  • iMac connects to the router of Linkysys WRT1900ac

I am trying to help a friend get his iMac 12.1, that is running 10.11.4, to connect to a new Linksys WRT1900ac router.  The router is a novelty in this House, is in the same room of 10 x 12, as the computers listed below, and the installer was using the Linksys recommends the method, which is to let the Linksys to make adjustments.

    Here are its configuration;

    The router is connected to a cable modem, ISP and the following devices are connected to the router and works well;

    Via ethernet

    Windows 10 PC

AT & T cell phone extender

    Ooma VOIP

    Wireless

    iPhone

    iPad

    Notebook PC

While troubleshooting my MacBook 5.1 also allows to connect without problems to the Linksys router.

Note that her iMac connects without problem to the wifi network Netgear Guest unprotected from its neighbor.  I also installed in his room my 1st generation Airport Express, which has added a second wifi network but without access to the internet and his iMac connect without problems to this wifi.

    Here are the steps I took to try to solve this problem, and they were unsuccessful;

➔ Scanned for malware/adware with Malwarebytes and found nothing.

➔ Ransacked after the files in/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and restarted

    com Apple.Airport.Preferences.plist
    NetworkInterfaces.plist
    Preferences.plist

➔ When the previous did not work I trashed all the files in the folder/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration except "com.apple.boot.plist', which would not remove and rebooted

➔ Created a second user account and still not able to connect to the Linksys router

    ➔ Repaired permissions

➔ Created a new location in System Preferences > network and added the OpenDNS addresses and in the material value MTU 1453

➔ restarted in safe mode and not still could not connect

Firmware on the router Checked ➔, which is updated

    ➔ Reset SMC

➔ reinstalled El Capitan via the App Store

That's all I could think about.  I'm puzzled.

I checked the router and everything seems ok, but I'm no expert.  There may be something I'm not contagious.  I have seen that he has no MAC filtering set up in the router, so this isn't everything.

Please tell me if there is something that I'm on.  Is there something in the router, that I need to change?  There are other files in the Mac, I need to delete?  Is there any other troubleshooting steps I can take to identify this problem.

Any help would be appreciated as it is a total mystery to me.

There are a lot of variables, but start with some basic info. So on her iMac, if you click the wifi at the top right, you can see his router listed?

  • R5 - 471 T - 71W with wireless card Atheros QCA61x4A unable to reach linkup with Linksys WRT1900AC AC

Hello, I have laptop Aspire R5 - 471T - 71W with the NIC of the Qualcomm Atheros QCA61x4A wireless. I have the Linksys WRT1900AC wireless router configuration to support the chain of 80 MHz, I have the latest Firmware & drivers for installed devices. Run Win10 pro on the Aspire. Even in the same room that the WRT1900AC router, longs it reached only 802.11n connection speed. How will I know if I'm actually in 802.11ac and Win10 falsely reported my connection speed using the details of the network & sharing Panel as 300Mbps?

    Hello Jordan,.

Thanks for the pointer... I had two bands with separate SSID. Channels of communication were also in automatic. What I didn't have was the network Mode in the joint framework. Documentation of Linksys seems to be lacking on how these parameters affect the configuration of the WRT1900AC AC speed.

    I am now at 866,3 Mbit/s.

Thank you for your prompt and accurate diagnosis of the root cause.

  • WRT1900AC error 2119

    Hello

After installation of my WRT1900AC, I get an unexpected error 2119. Anyone know what I need to do? Internet LAN is no problem, stable connection. WLAN stops small cuts. For example, SONOS will play for a few minutes and then stops.

    Anyone?

    Thank you, Pierre.

    GEEP,

There is another error 2119 problem thread here in the forum... the user resolved the problem by resetting their router settings factory and re - enter manually the configuration settings. I suggest you try this... "reset" is recessed button on the back of the router, just hold it for about 10 seconds, then release. Your router will be reset by default when she returns to the top, and then re-enter your personal settings. This may well fix your problem, too.

    I hope this helps!

  • Wrt1900acs nine installed today - peripheral unknown offline appearing in the network map

Installed my new wrt1900acs today, began to connect devices, signed for the Smart Wifi Linksys. The network card correctly displays all connected devices, but there is a mystery device appear offline. I have used Parental controls to block access to this device until I can find more.

