  • Upgrade Windows Vista Home Premium (not the valid product key problem) to Windows 7 Home premium

My friend gave a laptop computer whose OS is Windows Vista Home Basic Edition.  I format the computer and install a Windows Vista Home Premium I have for my desktop computer.  Now, I have a problem with a product key.  When I start the laptop, it indicates a product key requirement.  I enter my desktop OS product key, but I still see the declaration valid product key.  My question is this.  If I buy the upgrade to Windows 7, the operating system will work in the laptop even if she has a problem with the product key.  If I buy Windows 7 upgrade, there will be no problem with the product key?  Or do I have to buy a new Windows Vista Home Premium for the laptop?  Or if you know anywhere I can buy a product key for Windows Vista with a reasonable price?  Thank you

You cannot transfer a license from another computer to another computer, especially if the license came with this machine. You will need to purchase a new license.

Yes, you can purchase a license of Windows 7 Edition upgrade Home Premium and use it.

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

I have a HP Pavilion Windows Vista Home Premium, and the D: drive is full. I don't understand how he got that way... but... I've never used windows to the top, however I do back up with my Norton Security.  I'm not a COMPUTER guru AT ALL and am very confused as to what must be saved for me to do a system restore.  I just made a backup on a 16 GB usb flash drive, which included photos, documents, email, contacts and music.  But what of my registry or my drivers I've updated on the latest updates of 2 years and windows?

So in plain English for the layperson to the computer, lol, can someone tell me...

    1. where should I back up to? (windows, norton?)

    2. what should I back up? EXACTLY, please. lol (I have hundreds of games, I don't want to back to the top if possible)

3 and... HOW MUCH ALCOHOL SHOULD I HAVE AVAILABLE WHILE TRYING THIS. LOL just kidding. Laughing out loud

    Hello

Updates must be installed in a certain order and no Service Pack must be installed unless and until it is offered through Windows Update.

    However, try these options:

Step 1: You can not reuse what already automatically downloaded and installed. You can however save updates and install them manually if you wish.

Step 2: You can create a system image on the computer. A system image is an exact copy of a disc. By default, a system image includes the drives required for Windows to run. In addition, it includes Windows and your system settings, programs and files. You can use a system image to restore the contents of your computer if your hard drive or computer ever stops working.

  • Validation in Windows Vista Home Premium at the start: errors and complications.

I was directed to this forum as a last chance for my situation.  I'll copy what I wrote before:

First of all: I can't run Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool.

With that of the road, I'll try to explain my situation.  Earlier today, I ran in the hope to get rid of some unnecessary files in disk cleanup. Well, he eventually delete most everything out of my C: drive.  So I ran a restoration of the system to an earlier time.  After the restoration, I tried to connect but received a box saying that my Windows Vista Home Premium product key is not valid.  They gave me three options:

Reduced functionality mode (does not work; see below)

    Enter the product key

Contact HP - do you have this: they wanted $ 100.

Now before to get started by offering suggestions, you need to get more information.

I can't use the reduced functionality mode.  When I click on it, an error with file not found window appears.  The only way I can access my desktop is by going into safe mode, and I can't go in safe mode with network.  So based on this little bump in the road, I was not able to use the tips I found online, because none of those working in safe mode.

Now there is more.  Frustrated, I tried to follow guides anyway.  So I followed the following steps:

    Step #3 game

    (1) open Internet browser

    (2) Type%windir%\system32into the browser address bar.

    (3) find the CMD.exe file

    (4) make a right click on CMD.exe and selectrun as administrator

    (5) type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, click Yes)

    (6) type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing

    (7) type: Rename tokens.dat tokens.bar

    (8) type: cd %windir%\system32

    (9) Typenet start slsvc

    (10) type: cscript slmgr.vbs - FLIR (it may take time for this will be complete, please be patient)

    (11) restart twice

Not only that not solve my problem (since I was in safe mode I was refused permission), but it has created a new problem.  Now when I start my computer normally, IM is more given three options (reduced functionality mode, enter a product key, contact HP).

