Work with a Jpeg image

Hello

I am currently working with a jpeg image in illustrator.  I would first like to make the part of the image that is white transparent. When I move the image in the quark of the file that has a gray background in this particular area, I want to show him.  Secondly, I would like to change the color of a part of the image.  The image is a logo and it is difficult to use the tool pen on this image.  Help, please! Thank you

KC

What you describe could be done more easily in Photoshop.  Illustrator is a vector illustration tool, is not really the right tool to edit raster images.  If you use Illustrator because you don't have access to Photoshop, do research on masking.  Masking would probably be the best way to finish what you're wanting to accomplish.

  • How to create a camera profile that works with a JPG image with my color chart to check inside? [was: color Checker chart.] Really need help]

I got a color chart to check. It came not with any software whatsoever. I shoot my images in JPG format. I know it's not really ideal but I'm on a tight budget and don't have the money for a digital SLR cameras that shoot raw. Is there anyway that I can always create a camera profile that works with a JPG image with my color chart to check inside? My table also includes RGB values below each color. Maybe I can match each color in the photo these values manually? If so how is this done?

    Thank you

    Bryce

I've never seen software that does what you ask for JPGs, only RAWs.  The main problem is that any profile or adjustment is calculated according a JPG of a particular chart photo would apply to the other JPG photos with the same white balance.

Jpg does not use "camera profiles" anyway in Lightroom, the profile is always integrated.

There is a product that allows to calculate the HSL cursor offset values given a JPG photo their own table owner who looked like a color checker, but had two lines reversed so the software could not be used with a standard-checker color, unfortunately.  Now their table has twice as many patches (48), and looking at it on their site I'm not too sure that it does not always work with JPGs or if she's just raw files, now.

The graphic and software are called SpyderCheckr of Datacolor.  There are various software that do different things, but none are using a ColorChecker, so having one is mainly a loss until you get a camera that can take raw photos, so keep a humidity and temperature controlled environment as much as possible until you have the right camera.  You can probably use the grey patches to adjust exposure, but that's all.

Today you need not a digital SLR to have raw photos, well.  My phone Galaxy S6 with the last update of Marshmallow and the software of camera update will take photos in format raw DNG in Pro mode which I can create custom profiles camera to use a ColorChecker, although the camera is really good in itself, so when I found everything first he could make DNG I took a little but now, I usually just use the camera to make the jpg unless the shot is really important and the lighting is not too hard.  I think that S7 phone's camera is even better.

What kind of camera do you have?  Sometimes, there are firmware hacks that allow the camera to shoot raw format even if the standard camera cannot.

  • Workflow to remove giant files when you work with 4 k images

I put on the live educational programs periodically, which can operate for about 1 1/2 hours.  I have been those on Panasonic GH4 4K recording and capturing Atomos Shogun on an SSD.

These files can be very wide - from 200-400 + gigabytes, so store raw images impossible quickly, especially since I would like to make copies of backup - and that means 2-4 to hard drives fill up very quickly.

My potential output will be in HD (1920 x 1080) - but I don't invoice using the 4K, because it gives me the opportunity to film a whole scene and then crop the shot / zoom in to individual speakers.  (and it is a production effort one person, where I implemented the advance camera and just let it run)

There is a feature of downres automatically from 4K to 1080 - but I don't want to throw all the data that allows me to make false zooms, pans etc.

Thanks for your suggestions regarding the storage and workflow.

OK... a primer on the size of the files in the image pixel by image measurement:

    HD... 1280 x 720... or simply "720"... is 1280 x 720 pixels or 921 600 pixels per picture, say about 1 million pixels.

"Full HD"... FHD... 1920 x 1080... or... just "1080" is 1920 x 1080 pixels or 2 073 600 pixels per image, for example Yes, about 2 million pixels.

    4 k varies a bit, GH4 uses the 3840 x 2160 flavor mainly... which is 8 294 400 pixels per image, for example about 8.3 million pixels.

The above numbers are for each image. Multiply that by the number of frames per second, which by 60, and you get the amount of data must be recorded per minute of time. You can see that 4 k is a considerable increase in FHD data, not to mention HD. Naturally, which is why it is of great interest, right?

And... 10-bit takes a piece of data-more space to record 8-bit, as you have the values possible in 1063 by image rather than 265.

Now... the codecs do something a 'complete' picture recording all save as many executives and right in-between the pixels that change. A bit of whimsy to the dance, and depending on how it is done in a file resulting of decent quality... or the hash. And of course, another problem is that it can also take a TON of most cycles CPU off encode all of the media to play on your screen.

Jim Simons and I tend to go for Cineform as large intermediate codec... parts return "like butter" through the CPU and Yes, may contain 10-bit color data you need to make the green screen... but... it is not too compressed than others. Which is a good part of the reason for which it reproduces so well.

DNxHD/R works fine too and can be used in the flavors that keep the 10 bits, seem to compress a little more than the Cineform and reading pretty decently.

