Write to the Cluster size in binary files

I have a group of data, I am writing to you in a file (all different types of numeric values) and some paintings of U8. I write the cluster to the binary file with a size of array prepend, set to false. However, it seems that there are a few additional data included (probably so LabVIEW can unflatten on a cluster). I have proven by dissociation each item and type casting of each, then get the lengths of chain for individual items and summing all. The result is the correct number of bytes. But, if I flattened the cluster for string and get this length, it is largest of 48 bytes and corresponds to the size of the file. Am I correct assuming that LabVIEW is the addition of the additional metadata for unflattening the binary file on a cluster and is it possible to get LabVIEW to not do that?

Really, I would rather not have to write all the elements of the cluster of 30 individually. Another application is reading this and he expects the data without any extra bytes.

At this neglected in context-sensitive help:

Tables and chains in types of hierarchical data such as clusters always include information on the size.

Well, it's a pain.

  • Size of binary files and csv

    Hi all

    I want to save my data in CSV and binary (.) (DAT). The VI adds 100 new double data in these files every 100 ms.

    The VI works fine but I noticed that the binary file is bigger than the CSV file.

    For example, after a few minutes, the size of the CSV file is 3.3 KB, while the size of the binary file is 4 KB.

    But... If the binary files should not be smaller than the text files?

    Thank you all

    You have several options.

    The first (and easiest) is to you worry not. If you use DBL and then decide the next month you want six-digit resolution, so he's here. If you use STR and decide next month, well, you're out of luck. Storage is cheap, maybe that works for you, maybe it's not.

    Comment on adding it at the beginning of the header is correct, but it's a small overhead.  Who is the addition of 4 bytes for each segment of 100 * 8 = 800, or 0.5 percent.

    If you don't like that, then avoid adding it at the beginning. Simply declare it as a DBL file, with no header and make.

    You are storing nothing but slna inside.

    This means YOU need to know how much is in the file (SizeOf (file) / SizeOf (DBL)), but it's doable.

    You must open the file during writing, or seek open + end + write + firm for each piece.

    If you want to save space, consider using it instead of DBL SGL. If measured data, it is not accurate beyond 6 decimal digits in any case.

    Or think to save it as I16s, to which you apply a scale factor during playback.

    Those who are only if you seriously need to save space, if.

    Could someone post a way they found?

    It is formatted in printf. To get the block size, do:

  • Question in the reading of a binary file, with data "flatten to a string.

    I am facing problem while playing a binary file (created using LabVIEW).

    I've mentioned (question and method to reproduce) within the attached VI.

    Even vi is fixed in versions 2012 and 8.0.

    Concerning

    Reading a string from a binary file stops at a NULL (0x00) character.  When the first character is 0 x 00, you just read the of a character.  Since you are doing the reverse, I'd written into a byte array.  And then you can read as a byte array.

  • Help with the cluster in table for the cluster size difference, please!

    I will admit to still hurt with the berries of LabVIEW, and as usual, the behavior in the vi attached is meaningless to me!  The attached vi shows a cluster 6 element being converted into a table, then immediately to a cluster.  The reconstructed cluster has 9 elements, even if the table size indicator display properly 6.  How to maintain the initial cluster size when converting to and then since then, a table?

    Well, if you have worked with context-sensitive help running you would see:

    "With the right button of the function and select the Size of Cluster in the context menu to set the number of items in the cluster."

    The default is new. The maximum cluster size for this function is 256. »

    You must set the size. There is no way for the function to know how many elements in the table.

  • Change the Cluster size in drive with VM-converter

    All the morning

    We'll probably replace our storage environment with that provided by a new provider.

    Our current provider has a recommended 4 k Cluster size. So all our VMDK is configured with a cluster of 4K, size happy days.

    However, the new seller we recommend 8 k.

    So I thought v2v ING our server domain to the new platform, change the size of the block in the Advanced tab of VM-converter in the process, which gives us the system formatted with 8 K blocks.

    There is however a Requirement MS that the system drive is 4 k (otherwise it wont power on). Its this little pesky 100 MB partition...

    Now comes the rub;

    The 100 MB system partition, part of the first drive (C:\). If I P2V the first drive with a cluster of 8 k size I of course get a non bootable server.

    When in fact I want actually to v2v 1 drive (C:\). As 8 KB, but leave the small single 100 MB system partition with the default of 4 k, however because they are part of the same disc, and converter seems to work at a disk level and not the level of the Partition, converter just wants to make all that is a problem.

    Any ideas on how to accomplish the foregoing.

    See you soon

    Hi there mate

    Sorry for the delay, we are testing at the mo and I could not devote much time to this.

    Any ways I cracked it, I was testing on a 2 k 3 box where something like minitool would be necessary to finish the change of cluster size in the C:\ for the reasons given.

    But when v2v - ing (with VM converter) a k box 8 or 2012 2 the system partition is presented to the converter as an independent drive and can therefore remain @ 4 k while the C:\ D:\ etc. can be adjusted as required using the advanced settings.

