WRT160N V2 to the Modem connection cable

I just installed a WRT160N v2 via the installation disc accompanying and everything came and worked fine for 3 days. After that, the response time seems to slow down, and later, my access has become more limited. I could access some websites but not others, and sometimes I could not access the internet at all, even through my wired connection. The router does not have the thought, I returned it for another and ran into exactly the same problem after that, even once, ran flawlessly for 3 days. I followed the instructions on the web site: cloned PC address, manually the value of the MTU, turned down the security settings of the browser to low to nothing does not. I have since disabled the security on the router, McAfee disabled on my PC, I have reset the router, reset the parameters of what the manufacturer came and have unplugged the router and my cable modem so many times my fingers are sore. I even tried to uninstall the software of the router to my PC and tried to set up manually, all without success. Any ideas out there?

Hmmm that's weird on both routers you are faced with the same problem. I suggest that you connect your modem to the computer and follow the link for somedays. I think it must also be the problem with your modem.

  • E3000 to work with the modem configuration cable of Verizon FIOS actiontec / router

Hi all, I read knowledgebase Article ID: 3733, which seems to me on the right track, but the menu router screens listed do not correspond to the screens of the E3000.

I have a FIOS cable modem / router in the basement I should keep since she animates all FIOS guide and on the characteristics of the application. I have a NAS drive in the basement and all hard wiring runs to the basement as well.

I tried n wireless and a better location for the wireless access point, so I bought the E3000 and put it in the kitchen on the main floor

When I wired a LAN port numbered on the E3000 to LAN ports numbered on the ActionTec and introduced the router everything worked well, but quickly found that wireless clients could not see the NAS.  I suspect that it is because the E3000 uses a different address of range (192.168.0.1) as the actiontec (http://192.168.1.1/).  I finally move the NAS on the floor to temporarily solve this problem, but my wife keeps me out of his kitchen ASAP :-)

I tried almost every imaginable parameters (IP of E3000 actiontec adjustment range, disabling NAT, disable DHCP, enable/disable RIP) to get the E3000 to simply become a gateway switch wired and wireless and let the routing actiontec, but never been able to make it work.

Could someone post a version of the Article ID: 3733 who works for the E3000?

Press and hold the reset button on the E3000 router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait 30 seconds. Power cycle router E3000.

Now connect a computer to the Ethernet port on the Router 2 (do not connect the cable between the modem and E3000)

Open the E3000 configuration page. Change the settings of the E3000 router wireless.

Go to the Configuration tab and change the IP address of the E3000 router to 192.168.1.2.

Disable the DHCP server on the router and save the settings.

Do NOT change any other settings (NAT firewall).

Connect the modem cable to port Ethernet router 1 E3000. cycle power to the router.

Now try to access the Internet via E3000 router.

  • WRT160N and disable the internet connection?

Ethernet n ° 3 after installing air everythings ok, but later, my connection start on and outside, I have to unplug the modem and router to return to the connection. right now im to my router by default, anyone can say what's wrong with my connection on my netgear b4 I do not experience this kind of problem, everything is smooth. • Lose the wireless connection when the modem connects to the internet.

    Hello

I've updated my laptop to windows 7 (new installation).  I have a cable modem which is connected by ethernet to a wireless modem/router which I have configured to be a wireless access point (dhcp is the cable modem).  The laptop can connect wireless access point when the cable modem is not connected to the internet (so the ip address of the access point is 192.168.100.50 & the laptop takes an automatic ip address within the range). The problem is when I connect the modem cable to the internet, & so the ip address of the access point is derived the cable modem, the laptop can't connect to the access point. When I renew the ip address of the wireless card, it says it is connected to the selected network but the ip address is not correct, nor do I have access to the internet.

The laptop connects fine to pick up the new ip address when it is ethernet connected the access point when the cable modem is both on or off, so I can access the local access point configuration when the modem cable is off, & can access the internet when the cable modem is enabled. When it is connected with the cable modem access point wireless at sea, both my wireless & ethernet connection say that they are connected to the selected network, but as soon as I turn on the cable modem, wireless connection says it is connected to an unidentified network, but my ethernet connection is connected to the selected network.

