WPA2 with C4780

The C4780 can work with a WPA2 network?

If not, is it likely to be a driver of WPA2 for the C4780?

Thanks for any help!

Yes, the C4780 supports WPA2-PSK encryption with both TKIP and AES algorithms.  Default setting for the printer should automatically select the correct encryption (WPA - PSK or WPA2-PSK) and to select automatically the correct algorithm (TKIP or AES) then you will not be asked these questions during the installation.

  • Using WPA2 with BEFW11S4 v.2

I use a router BEFW11S4 v.2 with a WEP password, I read recently that by using a WEP slows down the maximum transfer rate and that I should use a WPA2. I looked everywhere in my set up and do not see how to change this.  I've seen in a post, go to the wireless tab and use the security subtab, I have it all under the wireless tab's SubTabs.

    Thank you

Your router supports only WEP. You can see the WEP option in the Configuration tab.

  • How Set up and Adhoc Wireles connection encrypted with C4780?

Hi, I just bought a new HP Photosmart C4780. I set up ad-hoc wireless C4780 with my laptop, it works perfectly. But C4780 SSID, hpsetup, is not encrypted (protected by password). I don't think that this kind of connection is safe enough, I want to establish a wireless connection between my laptop and my C4780, protected by password. Can all the tutorials I found were on the way to put in place an encrypted connection between a router and C4780 wireless (I don't have a wireless router). In any case, thanks for your help.

The only encryption available is WEP, which is not safe at all, in any case (freeware from the internet may break in 10 minutes).

If you really want to fix it, print a network configuration of the front of the printer Page while the ad - hoc is connected.  There, you will find the IP address of the printer.

Type this IP address in a browser to search the pages of internal settings of the printer.  Go to (left), wireless tab and Advanced tab of networking.

There, you'll be able set a WEP password (to the bottom of the screen).

The problem occurs when you perform a Wizard for easy transfer to a computer that was Symantec Endpoint Protection installed to one without him.

    Answer, copypasted:

Inspect the key mentioned above - that is of HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\services\RasMan\PPP\EAP.

In each of the number keys look something like ConfigPathBackup and its corresponding ConfigPath - there are a number of them.

For each, I deleted the original key (e.g., ConfigPath) and restored the original by renaming ConfigPathBackup to ConfigPath

For each of them, the State is now restored to her pre State Symantec - each key pointed to a Symantec location that is no longer present and by restoring the path key backs up everything was fine

  • Problem with c4780

Hi, I have a photosmart c4780.  I put it up wireless via a router.  It works very well with the office, but I recently got a laptop and I need to be able to print from the laptop as well.

Since installing the printer on my laptop, I have a problem printing.  It does give me an option of 8.5 x 11 paper size.  It is located at 4 x 6 and when I go into properties, yet, there is the size of the paper as a print option.  I tried to manually reset the margins to see if it works, but they do not stay.  What should I do to fix this?

    Thank you!

What operating system?  Load you the HP software for your printer?  Where do you have it?

  • Where's MAC address for Photosmart C4780?

    Hi people,

I'm implementing this Photosmart C4780 with my wireless network that uses MAC security screening. Can someone tell me where to find the MAC address of my machine? It must be 8 digits with numbers and letters, possibly separated by a colon.

    Thank you!

Well, to answer your question, it can be found on a network configuration Page or test wireless network, as well in the configuration > area of the network control panel.

Now, please recognize that MAC filtering is NOT a security measure and can cause problems with the installation of the printer.

    Read more about it here.

I would recommend filtering MAC do not hide the SSID and simply apply WPA or WPA2 with a password strong.  You will be safer than you are now with much less hassle.

  • Powersave C4780 wireless?

I have a new c4780 and Mac and PC on the same wireless network.

When I try and print, or OS can find the printer - as if the wireless to the printer has timed out or something? Maybe a powersave? It is used about once a day.

This is easily solved by simply turning the printer market once again, but it's a little frustrating.