Instead, when I log on, an error pops up saying: "Insert the Windows CD or installation DVD into your computer to begin the process of resettlement." Now, my computer was shipped with windows and everything installed by the factory with the sticker on the side of the tower.  I have no Dvd or Cd.

I've had this computer for almost 3 years and I can not lose what I have on my computer. I have a genuine copy of Windows.  I have no idea what I'm supposed to do now.

  • Upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium with the Professional Windows 7 upgrade software?

I got a deal to get the Windows 7 Professional Upgrade for $ 100, thought that I get it.  Only now I realize that I had Vista Home Premium on my laptop, and so impossible to move to Windows 7 Pro.  I went out and bought the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade today for another $ 100 to upgrade.

Basically, can I use this software to upgrade Windows 7 Professional upgrade the copy of Windows 7 family upgrade that I just bought. If I can do:

    Windows Vista Edition Home Premium< windows="" 7="" home="" premium="" upgrade="">< windows="" 7="" professional="">

I hope I explained this correctly.  I don't want to really not get stuck with a copy of Windows 7 Pro upgrade software that I can't do anything with.  Any help would be incredibly useful.

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade to Windows 7 Edition Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, follow the on-screen Wizard, enter the key to Windows 7 Professional on demand, click on, and then restart your computer when you are prompted. Less than 10 minutes, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional and your files and settings retained. Andre Da Costa http://adacosta.spaces.live.com http://www.activewin.com

  • I need a download site for windows 7 Home premium 32-bit, I have a product key

Try to upgrade to Windows 7 Home premium Vista SP2. Bought the upgrade of Office Depot, but do not have a cd to load just the product key.

You have purchased an Express upgrade. Windows 7 Anytime Upgrades are only intended to upgrade an existing edition of Windows 7 to a higher edition, example: Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional or ultimate edition.

You must return the product and buy the right type of license:

When important changes to your computer, for example an upgrade, it is always recommended that you back up your system before installing a new version of Windows. In your case, you can upgrade to Windows 7 depending on the edition and the architecture of Windows Vista, you have installed. If you are running a 32-bit version of Vista and upgrade to a 64-bit (Windows 7 edition) version, you'll have a pure make install, it is the opposite case.

If you are using Windows Vista Home Basic or Premium consumer editions, you can only upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate. In addition, you can make downgrades, which means, if you are running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition now, you cannot downgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. You perform logical upgrades:

Windows Vista Home Basic > Windows 7 Home Basic, Premium or Ultimate

Windows Vista Edition Home Premium > Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate

Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Professional, enterprise or ultimate edition

Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Enterprise

Windows Vista Ultimate > Windows 7 Ultimate.

  • What are the disadvantages to download Windows 7 Home Premium from the U.S. instead of the United Kingdom?

    Activation

My PC vendor failed to provide me with a product code, so I can't activate Windows. This forum told me I have to buy another copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. The cost of the software during the purchase of the United States is much less expensive than when purchased in the United Kingdom. Is there any disadvantage when downloading the product of the United States?

It will work very well in the United Kingdom, there are no geographical restrictions on activation outside the United States.

  • Services won't start don't no - Vista Home Premium

I recently lost the connection to my internet connection and on the survey, found that the firewall was not on. I tried to start it, and it seems that some of the services that depend on have been the problem. I googled the problem and have tried the solutions meet online, and after a fortnight of futility, I came here on this forum.
I begin troubleshooting by executing the two queries:

    Queryex mpssvc C:\Users\Client>SC

    Service_Name: mpssvc

    TYPE: 20 WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS

    STATE: 1 STOPPED

I also tried the solution advocated in article KB 943996, but all the permissions are OK.

I have however indicated that the dependent services not starting not are:

Base filtering engine which errors with an error 5: access is denied message.

BFE is dependent on the remote procedure call which, in itself, has begun with all its dependencies.

