WRT54G Router by ping how-to Internet port.

Hello world

I have a small question for you. My LAN has a main router that is configured on the linux system. And I have 2 WRT54G routers which should be the wireless access point. First question is therefore:

Is it possible to set up the routers on the Access Point mode? I have not found this option anywhere...

Second question is-> when I connected my LAN via the Internet port that I can't ping routers WRT... when I try to ping the routers I just received 100% packet loss. How do I put this activate port ping, because I would like to set up the routers via another VLAN.

Now I connect this routers via the switch port, and there the work but I want to use internet port-> appropriate in my opinion.

Thank you for any help

1. to use a WRT as simple access point, set it to a free LAN IP address inside your existing LAN subnet and disable the DHCP server. Then, plug the WRT via a LAN port number to your existing network. Do not use the internet port on the WRT.

2. If you connect your WRT via the internet port (not recommended for your configuration), you must disable the "anonymous block ICMP" or similar in the Security page of the router. If you want to configure the WRT via the internet port, you need to enable remote management.

3. I always highly recommend to connect the WRT via a LAN port, as in no. 1. It's much better. Only, you have a single subnet LAN and no cascade of routing. Also, all computers can access each other. See also here.

I'll try to provide as much information as possible. My mother-in-law gave me his wrt54g router so that we could get Netflix through our Wii. I have an old Compaq laptop for a year and am running Windows 7 with a wireless Internet connection through my service provider. I installed the router with no problems and was able to do online with the Wii. However, I am more able to get Internet access on my desk. It shows that my Internet is connected but it displays "no network access.  I had on fine at first, then I went on the 192.168.1.1 site to configure my data.  I changed my time zone and then to secure my connection.  I don't remember the exact option that I chose, but I think it was something like personal WAP2. As soon as I selected the screen has frozen and I can not access this site or access the Internet through the router. If I unplug my Ethernet cable from the router and plug it directly into the pc I get very well online. I know that this router works with a PPPoE connection, because it's what my mother-in-law a. tried to get support from my ISP, but they left open-mouthed via chat.  Can someone help me understand how to get this router to allow me access so I can use office and the Wii?  Thank you.

Fix it!  I called my local service provider and explains the problem. He had me go in the settings of the router and change the connection between "Connect on Demand ' and 'Keep Alive '.  Everything works fine now.  Thank you!

Connect the modem to the Internet port and main computer to the Ethernet port on the router.

Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait 30 seconds. Power cycle the router and reconfigure it manually.

    Hello

    You need Virtual WiFi:

You may not have that unless you try to connect to other WiFi devices via your computer and
many WiFi devices and their drivers do not correctly support the virtual pilot.

Check with the manufacturer of system and/or support updated real manufacturer Sites and WiFi device drivers.
(Which is also updating the driver virtual.) If no new drivers WiFi are available then re - install the present
    one.

Control Panel - network - write down of the brand and the model of the Wifi - double click top - tab of the driver - write
version - click the driver update (cannot do something that MS is far behind the pilots of certification). Then
Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

Download - SAVE - go where you put it - right click – RUN AS ADMIN.

You can download several at once however restart after the installation of each of them.

After watching the system manufacturer, you can check the manufacturer of the device an even newer version.
(Those become your fonts of rescue system manufacturer).

Repeat for network card (NIC) and is a good time to get the other updated drivers as
Windows 7 like the updated drivers.

  • Router will not connect to internet (modem Comcast)

I have had this router for a few months with no problems. But this morning all my computers says limited connection... I'm still on the network, but not internet available.

I tried to unplug the power on the modem and the router, but the same thing happens. If I connect a computer directly to the cable modem, I have access to the internet very well, which leads me to believe that it's a junk router.

R7000 genius says not connected as well...

    Any ideas/suggestions?

Since you seem to be getting an Internet connection very well when the connections of a PC connected to the modem, I would recommend that you try to spoof the MAC than PC. To do this simply:

From the PC that you are able to access Internet when connected directly to the modem, connect a cable to one of the four on the R7000 LAN ports. Connect to it via http://192.168.1.1/ with admin as user name and password as password. Click Advanced , and then select Setup -> Internet Setup. Make sure everything is set to automatic and dynamic and to the last option for The MAC address of the router you choose to use computer MAC address. Click apply and wait for the page to come back. He should get back to work now!

If it still doesn't work, please tell us how the Internet light on the front of the router is turned on (the globe).

  • Problems with my WRT54GS router

The Assistant telling me that my router is not connected correctly. I chose the option "Replace my current router" and I moved the cable connected to the port on my router 2WIRE to the port on my router linksys 'Internet' "broadband." I then moved the ethernet cable from my router 2WIRE to my linksys router. Those are the only two cables (not counting the power cables) connected to the linksys router and yet the wizard keeps giving me an error. Can someone help me please? Thanks in advance.

Well, let's see.  You can read the manual that came with the router, you might perform an Internet search on how to confugire your router, you can go to the Linksys website and read the configuration of your router.  Or...

Go here if you have the connection cable.

Go here if you have the DSL connection.

    A lot of options.