How would a device appear? It should be linked at some point?  The new router has only been for 3-4 hours.  I connected only 2 laptops, a desk and a phone to iOS. Have not connected my non - iOS wifes phone still.  There are also 2 other routers and networks connected to the same Comcast modem.

The mystery device is presented as "generic device" with only a name and a MAC address.  I was able to remove, but did not know if there was a simple explanation for it.

Yes it should have been connected or on the network at any given time.

Use the clear network adapter icon in the top-right corner of the user interface to allow the map to regenerate. I could take a few minutes.

  • Network WRT1900AC comments is seen, connectable, but no password invite or internet access

I have WRT1900AC firmware version 1.1.8.164461. The wireless channel interference is not a problem.

Under access as a guest, I can see allow guest access turned on, I have a SSID of 2.4 Ghz and a password for the guest network. Using my 2.4 Ghz devices, I can see the SSID I just referred to. My devices can connect to it.

But, once connected, I never receive a prompt for the password and I have no internet access. The screen Smart Wi - Fi are always "0 clients" are currently connected, regardless of the number of devices made the level of SSID link.

I installed the router months ago, but did not know that access as a guest did not work because it always seemed well on the router and I didn't have a camera to test with. But I just discovered that many guests were upset that they can't connect with the password that I gave them. I am very disappointed by the Linksys support answer to my question.

For now, I am getting the correct behavior after a reset of the WRT1900AC plant. The guest network is now a password in a browser for the two test devices. My comments network IP addresses have the prefix 192.168.3.x and I can't find an address 192.168.2.x on my network.

  • WRT1900ACS - is there a way to reset/refresh/clear/initialize the DHCP client table?

    I have a WRT1900ACS with the 1.0.1.174588 firmware.

There are several things that are a little weird. I noticed thre were some features missing in the network map, so I looked at the table of the DHCP client to see if they were there. The customer table is a bit a mess.

Rather than go into all the details, is there a way to reset/refresh/clear/initialize table of DHCP client? I would rather not reset the default router just to refresh a table? If the customer table is toast, it won't be very easy to track down the other expectant.

Thanks Olivier. Details have been sent according to you demand.

  • WRT1900AC slow down towards the low internet radically. Advanced done troubleshooting

    Hi guys,.

thought that I write here rather then call linksys as we all know how that will turn out

    I have a router of WRT1900AC months.

    my configuration:

    Computer--> Cat6 cable 1 GB--> 1 GB switch--> TWC atris Docsis 3.0 Modem NetGear.

Here's the scenario (which began in the last 2 weeks).

When the computer connected directly to the modem (no switch, without router)

    The speeds are: 60MBps / 6 Mbps

Computer connected to the switch, switch to the computer - not a router:

    The speeds are: 60MBps / 6 Mbps

Computer connected to the router, Modem Router Switch--> Switch:

Speed considerably down to 10 Mbps / 1.5

    Tried:

1 increased all - speeds. Added router - slow speeds.

2 reset the router to factory settings - slow speeds.

3 reset the default TWC modem and connect the router - slow speeds.

4 KeyboardDrake: changing every possible setting on the router - slow speeds.

    5. increased on computer by trying different computers, disable FW, disable slow speeds Anti Virus etc - with router in place.

I'm at a time lost... I don't understand why my WRT1900AC bring down the internet so bad...

    someone has an idea?

Try to enable Media prioritization and WMM support (by default it is enabled).

To make sure your MP that you assign bandwidth 60MBps downstream.

You don't have to move the devices or application to priority high, but just making it ready if you could make a difference.

  • WRT1900AC of external storage outside the Local network

I'm trying to set up my WRT1900AC router to access a USB attached as an external storage device. I can access the drive when I'm on the LAN, but I had no success accessing outside my local network. I enabled the FTP option in the section of external storage. With the FTP option is enabled, it then points me to the IP address that my cable modem ISP attributed to the router (192.168.0.2). Obviously this won't work from the outside world because it is not the IPV6 address. I install my modem cable to the port before 21-the 192.168.0.2 address and tried to access from outside by using my address IPV6 (ftp://77.XX.XXX.XX:21) but it will not connect. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction, as I obviously don't do something here.

Hello, Steve99888. You must configure the settings of folder first. Check out this link.

  • Router Linksys WRT1900ac - unable to access the USB drive shared on the WiFi 5 GHz

    Hello

I have a strange problem. I use my Linksys WRT1900ac for almost a year and it works great. There is a USB hard drive plugged into it and I have no problem to access the data. I brought a new desktop computer that is compatible 5 GHz. All my other devices are connected trought 2.4 GHz.