I tried the broadcasting/no broadcast of the SSID, different levels of security, modification of the power saving options on the card wireless without success. I don't think it's a problem with the real network that the wireless card can capture the network & settings when the cable modem is disabled.

This Setup has worked well when I had win xp.  My mobile phone can capture the network without wire end also & is able to access the internet.  The driver for the wireless card is current as well as the firmware on the access point.

Can you please help? Thank you very much

    Hi Jack

You led me in the right direction with the MAC addresses on the cable modem.  It's a simple solution... turn off the cable modem so it would refresh the MAC addresses of connecting devices, & hey presto, I wireless & ethernet access internet on my laptop with wireless internet on my laptop.

    Thank you for your perseverance.

    See you soon

I have a Linksys cable modem set up and hanging the WRT310N to it. I am able to access the internet via the wireless router, but I can't seem to access web access the router. I want to update the firmware on the WRT310N, but I can't access the admin page. What should I do?

    Thank you

    Gary

You have a MACBook, you need to wire your MACBook to your Linksys router, and then click the Apple Menu on the top Leftside, click System Preferences, then click Network, then select built in Ethernet and there you will find the IP address that you get your wireless router, note down the default gateway After that open to the top of your Safari browser and the bad address Type that numbers a default gateway and press ENTER, when you are prompted for the user name and Word of past, let the emptiness of username and the password typed "admin" all lowercase and after that, you will see the page of the linksys router configuration.

  • Satellite L500-1WG - how to use the modem internal?

I am new to computers and laptops and that you just bought the Toshiba Satellite L500-1WG. I was told, in the shop, he has an internal modem?

What should I do to activiate/get connected to the internet? Do I need an external modem wired or wireless as well? No difficult language or abbreviations please, I am a total novice with very limited on this subject knowledge. Have only to learn how to start and run the basic set up.

    HEY buddy,

    > Told me, in the shop, he has an internal modem?
It seems that this shop doesn't know what they are selling or they wanted kid a small round little

It turns out satellite L500 is not equipped with modem and it doesn t have a modem (RJ12) port.

So if you want to use the modem connection, you must purchase an external. But for now he s not advised to use a modem, the majority of the pages are not designed for modem more.

  • I want to thank my wifi in another part of the House with an Airport Extreme. But I want to not be connected to the modem main via ethernet cable is it possible?

I want to thank my wifi in another part of the House with an Airport Extreme. But I want to not be connected to the modem main via ethernet cable is it possible?

I put in place already to extend the wifi of my modem still connected to the modem via ethernet cable.

Now I want to be considered on the floor and use it to extend the wifi without ethernet cable

The AirPort Extreme can extend only wireless signal from another router from Apple, so if you want to take the AirPort Extreme on the floor and extend wireless signal, you will need another airport connected to your modem by Ethernet cable router to produce the wireless signal that will extend the extreme on the floor.

Another way of saying the same thing would be to say that if you want to extend wireless using a router from Apple, you'll need two of them do... because AirPort Extreme is not compatible with a third-party modem or modem/router for this purpose.

  • Problem with TC loss of connection to the modem cable

I have a TC of 2 TB which is connected to my ISP provided by cable modem. It worked fine for 3 months after the installation in December, but now all of a sudden it will lose its connection to the modem and we lose our wireless internet. We have replaced the modem cable and it does not solve the problem. I have to reset the TC 2 - 3 times a day. Nothing else has changed recently with regard to the network set up. that only changes were to specific devices that use the wifi connection, and this was always something changing, depending on the devices we use. Any thoughts? I'm not a savvy person tech, BTW.

We need to ask a few questions in order to learn more on what the possible cause of the problem might be.  Please be patient with this. Thank you.

