  Go to tools | Options and uncheck the option to send and receive at startup.  See if that takes care of the problem.  He might try to receive before its ready.  Also check your settings under Tools | Accounts and checking accounts are configured correctly.  You can also try compacting and repairing the database to clear up all the weird questions (see www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/) and look out for interference of program part 3 (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).

However, it is associated with Word (which is installed). I saw in this forum that IE8 was a conflict, so I went back to IE7, but I still can't get Windows Mail to open Word attachments.   I also noticed that the error message: "could not load file or Assembly ' MOM." Implementation ' or one of its dependencies.  The system cannot find the specified file. "It started after restarting the Windows Update as well.  I imagine that the two are related in the same problem to iCloud.