When I connect my computer to the 5 GHz WiFi network, I have access to the internet and any other player shared the router. It I connect it to the network 2, 4 GHz, it works. The 2.4 and 5 GHZ networks have the same configuration. The only difference is the SSID. I added 5g at the ent of the 5 GHz one.

I really don't understand why I can't access the shared drive of the 5 GHz network and it works on the 2, 4 GHz. I forgot something?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

It could be that when you connect to the 5 GHz network, your PC is set to public and therefore discovery network is disabled, then you are not able to see the drive.  Just throw it out there.

  • Server WRT1900AC DNS (?) Questions

It is a separate, but related to the thread - question WRT1900AC DHCP do not distribute the specified static DNS entries

I have not seen this documented function of anywhere, but it seems that the WRT1900AC has an internal DNS server? The router is set to dhcp clients local (front & reverse) on my local network with DNS suffix that is issued by my ISP (via external DHCP). Accordingly, it is causing conflicts on my network name resolution.

Example: My router receives its external address via DHCP from my ISP (WebPass). The optional parameter "domain name" is not editable (see screenshot)

Now, when a dhcp client internal registers on the network with a name in conflict (for example, the www host name) it will cause a DNS conflict on the LAN:

    Nslookup www.web-pass.com

    Server: 172.16.1.1

    Address: 172.16.1.1 #53

    Name:www.web-pass.com

    Address: 172.16.1.110

where it should resolve correctly to 184.106.186.186. In addition

Don't get me wrong, I'd like a DNS local on my router - but for it to be functional and conflict prevention, the following must be done:

    1. Allow editing of the "Domain name" field to create a distinct and not conflicting namespace.
    2. Allow the ability to add static DNS for non-dhcp clients
    3. Leave the option to disable the local DNS server, for those who use & prefer their own internal DNS server
    4. Fix the bug (DHCP/DNS) mentioned at the beginning of the wire

If anyone has thoughts, observations, any other solution to workaround it please feel free add on this thread.

Linksys support reached out for me and I got a call with one of its engineers (Julie Louh - which was very useful) on this subject. It also has the problem of DHCP/Static DNS (mentioned at the beginning of the original post) of design to allow the IP address of the router to resolve the site of smart wifi Linksys (Cloud / anywhere configuration). She confirmed that the router uses IP addresses is entered in the static DNS config for DNS lookups.

On the DNS server issues described in this post, it should present the following feature requests:

    1. Allow editing of the "Domain name" field to create a distinct and not conflicting namespace.
    2. Allow the ability to add static DNS for non-dhcp clients

Of course, these feature enhancements will move up the chain of management for approval. But I think that if these 2 are implemented it will solve the main problems described here.

On a separate note, I was very pleased with the customer service and the reaction of Belkin/Linksys. The personal reachout to a technical support technician really shows that they are determined to make this powerful router and feature rich as they promised it would be.

  • Problems of configuration of IPTV, WRT1900ACS.

Hello. I have big problems getting my IPTV to work with my WRT1900ACS. I'm failry certain that it has something to do with something in the router configuration, but what and where is the question. VLAN? Port forwarding? If I go with my cable ISP directly on the uses of the socket of the TV, it works, but as soon as I go through my router, it doesn't. Everything else works, and after reading about this a little bit on the net, it seems almost obvious that I have to click or configure something in my Smart Wifi of Linksys. I'm a lot of people thought have had these problems and in the hope that they were able to solve them.

Someone has good directions on where to start? I'll also call support for IPTV, but since signals will be mainly done in the router, my guess is that they will not be able to solve. I'm really grateful for any help I can get. I had so many technical problems the last few months, I don't even start taking place with them here...

I live and the Sweden and the IPTV provider's Viasat. The box is a Samsung.

    Kind regards

    Thomas

We are pleased to know that you were able to make it work. If you need our help once again, you know where to find us. Have a good!

  • [WRT1900AC] Problems with the subtitles (.) (SRT) with. MP4. AVI and others. MKV videos

    Hello

I use the WRT1900ACS 2.0.0.173388 firmware and I noticed a few videos with. Just SRT subtitles does not work on my smarttv via DLNA server.

I have some MKV videos with. The SRT subtitles I can perfectly look through DLNA, but. MP4. AVI and others. MKV seems simply do not find subtitles.

