• Can't find my windows product key/number!

  Hi all

  Help, please! My computer laptop satellite asks that I enter the Windows key number... He says it should be on a label somewhere on the laptop, but I can't locate! ... any ideas on how else to get the number of key/car I can't the computer at all!

  I'll try to give my comment: If you use recovery media supplied and install the OS (Windows XP Home) on this way you don't need product key. If you are using original Microsoft installations CD given by the laptop product key help at all because this key number belongs to the recovery image.

• Lost audio devices

  Yesterday, I listened to music for a few hours with my headset Bluetooth SBG9100 Philips.

  Today, I received the message that 'no Audio output device is installed ".

  Headphones and speakers appear on 'Her', and the helmet shows devices and printers.  I heard the beep indicating the connection from the headset.

  I tried to reinstall HP and update drivers Broadcom (Bluetooth) and the driver on headphones and speakers.  Both indicate updated and working properly, as do the Bluetooth Module and an enumerator.

  I did a system restore to yesterday morning, but it did not help.  Same audio message.

  MS Media Player says that he can not play because there is a problem with the audio device.

  Any suggestions?

  Could you give me a little more information about your problem?  I guess it has to do with Star Wars: Empire at War.  If so, the error seems to be triggered by the LucasArts digital rights management software.  If I was able to guess your question correctly, I suggest that you contact support for LucasArts to the:

• MP3 player just became crazy... !

  Well, I just went running tonight and the MP3 player is just gone crazy, music started very well, then continues to jump forward and backward, then goes silent, starts again everything above over and over. It became so annoying that I decided to just turn OFF music... you guessed it, he would not turn out, so I ended up cutting my short sleeve only 3 miles, you mind, it's exceptionally hot.

• missing disk-need food support

  I need to reformat my computer (windows xp).  I do not have the computer recovery disc but I from my laptop.  Can I use these discs, or should they be on the computer, I'm trying?

  ·         What is the brand and model of the computer?

  ·         Do you have the recovery on the computer partition?

  You cannot use another computer recovery discs as the material would be different.

  Is there no recovery disk then you can use the recovery partition to restore the computer to factory settings.

  If none is available, you may need to contact the manufacturer of the computer.

• Update Windows Vista crashes with 'check updates'

  Last month, Windows Vista updates began to hang on to the 'check updates'.

  I have: 1. tried all the fixes I could find.
  2 reloaded Vista with SP1 from a recovery partition.
  3 update worked until SP2; SP2 downloaded and installed OK.

  4. then, the update said I need latest update agent (7.6.7600.256). Downloaded and installed OK. At this point, the Windows update fails.
  5. If I uninstall SP2, but let the agent update, it works. When I reinstall SP2, it fails.

  6. I have installed a completely different image of Vista - this one was integrated in SP2. This version fails in the same way.

  7. I ran SFC, CHKDSK, System diags, updated all my drivers updated BIOS and replaced the memory. As far as I can tell this is the only thing that does not work on my PC.

  Thanks for your comments, and happy this worked.  I did have the chance to try this workaround yet - my phase "check for updates..." ran for 4 hours during my may 2016 updated Patch Tuesday before we found 16 available updates - but quite a few users of Win 7 SP1 and SP2 of Vista are now reporting that before installing these updates Windows kernel mode driver (Win32k.sys) each month (for example the KB3145739 in April 2016; KB3153199 in may 2016) reduced their updates for Patch Tuesday to hours to minutes.

  I doubt that this is a permanent solution so be sure to check the page Web of Dalai Search for Windows Updates takes forever?-a possible solution next month to see if a new version of Win32k.sys is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center before your race updates your June 2016 Patch Tuesday.

  Woody Leonhard has published a series of articles on of temporary workaround in his Woody on Windows blog, including Windows 7 update scans still holding? KB 3153199 can solve the problem, so congratulations to Woody, Dalai and others to share this potential solution.

• Windows Update just turns and turns, seemingly without end

  A week previously, Windows Update seems to stop working on my laptop. It seems finished reviewing the updates for my Windows Vista, but just turns and turns and turns.   Today, it is Patch Tuesday of August 2016, so don't forget to check the page Web of Dalai tonight to see if it has revised its list of five Windows kernel mode driver (Win32K.sys) updates which should be pre-installed for faster Windows updates if these five updates are missing from your system.  I can not confirm yet, but preliminary information would indicate that the KB3168965 of the last month has been replaced by KB3177725 (MS16-098: a security update for the Windows Kernel-Mode drivers: 9 August 2016).

• Why Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit installs not Windows updates?

  I am not able to download and install Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit windows update.  This Gateway laptop has always been able to quickly and easily install the update by clicking windows update.  However, since the introduction of Windows 10 it has been a lot of your time trying to install updates.  I had this same problem with Windows 7 too.  Never before there was no problem for the two operating systems.  Installation of Windows updates has always been easy and fast without any problem.  Running the troubleshooting isn't good and hunting error codes has been unproductive.  What the hell is happening?