    So in the end, you have a system with drives using the required cluster size and a system bootable...

    just for future reference should it be useful to anybody.

  • What is the maximum size of a file attachment in siebel

    Hello

    I am trying to attach a file of 7Mo in one of the contacts, but its not taking.
    I have a lot of research but did not get what should be the limit of file maximul for the attachment.

    It there any parameter is responsible for this? where we can limit the size of the attachment.

    Concerning

    Hello

    You can see the actual limit and also change it using Siebel tools. In your case, when you talk about Contacts, the desired BC is "Attachment of Contact".

    -> Open Siebel Tools-> business-> 'Attachment Contact'-> field component-> 'ContactFileSize'-> property check 'Validation '.

    "for example if Validation is.<= 5000000"="" it="" means="" that="" file="" can="" have="" a="" maximum="" size="" of="" 5="">

    Adapt to your needs.

  • Use CF to write to the blob field and convert files

    I am trying to use cold fusion to extract a .doc to a database file, and then save it as a .pdf file. It will work to read character by character and then save it under a new name. Will this work and what is a good routine for her?

    You ask how do I retrieve a blob to a database field and save it in a file - or - how to convert a document to pdf format. If it is the latter, which really has nothing to do with ColdFusion.  There is no built-in feature in CF8 for convert .doc to .pdf format.  Therefore, you will need to use an external tool to do the conversion.  (If possible in CF9 using OpenOffice).

  • Can you attribute programmatically size when you use the table in the Cluster service cluster

    I use the table of the Cluster service.  The only way I know to the size of the cluster is to right click on the function and set the Cluster size.  But what happens if the length of my table changes?  Is there a way to make the cluster size is the number of elements in the table?  Seems like labview should do this automatically at run time.  There may be some nodes of property I don't know.

    I tried the SQL statements, but it always boils down to having to know the number of columns is in the database prior to execution.

    What I did to generate the object to be a cluster to match database fields.  My recordset is an array of objects.  Then I a vi member to build a recordset from the database and another Member vi to retrieve an array of clusters of the recordset object.  If the database changes, I have to change the subject and these two vi.  All the other Subvi call these two for the manipulation of data.  No other sub - VI have bundle and ungroup functions in them, only the vi of two members.  Thus a change in the database requires a change of control and two vi.  Not too bad.

  • Initialize the cluster with data types different (lots of data)

    Hello

    I have data, which are composed of different data types. First of all, I have initialize cluster with these types of data and then "print" to light (photo). In case of photo data carries 8 characters than ja 4 floats. It was easy to initialize, but here's the question: How can I do this even if I have data that look like this (interpreter):

    floating point number

    name char [32]

    Short value [16]

    What I create loooong cluster which have a fleet of 32 characters, 16 short films? Or I can create these 'paintings' in a different way?

    THX once again

    -Aa-

    I suggest using the table-cluster and configuration of the cluster size to match the size of your berries, then package these groups together.  In terms of storage of LabVIEW, there is no difference between a group of

    floating point number

    Name1 tank

    name2 tank

    ...

    short value1

    short value2

    ...

    and a bunch of

    floating point number

    -> cluster shipped from

    Name1 tank

    name2 tank

    ...

    -> cluster shipped from

    short value1

    short value2

    So you can use the cluster table to get the right sizes rather than individually create all these values in a single giant cluster.

  • Digital / use of the Index of Varchar BINARY not

    Hello

    We had recently on our system a table with an index of Varchar2, who was not used and causing the queries to do a full table scan.

    The user used for querying is the user used by the ETL, and in order to avoid the distinction of uppercase / lowercase, this user has a trigger to change the Dutch NLS settings.

    User settings are:
    NLS_LANGUAGE = DUTCH
    NLS_SORT = DUTCH_CI
    NLS_COMP = ANSI

    As far as I know, when NLS_COMP is set to ANSI, it uses the NLS_SORT setting.
    That is why in this case, we use not BINARY.

    I also know that do not use the BINARY is supposed to so that the user not to use indexes, they are created by default in BINARY format.

    However, until today almost all our used queries index properly.
    Which is a bit suspicious, that we did not use the BINARY parameters.

    It's why I did some checking, and what I concluded was the following:
    * When you have a numeric index (Number type), the index is used, even when the user uses no BINARY file
    * When the index is a character (type varchar2), the index is not used when the user is not BINARY, however it will be used when parameters NLS_SORT = BINARY.

    I couldn't find anywhere on the internet a explanation on the difference between a number and the type Varchar index and whether they should act differently with the BINARY sort.

    Please could someone explain this behavior, it would be an interesting lesson for me.

    Kind regards

    Yaron

    NLS_COMP and NLS_SORT are only relevant for character data, it is related to the internal digital representation of characters. Binary number compared with the linguistic characteristics do not, they are always sorted pure 'mathematically '.