All of these videos with. SRT subtitles, I can watch properly on my Mac or directly into the USB port on the TV, which seems to clearly be a problem with the router or some settings.

I tried to rename the extension of the file from. MP4 and. AVI to MKV, but also did not work.

Are there other settings that I can do?

I suggest you use a software of 3 rd-party, which we are not trained for, that can integrate the file of external subtitles for YouTube videos. Media Server is a router feature that will allow you to stream multimedia files to your DLNA or active UPnP devices within your network. With this, external subtitles as SRTs file may or may not be detected because it is not a file of DLNA support.

  • WRT1900AC with internet speed problems

So I've recently updated my 30mbps to 180mbps Comcast internet. We decided to get new hardware to support this faster speed that our 'old' was quite old. The old router is a Linksys E2000, not terribly old, but does support up to 300 Mbps. Our upgrade includes the WRT1900AC and a modem Arris Surfboard SB6183, both purchased about 3 months ago.

Now here's my number: At the time when we thought that the new internet, router and modem seemed quick and we really didn't actually check our speeds are after you configure the settings. After about a month I started noticing the buffering in the videos and on the websites of loading time slower. I decided to perform a speed test on speedtest.net and found that the speed was down to what she was before us all, upgraded 30mbps... This is certainly not what I pay for...

A crossed wireless settings to try various channels rather than just auto and got one that seems to work. Channel 11-2, 462 GHz on the 2.4 GHz network and channel 157 - 5.785 GHz on 5 Ghz. prioritization of media network also tried lit after reading that would solve the problem. He did it! I was getting around 150mbps down, so it was a big improvement. Awesome its fixed!

I ignore the case for a few weeks, but later concluded that the internet was down to 35mbps. This confused me because I did not change settings either. I do more research and find how to configure bandwidth downstream under MP settings. He seemed to be attached to all about 30mbps so I upped it to 200 Mbit / s. save the settings, restart the router just to be sure and do a speed test. Nothing has changed. Always get a slower speed to about 35mbps down and 12 upwards.

I tried everything I found on the internet with no results. To reset the router to factory settings to change the channel under network settings for each network. Still nothing. It fluctuated between 20-35mbps down with the settings I've adjusted and does not exceed 35. I don't know if there is a hidden buffer, I should be searching or if it's something else.

If I'm missing any info in this I'm going to try my best to fill it.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thank you

    Matthew

Your bandwidth downstream MP must be set to 184320. Active WMM.

To ensure that the issue is not the modem or ISP connect a computer directly to the ISP modem and run the speed test. Keep in mind that on your network the user could also heavily use the Internet causing the performance problem.

  • wrt1900ac antennas

    Hello

Just got my wrt1900ac and I wonder there is no technical difference between the antennas, broadcasting four antenna all the same data? or two do not broadcast the 2.5 GHZ and the other 5 GHZ, etc.. I have two high-gain external antennas and want to know which of the four, I should replace, if there is a difference or if she does'nt question that is not being replaced.

    Thank you.

tech support says that it is not serious.

  • #bug in WRT1900AC?

    Hi guys,.

On the latest firmware for WRT1900AC, recently attached a drive hard usb 3 (model: 1 TB toshiba stor.e tv kit alu).  The DLNA media server works well for use of movies, but I have problems saving the file on the disk (using pc Windows 7).  I record lower at 4.19 GB files, but something bigger still a few bytes, it copies the file until it reaches 4 194, 304 MB, then he told me helpfully I ran out of space and he needs (size of file - 4.19 GB) more to finish the move/copy, she then starts over again the copy of the file until it arrives at the same point.  I can copy large files same to my box NAS dedicated to my pc windows, no problem.  First impressions may cache partitions or Exchange on the WRT1900AC are perhaps too small?, but of course we can't ssh to the box to find out.

Anyone know of a work around?  (I tried switching ftp, but it starts the ftp: / /: 21 instead of my internal IP.)  It does not open port 21 on the wan and if I try to add via port forwarding, it won't let me add it the ip of the internal routers - so I can not telnet/ftp to see if I can transfer files, which by the way instead.  Since the discovery of this limit, I copied loads of large files, less than 4,19 GB with no problems.  Unfortunately, most of the video files that I have are bigger than that.

Another is that everything seems to work very well.

Thanks chadster, a quick convert on win 7 and everything back running.