  'Check for updates...' crashes and slow Windows updates currently affect the SP2 for Vista and Win 7 SP1 users, and I doubt it's a coincidence that Microsoft has ended mainstream support and only provides support for these two operating systems.  The evidence points more to a problem with the Windows Update Agent (WUA Vista, C:\Windows\system32\wuaueng.dll v7.6.7600.256 has not been updated since June 2012) and the problem tends to be more prevalent on computers with slower processors and a limited amount of RAM.

• Updates failed because Norton began a background scan.

  Windows Vista.  18 of 28 updates failed. Norton started a scan that I wasn't aware of everything and that caused the problem.

  So how the hell do I get these updates installed correctly.

  Cannot delete the contents of the "Datastore" folder or "Download" (in Windows/C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution) because windows says it's in use, although only this window was open.

  It started the update of Windows Installer which continued for about two hours doing nothing - I wanted to only install 1 update. I then clicked 'Cancel' and who took 30 extra minutes to cancel indeed.

  Please see post # 159 of the ScousaJAY thread windows update just seems to hang when checking in the VistaForums for a possible workaround.  These Windows updates slow (WUs) are currently affecting both Win 7 and Vista. Woody Leonhard has published a series of articles on this issue in his blog Woody on Windows , including Windows 7 update holding scans always? KB 3153199 can solve the problem.

  As suggested by Woody, many users are now the solution posted on the page Web of Dalai Search for Windows Updates takes forever?-a possible solution pre-install a kernel mode driver Windows missing (Win32k.sys) updates listed on that Web page will speed up Windows Update - at least until Patch Tuesday next month, updates are released and you must first install a new update of Win32k.sys.  The author of this Web page:

  "This HowTo is valid for Win7 SP1 and SP2 for Vista, which have been newly installed or have not been updated for some time. "It should also help on systems that have been updated last month - just install the lack of updates in the list below in this case."

  I disabled updates Windows Automatic (a re-boot should stop any session WU, currently running in the background and consuming CPU) and perform a manual Windows Update a few days after Patch Tuesday updates are displayed on the second Tuesday of every month when I know that I will not need my computer for several hours.  I use Norton Internet Security and normally activate silent Mode (clic click right on the Norton icon in the system tray, choose activate silent Mode and select a long duration as 6 hours) to disable temporarily all tasks automatic Norton LiveUpdates as background and scans fast when WU is running.  Activate silent Mode doesn't disable your protection against malware in real time or Norton Firewall smart and I have no proof that Windows Update works really faster when Silent Mode is on, but I'm not all background tasks unnecessary CPU consumption when I run Windows Update these days.  Do not forget to deactivate the Silent Mode once your Windows Update is complete (I hope) to restart your Norton background tasks again.

• Vulnerability of visibility of the external IP

  I have a WRT1900AC and it is connected to a router to Bell using PPPoE.

  If I go to the external IP address it give me the Linksys login page. My old Lynksys router do not present this information.

  How can I do that, go away?  I don't want anyone to know what type of router I have. Not that I have anything againts Linksys, it's strictly a matter of security. Unless I tell you, nobody can know what type of router, I also have 3/4 of the battle is lost.

  If your new motherboard came as a replacement for Acer warranty, then they need to help you fix the problem of activation.
   
  If you bought the motherboard yourself out of warranty Acer, then, you are responsible for your operating system (OS).
   
  If the operating system is installed on the computer, you may be able to use the key on the back of the computer (25 characters in 5 sets of 5) case to activate the product but you have to use telephone activation.  If this does not work, you will need to purchase a full retail version of an OS that works on your new computer as products OEM are linked to the original motherboard which has been installed by the manufacturer and cannot be changed with a like type motherboard.

  1. in the run box, type devmgmt.msc.

  4. in the Properties window, click the Details tab and select Device Instance of Id or hardware ID from the drop-down.

  I'm having a problem with the readers of network disconnected allowing for new drive usb to their drive letter mappings. I have my laptop dv6500z home with windows 7 Home premium connected to my router wirelessly with a couple of shares of x 64. Now I turned off, trip and start. All right, the drive letters show as disconnected as they should. Now I plug in a USB key and it corresponds to the drive letter of one of the disconnected actions and not a new, unassigned drive letter. In Explorer, there will still be disconnected action description. Click on it and it accesses all my files on the USB key. In admin tools/disk management, the correct label for the USB key is displayed.

  So is it a problem of HP or just a problem of Microsoft with Windows 7?

  Woody, I was able to replicate that XP is not a bug but a feature. On my laptop, it originally had vista on the c drive and a recovery on the d drive partion. There are about 1 1/2 years I have upgraded Vista to XP. Then recently updated to Windows 7. kept the 3 OS's so I got triple starting capability. Then at home, I added 3 network shares, while I was using a lot of drive letters. When actions are undone, Windows maps a USB key which has not been connected before system one of the disconnected but readers still show in Explorer, the name of the drive on the part of disconnected. However, if the USB is connected to the system before, Windows appears to map a drive letter that he remembered from before.

  In my case, Windows 7 has been installed recently, so there is no remebered for my USB drive letter. I was away from home, so I had a lot of disconnected shares. In addition, now that I got a 3rd OS added to the system, I used a lot of letters from the GET go by car. It's much more likely that I would meet this feature after installing Windows 7.