    Someone knows what's the problem?

    Thank you

OK, a couple of things come to mind.

First of all, WEP isn't sure.  It can be broken by freeware in 10 minutes approximately.  Change it to WPA or WPA2 with a password strong character 13 +.

Secondly, I understand that the printer has an IP address, we will define an (not variable) IP address for it.

-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). If you know what it is, set an IP address outside this range but not exceeding 254 (the last number of the address). If you don't know it, enter the current IP address.
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Let the gateway and DNS white. Click on ' apply

Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.

    This problem discribed in http://wiki.freeradius.org/index.php/FAQ#PEAP_Doesn.27t_Work
Perhaps to solve this problem we need a fix (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885453/en-us), but microsoft support said to contact the laptop manufacturer.
Can someone help me with this problem?

Hmmm I m not an expert in this area, but it seems that the MS OS update is necessary. (I hope)
The preinstalled Windows operating system is a simple OEM version and generally all updates should be possible. However, if MS guys told you to communicate with the manufacture of the laptop, you can contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba in your country for details.

But I studied a bit on the net and found this site useful:

    1. 802. 1 X is based on communication between your router and a RADIUS authentication server. If you use WEP, WPA or WPA2 with dynamic keys, 802. 1 X debugging following tips may be useful:
    a. reintroduce the same RADIUS secret in your wireless router and the RADIUS server.
    b. configure your RADIUS server to accept the request of the RADIUS of the IP address of your router.
    c. use ping to check the accessibility of router-server.
    d. package watch LAN account to verify that RADIUS and answers queries are fluid.
    e. use an Analyzer like Ethereal Ethernet to watch RADIUS success/failure messages.
    f. for XP SP2, turn on Wzctrace.log by typing "command netsh ras set followed * activated.

2 if RADIUS is flowing but are rejected requests for access, you may have a problem of incompatibility or credential X Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) 802.1. This setting depends on Type EAP. For example, if your RADIUS server requires EAP - TLS, then select 'Card chip or other certificate' of your adapter wireless network properties / authentication Panel. If your RADIUS server requires PEAP, then select "Protected EAP" of the adapter. If your RADIUS server requires EAP-TTLS, then you will need a third-party wireless like AEGIS or in Odyssey client.
Make sure that this specific EAP properties match for your adapter and the server, including the server CA certificate root trust Server domain name (optional but must match when it is specified) and the customer (EAP-MSCHAPv2, EAP - GTC) authentication method. When you use PEAP, use the control panel to 'Configure' CHAP to prevent Windows from automatically re-use of your connection.

  • Windows 7 Professional is not compatible with the WPS ENABLED?

    Hi all:
I have a desktop (HP Pro 3500 Series) with Windows 7 Professional and another laptop (HP COMPAQ CQ58) with Windows 8, 1 pro.
My internet provider is Jasstel, and it worked perfectly in my two computers.
I decided to activate the WPS of the router (comtred AR 5387un) and they started the problems. The laptop with Windows 8, 1 runs normally.
The desktop with Windows 7 without work and it does not allow the connection to the Internet. The generated error is security configuration, it is incorrect.
I erased the net so that I have again the password. You ask that I introduce the safety key from the net. I introduce the key (which she's right, because it works in another computer), and he told me that I should he Nail or the sentence of the password is not right and there is not the case.
The only thing you change is the operating system. Windows 7 is not compatible with active WPS?

    Hello colambrero,

This model is a class computer business and would be better asked in the forum of the Business Enterprise community.

Here is the link to the appropriate section. http://h30499.www3.HP.com/T5/business-PCs-Compaq-Elite-Pro/BD-p/BSC-271

    I offer you my thoughts.

I was wondering why you have decided to activate the WPS? It's easier to connect wifi devices but also creates security problems.  WPA2 with a good password is more reliable in my opinion.

In addition, your Wifi adapter must be compatible WPS and I can't confirm if your model has one or not (I assume it does).