What is the number and the model of the modem you are using right now?  We ask because some modems work better than others with Apple routers, and even if you have changed the modem, it could still be a model who does not get along well with the Apple router... or... you could say that the router from Apple does not get along well with the modem.

How old is the TC? We ask because the life expectancy, on average, a time capsule is about 3 years.  After that, they tend to start losing connections to an ever-increasing rate.

Who is your provider of Internet (ISP) Service?  We ask because most suppliers are in the active process of implementation of a new type of connection called IPv6 in their systems... and despite ISPS claiming that their system changes should cause no difficulties connection or interruptions system... which doesn't seem to be the case at all.

We have seen an unusual number of reports from users who suddenly have problems with their ISP connection, when things were very well for many months before. That points directly to the IPv6 changes that ISPS are doing as the culprit. In some cases, there could be way to work around the problem, and in some cases, there is nothing to do but wait as the ISP to complete their changes and be everything to speed.

  • [WAG200G] problem to connect to the modem cable Alloys Atlanta Dcp2203

    Hi all!

I recently got my new cable internet access (I used to have DSL) and I want to use my WAG200G to distribute internet by air.

When I connect my laptop to the Dcp2203 of Atlanta Alloys via ethernet, I get an external IP (200.XXX.XXX.XXX). I need to adjust my ethernet interface get ip dynamically to achieve this.

    Now I need to connect Dcp2203-(ethernet)---> WAG200G - wifi---> portable

How can I configure my WAG200G to work using this structure?

    Thanks to you all!

You can't really use your WAG here. You will need a router ethernet, not a DSL router.

The only thing you can do is use the WAG as access point and connect the laptop directly to the internet. This works as long as you don't want to connect a device to the internet at any time. You will not be able to connect 2 or more at the same time, because your ISP only allows you to have an active connection at any time.

To set this up, you will need to connect a computer to the WAG. Open the web interface of the WAG to http://192.168.1.1/ to first set up your wireless network (SSID, enable WPA2 Personal Security with AES encryption and a password strong change). Disable the DHCP server on the main settings page.

Then one of the ethernet wire ports of the WAG in your modem cable. Now you can connect wireless to the WAG and the WAG access to the internet and the modem. New: your computer will have direct access to the internet and will have a public IP address. You can't have two active connections at the same time.

If you need to make changes on the WAG, you set a static IP address on your computer, for example 192.168.1.2 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Then you can access the web at http://192.168.1.1/ interface when you have completed your changes, go back to the DHCP/Auto IP on your computer.

Otherwise, you should get a router, for example Wireless Linksys WRT routers.

  • Trouble with iMac connecting directly to the modem

I have an AirPort Extreme, provision of a wifi network in my house. It is connected to a modem Concast Cisco DPC3941T model.

I planned to connect my iMac (retina 5 k, 27 "running 10.11.3) directly to the modem and not use wifi to connect to the Internet.  I plugged a bolt of lightning for the Ethernet card in and ran a cord to the Cisco modem, but the iMac doesn't recognize this connection.

Network preferences says "Thunderbolt Ethernet has an assigned IP address and won't be able to connect to the Internet."  Sorry, don't know what that means.

The reason behind the try it is that my wifi signal is de-energized intermittently and I can't understand why. So I thought that if I plugged the iMac directly I could avoid the abandonment wifi issues.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

You have removed the Airport Extreme?

If you connect the computer directly into the modem, the ethernet indicator lights on the router. It is essential for the ethernet work.

Using an ethernet cable, you bought? If it's super long they can give trouble... a short cable should be fine.

If you are not sure the little light on the AE plug the computer by ethernet in the extreme with a cord short... lights... If so, you can plug the cord of the cisco to another port ethernet on EI and make sure it works too.

Network preferences says "Thunderbolt Ethernet has an assigned IP address and won't be able to connect to the Internet."  Sorry, don't know what that means.

Ethernet is not connected or DHCP does not work. If the modem has been bridged it won't work, unless you turn off the modem for about 20 min. Then launch new follow-up to the computer.
