WRT 120N sharing Internet

Hello. I hope someone can help me with minor problems.

1. my laptop and desktop PC connect to my router WRT120N with no problems - the signal is excellent. However, whenever I connect to internet, I always my ISP via my dial-up router. (I used to have a different router model linksys - who got zapped after 8 months of use - automatically connected to the router and the Internet, when I turn on my PC). I want to have is a framework which will allow my PC will automatically connect to my ISP without going me through the remote access process. Help, please... I've already put my set - up router for 'Keep Alive', the recall period every 30 seconds. I always still click the icon of the dial upwards to connect to internet.

2. I can connect only 1 PC to the internet at the same time. I'm sure this has to do with my first problem above. When the first PC is connected to internet, the 2nd PC is more access to the internet (dial-up, even if I have a router which should maintain the connection to the internet every time since it has been set to "Keep Alive."). How can I solve this problem... I also put some DHCP and MAC ID for these two PC because they can connect to the internet if I use them separately, in different occasions, not at the same time. How can I configure my PC to be able to connect to my ISP via my router at the same time?

Hope someone can share a solution. Thank you.

Chris

If you use dial-up connection with the username and password on the computer to validate the connection, and then remove the computer. Now, instead of the computer, make the PPPoE settings on the router with the right user name and password and save settings... Cycle power to the router and check. You can check this link for the PPPoE settings on the router.

  • WRT 120n problems of mac address cloning

    Hello everyone .

After that I bought my linksys wrt 120n some time ago, I had problems with my pc mac address cloning. I wasn't able to do. The cloning option tab become gray and could not be selected. Prior to that, everything worked fine for a month or two. I wouldn't change anything.

Reset for 5 seconds does not solve the problem, unplug and plug back or bring back the default values does not work either.

I'm updating to the latest firmware due to other problems of people with 1.0.0.4 version (mine is default 1.0.01) and power Cycle has not helped.

I decided to contact linksys chat based help and I got solutiion of the consultant that solved the problem. I thought that I put it here in case someone else got the same problems...

Solution below in the next post.

    Solution:

    1 make sure that the computer is connected to the router with cable (cable connectivity.---> cable modem RJ45---> > port the router Internet---> > port Ethernet 1 of the router to the computer; the connection will be the same only);

    2. power should be on;

    3 reset the unit: -.
-Press and hold the button of reset for 50 seconds.

    - Then disconnect the Dungeon can now hold the reset for 30 seconds.

-Plug back in the power and keep the button of reset for 30 seconds.

    -Release the reset button. ;

I'll just add that I used only the wired connections don't wan, on windows xp. I also noticed that the base of the router configuration browser has problems sometimes under some browsers other than IE...

Hope I helped someone. See you soon.

  • Sharing internet from PC to netbook with Bluetooth

Hey. I live in university halls and my desktop PC is connected into the wall (without router or whatever it is) by ethernet.

Both my PC and netbook have Windows 7 Professional.

Currently the only way to disconnect the ethernet cable from my PC to connect my netbook to the internet and put it in the netbook, so I thought I'd see if I can share internet with my netbook by Bluetooth.

I can't find simple instructions to do that, so I did some guessing work.

    # They're two added as a Bluetooth device to another. I entered the access code and follow the instructions.

    # I have set up a personal connection to area (PAN). I don't go to Bluetooth (on PC or netbook) devices, select the device and then connect using > direct connection.

    # It says it is connected, and then tries to establish a connection, in which it fails.

It's that I have. Can someone help me?

    Hi ChrisLoz,

That you get with a specific error code error messages when the connection has failed?

If you want to share internet from the PC to the netbook, you must have a router.

If you want to share an Internet connection between multiple computers, you have two options:

    * Use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS).
    * Use a router.

    Reference:

In addition, if you use a bluetooth PAN (personal area network) device to connect, you can share files or play games.

  • How to optimize the WRT 400n for Internet TV

I've been using a WRT 400n for awhile with 2 pc... a tower near him and a computer laptop about 50 ft, in another room. As much, I would say I am only using the 2.4 GHz to channel 11 band.

We have just added a Sony Bravia HD TV and a Sony Blu - ray player VD (which is really, as far as I can see, a cool internet access device which can read the DVD). Favorite use is to watch TV shows and movies from Amazon. Problem is, the streaming is very uneven and sometimes what Amazon calls 'connection speed' (which I think is really the network bandwidth) gets so low that the buffering will fail and lose us everything we see.

So, my question is, how to optimize?

    1. Can I configure the WRT 400n somehow so that the TV / DVD device combination uses 5.0 GHz and this could help. If this is the best option, where can I find detailed advice?
    2. Y at - it than available th firmware update might help?
    3. Could I consider an access point or a Repeater?
    4. Should I go for a router upgraded?
    5. Displacement of the top would REALLY help? I am very reluctant to do this - it is a major concern, but if it's the only option...