Windows 7 that has Service Pack 1 installed? SP1 has a fix for problems with connections WPS for Windows 7.

Personally, I would consider not not using WPS for security issues.

Here is an article to example of Sophos Security explaining why not to use WPS.

  • What 802.11n card internal work with a Compaq CQ60-212US?

I hope to upgrade the laptop above to 802.11n, but I'm unable to find information on what the internal cards will work for her. It's an AMD Athlon X 2 sytem wiyh a Nvidia nforce chipset running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. The card he uses currently (802. 11 b / G) is a card Atheros 5007 based (part #459339-003). Base HP/Compaq made an Atheros 802.11n 5009 (manufacturer 482260-001) card which I believe may work, but my model is not listed in the compatibility list and I know that HP/Compaq are one of the companies that uses a 'white list' in the BIOS to prevent unauthorized devices to use.  I tried to ask by e-mail and they would not check the number and directed me to call their purchases as part Surfer do not have the list. I called and they said, there is one that would work but it is out of stock and they have no ETA on this subject and of course would not check the number. Any info on 802.11n cards that would work in this laptop that I would like to upgrade to high speed and that the ethernet connection is part of the chipset (even though Device Manager it ID as a 10/100/1000 is only 10/100 ) it is the only road I have so any information would be appreciated.

-After much research and hitting my head against the wall, I finally got my laptop upgraded using a HP 482260-001 internal NIC (a card Atheros 5009) based manufacturer and now have an 300Mbps connection solid of rock all the time. I know I've read a lot of the problems with this card so I thought I'd post a brief overview of what I had to do.

First - before Exchange you cards (unless you can connect to a wired LAN cable outlet) download the latest driver from HP for the Atheros card - even if this computer only provided with the card (5007 based) G the downloaded driver supports card 5009 N. depends on how do you the next step, you can save the file on a USB Flash drive.

Following installation the new card and either do a system restore to the point where the updates of Microsoft are deleted (it will mess up wireless connections - this too is a XP updates)-well mine did not for the next option was to do a full system restore to put the laptop to a 'new' State but mine has NEVER worked since the restore disks , I did or since the restore partition, so that leaves one last (option in addition to the PURCHASE of a set of disks to restore HP that they tried to sell me or uninstallation of 56 upgrades ONE BY ONE). If you know someone who has a Vista installation disc to borrow it and use the option UPGRADE to install the same version that you use the SAME key from the bottom of your laptop - this route 'upgrade' will restore your system with the original copy of Vista without losing any of your installed programs where are you got your restore to work , you would be at square one - you be the judge. Before anyone questions the legality of my last method here is the real deal - when you buy copy of Windows or a computer, you are not 'buy' Windows software - you pay for the license (as the key) to use a copy (unless you buy a copy of multi license) on a computer if Windows or use the method as long as you use YOUR key to install the SAME version of Windows is no legal - my installation activated with absolutely no problem and shows it as authentic.

OK - now if you need to re - install the driver updated for the Atheros card and at that time you should be able to connect to your wireless network. In my case, it would only connect at 54Mbps, and it turns out he was addicted to router and nothing to do Wicker card or driver. I had read that Vista doesn't like WEP so I stop ALL security/encryption on the router and NIC (not a good idea in general, but just to test) and the connection turned up to 300Mbps (no, not the max of 270Mbps reported some have reported with this card). I tried to change security settings and he kept falling back to 54 Mbps and then I spotted this in the sidebar of my router (Netgear WNR3500) aid:

"To achieve maximum wireless performance, as WN511B must connect to this router with the help of WPA2(with AES). «For the clients that connect to WPA - PSK (with TKIP), maximum speed wireless will be 802.11 g.»

So I put the router for the listed specifications before and my Atheros card stuck to the solid 300Mbps. This last part watch is obviously a problem of router/nic as before when I was running mobile WEP another computer security (brand begins with G ;-)) was ongoing execution using a card Linksys under XP (a plug in one on the side) to 270Mbps but now under new security my Compaq runs on 300Mbps, my 'G' works to 270Mbps and my cable network is running at 1000Mbps, and everybody is happy!)

