognize the music in my itunes library

I'm trying to finialize the title page for a slide show I did in windows movie maker, which includes several songs from my itunes library, but it will not be recognized all my itunes files. It allows me to choose the sample songs in the music folder however. any suggestions on how to add my music?

Windows, be it the media player, movie maker and DVD maker, do not accept MP4 file formats.
Windows do not accept Apple file formats, be it video or audio files.

Here is the list of formats of audio files supported by Windows:

    • Audio files: ".aif", ".aifc", ".aiff", ".asf", ".au", ".mp2", ".mp3", ".mpa", ".snd", ".wav" and ".wma".

Your itunes MP3 Google for an audio converter and change file formats. Then re - import to Movie Maker.

PS You can bypass Windows Movie Maker... as the title of your message create dvd windows says.
Use Windows DVD Maker and add your items directly in the creation of DVD.
You will still need to convert the audio files to itunes.

  • Sansa Clip - computer does not recognize the music file

I have a Sansa Clip 8 GB. It works OK. It connects to my PC (Windows 7) and fees. But when I open the music from the PC folder there is nothing in it. There is the music of the clip and he is playing. But nothing in the folder on my PC. The clip has the firmware version: v02.01.35A. His car is up to date. Any ideas?

Try changing the drive USB MSC mode by going to settings > system settings > USB. If you still don't see the files, try MTP mode. Files transferred in a mode are invisible to your PC when it is connected to the other mode (files transferred in both modes are still visible by the player himself, that's why they play even if the PC cannot find them). The third mode, "Automatic Detection", should be avoided because it can change between the MTP and MSC between sessions without warning, according to the whims of Windows.

  • Satellite L300D - 14G: ODD does not recognize music or discs softwear

There is no drivers on the toshiba site to download

    someone help please.

    Hello

You n t need all drivers! Windows 7 uses a drive CD/DVD from Microsoft.
There must be another reason why the disks of music or software are not recognized.

First of all I would recommend to change the registry.
    Remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Reboot the machine and then test drives

In addition, you will need to check if some 3rd party software like ITunes or other disc burning software would not affect the functionality of CD/DVD drive.