But the file up to FHD consequence dumping you will never get the 4 k resolution data back.

It's one of those situations where you have to pick your poison. Seriously. Keep the data, or record HD or tape backup space. Well, hard drives become cheaper, you know.

And be happy that you are not working with 6 k-12/bit material!

  • How to deal with the JPEG image data

I have a XML element defined by the user who provides a JPEG image.

Is it possible to directly use this JPEG information in my PDF? (would be great - but seems to want)

or I (seems more likley to me) should first write the JPEG data to a file and then load into my PDF file.

If you can point me to a pretty good example of how to do this, however, it is accomplished, or can explain it in this forum

I should be grateful if you would, and I think that others might be out a lot as well.

    Thank you

    See you soon

For XFA-based PDF files, you can simply read the XFA specification to learn how to integrate the JPEG data in this grammar.  But it's easy enough...

  • Work with sizes of image/copy / paste

I have two jpeg files open in photoshop cs4, one is 72 dpi, zoom 8 inches wide by 6 inches high to 16.67%. The other is about 60 inches wide by 45 inches high, 72 dpi, zoom 100%. I want to take an item (a person) out of the picture 8 x 6 and paste it into the 60 x 45, but when I do it is super small, more small I want. I tried to play with the zoom and the resolution, but it is impossible to get two different image sizes to match the size. Such a thing can be done and if so, how can I do? Thanks in advance

You might want to try Edit - Transform on the person after you paste it on the big picture as a new layer, but keep in mind go with much fewer pixels your person maybe not sharp when oversampled in the context of the larger, higher resolution image.

A good way to get your head on how this works is to ignore the inches and ppi and instead focus on the absolute counts in pixels.  Set your leaders to read in pixels if that helps.  In your example, your little JPEG has only 572 x 432 pixels, while your biggest has 4320 x 3240 pixel.

  • your print in Indesign consultant - work with high quality images

    Hello world

I'm very curious about the idea of what the other professionals on printing and using Indesign to print.

I'm working on a project that, with high resolution model and produces the images together.

Since then, I had move the elements on the layout. Model and product images are in different layers in Indesign.

I used Indesign to combine these images together to create ads for the magazine.

However, I was told that it would be "More SURE" to combine the images together FRIST in photoshop.

He thinks that the process should be:

-Having an image of flated by products and model in photoshop first

    - then bring only one image in Indesign.

-This way he could ensure the color will be good.

    What do you think guys?

The places I've worked in the past, didn't like that makes things.

I want to... *. Colors are not something we couldn't control what magazine uses their own print provider.

What is your process to make sure that the color is just when priting a combination of different high resolution tiff files?

Thank you very much for your time and knowleage.

    Lori

Assuming that you have some sort of color in place management, I would continue to do it the way you are.

But let's say that you do not want to follow the advice of this man. Here's what I think.

Assemble the models and products on a Photoshop 'page' wraps doing the very large PSD file as there can be spaces between the models and products.

Never, never flatten this Photoshop file. It is useless and makes a very complicated workflow if you need to make changes.

You are right about the magazine printing process takes up colors.

You send the magazine? A PDF FILE? It is totally useless to flatten then in Photoshop.

The art is flattened in its own way.

I suppose also that your products and your models are close together

  • What is the best format of proxy to use when you work with S - Log in a linear colourspace?

I worked with a few images from Sony F55 shot against a green screen. I work in a 16 bit s - rbg colourspace

I did out of the source proxies that were photo-jpeg SBDAs, nice fast n.

However, it is fixed the color values in the proxy with what looks like an s-curve that did eventually my overlay significantly different parameters (IE much more contrasted) when switching between the proxy and original.

So, what would be the best way to go on the conversion of some sequences of newspapers-s to a fast proxy format without messing with settings main effects by such an amount of annoying. I can live with a small difference of course.

    Thanks in advance.

Since you are seized, I work with the original film, not proxies and just deal with the problems of time.

You will not get a precise key with a proxy... which is what you need.  Or you COULD work quickly and with no more worries with a proxy and get an incorrect key, but I doubt that is your goal.

  • Problem with 16 its image files

    Hello everyone,

I am currently working with 16-bit images and found vision does not support 16-bit images and I converts images in 64RGB. I converted the 64RGB images, but as my computer screen is 8 bits so I don't see a black picture no picture inside. I am currently working with 16-bit images. Is there a way that can allow me to work on 16-bit images, or only support 8-bit vision. Thank you

    Kind regards

    Lazer

    Hi Lazer,

Thank you for posting. Please take a look at the following example, which stood on the community of NOR, which treats the display to 16 bit images on a screen of 8 bits.

AFAIK, Lightbox of Lokesh Dhakar scripts only work with images of the web (GIF, JPG, PNG).

Or it is possible that the image is 16-bit/channel.

In photoshop elements go to Image > Mode and click on 8-bit/channel and see if that makes a difference.