As you can tell, I am naïve in these things and would really appreciate wise counsel!

    Thank you.

    1. the recommendation mentions of connection speeds, for example 10 Mbps. This has nothing to with the frequency band use for a Wi - Fi connection.

    2. the specifications for the BDP-S780 says: ' Wi - Fi built in: 802.11 b/g/n. It does not support the band 5 GHz. 5 GHz band is not an option.

3 once again: the best solution is to ethernet wiring.

  • Sharing Internet connection and Application Layer Gateway Service

I'm trying to connect my laptop to my XBOX 360 by sharing connection Internet (ICS). But when I try to go to the property of my wireless network connection to enable ICS, I get an error message that says: "an error occurred while Internet connection sharing was being enabled." So, I searched online for this problem and everyone says that a service required by ICS does not work. http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;827328&product=winxp

    These services are:

    Application Layer Gateway Service
    Network connections
Knowledge of the network (NLA) locations
    Plug-And-Play
    Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
    Remote Access Connection Manager
    Remote procedure call (RPC)
    Telephony

I put each of them starts, and I manually activated them as well. However, the Application Layer Gateway Service turns off as soon as I turn it on. What is the problem? Do I have to change the setting of "connect as"?

  • Sharing Internet on a laptop Wireless Windows 7 to Windows XP Desktop

Im trying to get my windows xp desktop computer to connect to my computer windows 7 which is on a wireless laptop with internet via. someone know how I can get my Windows 7 to share my internet for XP
I already have a wireless network with success and a network between 2 computers via ethernet connection

If I understand your question, the Windows 7 laptop connects to the Internet via a wireless network, and you want to share the Internet connection with the XP desktop computer.  Here's how to enable Internet connection sharing on the laptop:

    1. Press the Windows key + R .
    2. Type ncpa.cpl in the box and press enter .
    3. Right click on the wireless network connection.
    4. Click on Properties .
    5. Click sharing .
    6. Put a checkmark in the Internet connection sharing box.
    7. If it asks you to select a private network connection, select the connection to the Local network.

Then connect the computers using a wired Ethernet connection.

  • Computer sharing internet with mobile phones on the ad - hoc network

Original title: ad hoc internet sharing network

I have only 1 computer at home and 2 mobile phones. My wireless router doesn't work so I can't get access to the internet through a wired connection to my laptop. I wanted to share the internet access from my laptop to 2 mobile devices, but I do not know how to do it. I tried to create an ad hoc network by following instructional videos online, but they do not seem to work for me. I have a laptop Samsung Windows 7 Professional. Any thoughts?

    Hello Mann,

The manual configuration of ad hoc steps network has really worked for me. I don't really know how much I missed. For my curiosity, I tried to open the link provided by Ramesh above and found some interesting things. I downloaded a software called the virtual router on the site - http://virtualrouter.codeplex.com/. In fact, it has worked for me and made my life so much easier. I just have a good concern, is this completely harmless software for my computer? I have not any refusal of Microsoft Security Essentials of any kind in any case. :)

    Please notify.

    Thanks for your help!

  • Sharing internet connection with VPN in Windows 8

Previously with Windows 7, I put my VPN to share its connection to the Ethernet port on my laptop. So whenever it connects to the internet, my Xbox would take the connection too via Ethernet connected by VPN. But now after the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro, I did the same thing, but the Xbox, or any other device that connects to my Ethernet port does not receive any internet connection, even if they do not recognize that they are connected to a network, but not to the internet. I also noticed that I can not customize the settings of network similar to that of Windows 7 where you can choose between home and professional Public and also to manage network access points where you can merge or delete network locations.

    @BedheadHusky

OOOha, the process too big, I struggled very and solve the problem with the following solution:
Just open space and restart services 'Internet connection sharing (ICS)"AFTER establishing VPN connection
or run the commands as administrator after HAVING establish VPN connection
    stop SC SharedAccess
    SC start SharedAccess
    It works for me.

It seemed began as soon as the automatic update from Microsoft on Qualcomm, Atheros, every time when connect to any WIFi, share internet, my portege R830 shows blue screen and the following error message:
    unhandled system_thread_exception (athwb.sys)

I found that I am not the isolated on the Web site. I tried to remove and stop updates. However, once I connect to the internet, the blue screen comes back.

Is the problem because of the network adapter? The model is Qualcomm Atheros AR9002WB
Can solve the problem if I download the new driver of Qualcomm-Atheros site? Or if I replace a new adapter?

The athwb.sys file belongs to the Atheros wireless driver. Usually placed in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\athwb.sys
It seems that in your case this file causing the BSOD.

I found a very interesting detail about this problem and why it seems.

On the different modems & routers lights quickly and constantly when the receiving and sending data, it is perhaps the reason for the State and blinking wlan. It shows the frequency of traffic between the internet and the computer that is provided by the tcp protocol.

So, this is a normal state of light...