As a result of this error, I have the network and sharing Center is unable to give me a network name and said only: the dependency service or group could start.

With an automatic launch services that are not watch:

Internet connection sharing (not enabled by me so should be good)

List network, Network Location Awareness Service,

Policy Agent IPSec, Windows Time, IKE and AuthIP IPSec Keying Modules, DHCP Client and Diagnostic Policy Service.

I'm behind a router, so I only use Windows Firewall and have the next race but is no longer able to be updated:

Windows Defender, AVG Free 8, with user account control on.

The only change that I can remember was installing a TurbaCash, an accounting software package of open source software which I have now uninstalled.

What else can I do to fix this? I can't support free Microsupport nor can I afford to pay for it.

Can someone help please? Thank you very much.

    Hello, Sean

You can try to reset the permissions, similar to the article you posted, but this will have an impact on the entire registry permissions.

You can also try to reset the permissions of files by running the Fix It tool at the following link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313222

Let us know if that helps.

    1. Download the SubInACL tool and install it.  By default, it will install in c:\Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools
    2. If you are running Windows Vista, click the start menu, choose all programs, then Accessories, and then right-click on the element named command prompt and choose run as administrator
    3. If you are running one operating system other than Windows Vista, go to the start menu, choose Run, type cmd and click OK
    4. In the cmd prompt, type notepad reset.cmd and click Yes to open Notepad.exe and create a new text file named reset.cmd
    5. Copy and paste the content in reset.cmd:

      CD /d "%programfiles%\Windows Resource Kits\Tools"

      Subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Grant = administrators = f/Grant = system = f/Grant = small = r/Grant = YOURUSERNAME f /setowner = administrators = > %temp%\subinacl_output.txt
      Subinacl /keyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Grant = administrators = f/Grant = system = f/Grant = small = r/Grant = YOURUSERNAME f /setowner = administrators = > %temp%\subinacl_output.txt

    Subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Grant = administrators = f/Grant = system = f/Grant = users = r/Grant = everyone = r/Grant restricted = r /setowner = administrators = > %temp%\subinacl_output.txt
    Subinacl /keyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Grant = administrators = f/Grant = system = f/Grant = users = r/Grant = everyone = r/Grant restricted = r /setowner = administrators = > %temp%\subinacl_output.txt

    Subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Grant = administrators = f/Grant = system = f/Grant = users = r /setowner = administrators > %temp%\subinacl_output.txt
    Subinacl /keyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Grant = administrators = f/Grant = system = f/Grant = users = r /setowner = administrators > %temp%\subinacl_output.txt

    Subinacl /subdirectories %programfiles%\/Grant = administrators = f/Grant = system = f/Grant = users = e > %temp%\subinacl_output.txt
    Subinacl /subdirectories %windir%\/Grant = administrators = f/Grant = system = f/Grant = users = e > %temp%\subinacl_output.txt

  • Change the values named YOURUSERNAME for the Windows user account to which you are connected to.

Note:  YOURUSERNAME value must match the name of your user folder in c:\Documents and Settings (or c:\users on Windows Vista and higher).  You can also find the value to use for YOURUSERNAME by launching the Task Manager and looking at the user name in the user name for the process tab column.

  • Save and close reset.cmd.
  • In the cmd prompt, type reset.cmd and press ENTER to run the SubInACL tool.  This tool will take several minutes to run, and it requires that the user account you are using has administrator privileges on the system.  This is why it is necessary to run from an elevation prompt cmd on Windows Vista.  Step 2 above can be used to start a cmd prompt on Windows Vista.

My Windows Vista computer can not start recently.  The Startup Repair window indicated that the root cause may be due to modifications not specified in the system registry.  How can I solve this problem?  Thanks for the tips.

    Hi Sally,

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

You can perform system recovery option startup repair and check if the problem still persists.

Startup Repair is a Windows Recovery tool that can fix certain system problems that might be preventing Windows to start. Startup Repair scans your computer for the problem and then tries to fix it so that your computer can start correctly.