The next step is to reinstall the updates of Windows one or 2 at a time until those that trashes the connection lies - uninstall and it block. When I get to this point I'll post the update # (unless someone beats me to it). It's a very summarized race to the bottom, so if you have any questions please message but I wanted people to know it's possible!

  • Problems with HP Photosmart C309g wireless and wired

    Hello

I fought with my C309g since I bought it a few months before.  It works on and outside, but can not hold a consistent network connection.  I have wired it usually but have tried both wireless.  It is plugged directly into my Netgear router.

Before it works for a short period of time and the other Offline Online & on its own.  Sometimes it recognizes the other computers on the network to print & analyses.  I have 3 PCs on the network - two cables & a wireless.  It will recognize the three rarely, two of them sometimes, one of them sometimes (usually the laptop wireless) and none of these most of the time.

There each time than in quite awhile for the first month and now it does not appear at all on the network - wired or wireless.  I can't print and more.  The documents simply to sit in Quebec for a while and then produce an error.

Any help appreciated.  This printer is a wholemeal bread.

    Thank you

    Gringeiro

    Hi Gringeiro,

You use the wireless WEP or WPA security on your router?  I would recommend WPA2 with AES, well, if you want to connect wireless.  It will also, if you set a static IP address on the printer.  You can do this by typing the IP address of the printer in the address bar of your browser.  Select the network tab, and then look for IPV4 under the section of wired or wireless, depending on how you have connected it.  There should be an option to "suggest manual IP".  If this isn't the case, type IPCONFIG from the command prompt (start/run cmd) to get your addresses in the subnet and the gateway.

  • WGA600N default for WPA/WPA2 TKIP/AES despite settings saved after reboot

Strange comment here: when I select in the web the WGA600N utility: WPA/WPA2 TKIP/AES after restart only WPA2 and AES only, always default.  I saw it twice.

Anyone has an idea why it is doing this? My D-Link 825 security is set to WPA2 with AES encryption only algorithm.

I read that the maximum speed is obtained by forcing these settings and I tried to get the router and bridge to match.

As I pointed out in the "New Firmware" thread, the problem is solved with the release of 1.05.

  • Unable to connect with security WRT160N

I saw another old post on this subject, but it is not a resolution.

I have used this router wireless g (with WEP security) for months now, I'm switching to n.

I can connect mode n without any security enabled.

With any type of security enabled, I am unable to connect.

I've upgraded to the latest firmware.

I do not know how to enter a WEP key

    Please help if you can.

    Thank you

Use really secure settings, i.e. personal WPA2 with AES encryption and a password strong. WEP is badly damaged.

I have the Linksys WRT160NL router and I have two fundamental problems with that:

    1. I have a laptop HP with n on its wireless card connection. (it's an HP probook 4720 s). So I know that this laptop has ability. n I have the most recent driver vor he 3.1.18. The thing is that my Linksys router does not transmit sound wireless n, just g...

What should I do to make it work with n as well?

    2. the second issue is that the USB connection is working in a very strange way. I have attached an ADATA with USB 3.0 HDD external, even. He works in 2.0.

I have a lot of WAV files on it and when I stream to my receiver files pay with much intrerupptions, break ups. MP3 work very well.

I don't know what to do to solve this 2 problems... Maybe someone could help me...

    Thank you

Try changing some settings on the router wireless.

Connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable. Open the router configuration page. Go to the wireless tab and the manual value configuration view. Change the channel to 11 wireless. Make sure that the network is set to mixed. Save the settings.

Go to wireless security sub tab and change the wireless WPA2 with AES security mode. Save the settings.

Click the tab under advanced wireless settings change the tag to 75 interval, RTS threshold and fragmentation to 2304. Save the settings. Now try to connect to the network again.