  • Vs BDP-S350 WRT54G Router

    Hello

I buy a Sony Blue Ray BDP-S350 and I try to connect to the Internet to update firmware and option BD-Live.  The Blue Ray was wired connect the WRT54G Router, but it can't see the network.  The led corresponding to the port for the Blue Ray on router is turned on.  The configuration of the Blue Ray was "Using DHCP".  I try to put an IP static, but without success.

I had a special configuration to the WRT54G?

    Thanks for your help.

    René

I guess that your WRT54G is set on "IP address local" 192.168.1.1 and that your DHCP server is "activated" and the range of DHCP servers is always set to the default value of 192.168.1.100 thru 192.168.1.149 - is that correct?

If so, your Blu - ray player should be connected when the option "using DHCP".  If you have a long cable (especially more than 30 feet), make sure that you use a cat5e or cat6 high quality cable.  Have you tried to close down the Blu - ray the WRT54G and using a short cable that you know works?  If this is not the case, try this and see if it works.

If you can not always get the Blu - ray to connect, then try to set the Blu - ray in a static LAN IP address.  Note that a static LAN IP address must be outside the range of the DHCP server, and it cannot end with 0, 1 and 255.  For example, try 192.168.1.20 (assuming that you do not use this address elsewhere).  You must also set the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, default gateway to 192.168.1.1 and the DNS server on 192.168.1.1.  Note that some devices may not use DNS server to the proxy of the router at 192.168.1.1, so if this setting does not work, then insert your real address in Server Internet DNS (found in the router on the status tab).

Please let me know if it worked or not.

  • Could not save the WRT54G Router settings!

Recently, I have reset the Linksys WRT54G Router because I can't get the page with a note to "CONTINUE", I used to have. I can also save the new setting. What comes out is a blank page. Pls help me. Thank you.

This problem is usually caused by suboptimal communication between the computer and the router. The most common cause for this is a computer software firewall problem, but there are also several other possible causes:

To view web pages of the router (and to solve problems "Cannot save settings"):

You don't need an Internet connection. 'web Pages' of the router are integrated into the router.
Use Internet Explorer, it usually works.
    JavaScript must be enabled.
Use a computer that is connected to the router.
In the non-working computer, temporarily disable your firewall software.

Point your browser to 192.168.1.1, and then connect to your router. Your username must be left blank. Your password is "admin" (without the quotes), unless you changed it.

If you use Zone Alarm, do a right-click on the ZA icon in the taskbar (bottom right of screen) then click on "Shutdown ZoneAlarm" and see if that solves your problem. If this does not work, try the following with Zone Alarm: open the control center ZAISS, go to privacy, then temporarily disable Ad Blocking and Cookie Control and see if it solves your problem.

Some Zone Alarm users reported that the addition of 192.168.1.1 to their address list "of trust" solved the problem. This trick can also work with other firewalls.

If you use Noton Internet Security with the add-on Pack, don't forget to disable the blocker and ad blocker. Some users have reported that they needed to uninstall all Norton Add-on Pack.

If you can not get anything to 192.168.1.1 then perhaps this is not the address of the router. Go to 'Start' > all programs > Accessories > command prompt.
A black DOS window will appear. Type "ipconfig" (with no quotes), and press the Enter key. Look at the "default gateway". It is 192.168.1.1? Point your browser to the 'default gateway', can connect you to your router.

If the above fails, unplug your modem router, then try again. If it solves your problem, then you probably a "modem-router" rather than a regular modem. A report with this problem and also specify the brand and exact model of your modem (not router) number.

If all above fails them, turn off your entire system, unplug it from the wall, wait a minute, then lights up, then try again.

If all the above tips fail, then reset the default router: power down the router and unplug all the wires. Wait a minute. Switch on the router, let it fully boot (1-2 minutes), then press and hold the reset for 30 seconds button, then release the button and allow the router to reset and restart (2-3 minutes). Turn off the router. Wait a minute. To connect to a computer, cable, a router's LAN port. Initialize the system. It should work.

If you still have problems, then you must download and install (or reinstall) the latest firmware for your router. After the update of the firmware, you must reset the default router, and then configure the router again from scratch. If you have saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.

  • How do I port forward on apple airport? (READ ALL)

I have an airport express from apple connected to an asus router via wifi and I need to know how I can portforward by airport to the router because my pc is connected by ethernet to the airport. Help, please.

The express should be none not routing at all and therefore no port forwarding.

The only way this can work is the express installation to the wireless bridge... Apple called client mode... There is no routing.

BUT it can also have port problems... It is really unsuitable if you operate in questions.

In any case all the transfer is possible on the Asus.

  • Problem with my WRT54G Router.

    Hello!

I have a problem with my WRT54G Router. From time to time, he will leave the connection but it back a few seconds later. Now, it is an annoyance, whenever I try to stream a video game or even simply online.

The problem could be related to my modem? Or my ISP? The router itself has 2 wired computers sharing the internet connection. The connection is dropped on both computers, of course.

Now, this situation can also hit its use torrent? I was the client download of World of Warcraft official website and it seemed to keep the speed of around 25 KB/s. That really seems low given the amount of seeders and the overall performance of my connection.

I appreciate any help and I can also provide any additional information.

Try to reflash/upgrade of the firmware of the router. You can download the firmware from the linksys Web site. After upgrading the firmware, reset the router, power cycle it and re - configure the router from scratch.
