WRt54G ver8.2
Sliding the in the wrong forum once, sorry while trying to update my Comodo Internet Security program today I refuse to see my internet connection or allow me to get on. Uninstalled and allworked fine with the windows firewall for now. Call LELA and he could not be programmed to support so I could see the network, all gray by tabs. Know that it works well and the wireless side seems ok. Acts like he wants a new configuration, while the old network is always there. Clues?
Version 3.0 has travelled far, thanks

I am unable to connect to the Linksys WRT54G Router with wired connection to Office XP.
My two laptops (XP and a Win7) will be connected to the router wireless and wired (ethernet). When it is plugged directly into the DSL modem, the Office connects and works very well. This problem started when I had to replace the DSL modem.
I inherited this problem for my elderly mother... and it all started because they gave me the router password wrong, who now works (router has been reset) on two laptops, but when connected, the Office doesn't even show a light of connection on the router except during startup. I no longer get a window of logon passwork for the router, and I am unable to connect/ping the router in the office. (192.168.1.1)
I would like to clarify a few things.
1. two laptops work fine with cable connections and wireless through the WRT54G.
2 desktop PC, which has only a wired connection, does not connect successfully.
3. the symptoms of the failure of the desktop connection to are that the link on the router at the start light flashes during initialization of the PC but then will Dim.
4. when the desktop PC trying to connect to the internet, it fails.
5 when the desktop PC try to connect to the administration WRT54g page it fails.
6. when the desktop computer try PIING the router at 192.168.1.1 IP address it fails.
These points are correct?
Assuming this is correct, open a command prompt and type
IPCONFIG/ALL
The output of the command should provide some information about the current state of the network connection.
It would be useful that you posted this here release.
The absence of a link light can be your main symptom and may be due to several reasons. He probably has an associate status "media disconnected" in IPCONFIG for the network connection.
This could be caused by a bad network cable or a network connection disabled in the properties of the network on the PC. Small jets knowing the ot IPCONFIG output is would help more.
Post this info if you can.
Good luck

Hello
Cable/DSL wireless router are stand alone devices that are supported on any computer with Ethernet networking capabilities (cable or wireless).
All versions of Windows + Apple + Linux may run together when connecting to a router as the WRT54, and/or routers newer wireless for the end user.

Connection with a switch EZXS55W or a second router WRT54G to my router network WTR300N home?
I have a home office in my basement with my computer connected to a lan of my WRT300N router that is set up on the first floor and networking with three additional computers to the floor as well. I want to add 2 additional computers in my basement and wireless is not a good set upward because the signal strength is very low. I have great reception on the floor and even on the second floor where my children are connected from their rooms. My question is: I have an older WRT54G Router I use is more and want to know if I can connect it to my WRT300N using the lan line ran down in the basement which is connected to one of the Ethernet ports of the WRT300N? If so, how the connection and set up the second router? Also, I can use Ethernet cables to connect my three computers to the second router or what I need to use the wireless of the second router? I was looking at the switch EZXS55W at the Wal-Mart local and thought that was my answer, but after a search through all the answers of the basis of knowledge here, I'm confused on the approach to take and which one would be the best game for me. Here, any help would be great!
With the EZX you extended your wired LAN. You can still use the WRT54G to add another point for other cable ports and wireless access. Just do these 4 steps as stated in my previous post.
You can connect the WRT54G the WRT300N or the EZX. Basically, it's all the same. You don't have to turn off the switch before you connect a device.
If you want to use the additional wireless WRT54G, you can try to set up a roaming wireless network. Implement the WRT with identical settings as on the WRT300N wireless, i.e. identical SSID and wireless security the same (preferably WPA2) personal with a good password. Do not turn off the SSID broadcast on either WRT. Only the allocation of channels should be different at a time to avoid any interference. Now the devices should be able to move from one access point to another without losing the network connection.
However, if you perform this configuration test carefully. I don't know how it works if you have a N Router and a G. If this does not work, use different SSID on both. You can then choose which SSID to connect to on the client.

Disable DHCP on WRTU54G behind WRT54G, impossible to get the blue light
I spent several hours today trying to set up my second router (WRTU54G) behind the first router (WRT54G) with the DHCP offshore on the second router, but blue light don't come. My first router is connected to the modem. There is nothing wrong with the phone service, it works with a LAN WAN Setup on my routers and the blue light comes on. But I'm trying to get everything on my network to answer and turn on sharing, so I'll try the config LAN to LAN on the two routers with DHCP disabled on the second. No blue on light. I also tried the Bridge mode on the second router but that did not work. By browsing these forums, I opened the ports 5060-5061 and 16384-16482 on my first router but I don't know what IP address to assign them. What I'm trying to do is to use my router second, WRTU54G of VOIP, like a switch, but also use it for telephone service. I know that I can just swap the routers and that should work, but y at - it another way?
Thanks for the reply, but that has not worked for me. But I finally got to work now, after some more googling and play with the settings. I have stuck on the 'Bridge' on the WRTU54G mode but kept the connection between the two routers on LAN to WAN connection. This didn't work at first but after only 20 minutes to leave and the blue light came all my computers are on DHCP IPs the first router too.

Using WRT54G as the second wireless with E2500
Have read the threads on this, I want to make sure I have this correct.
Currently I use the E2500 as my main router at my house (top). I replaced my WRT54G with the E2500 to my DSL connection throughout the House.
I run an ethernet as a hard link at the bottom of my smart TV cable.
I now add another device (Channel Master DVR +) that it will also take an internet connection.
I need two connections from an ethernet cable (already run down). After reading a bit, looks like I can use my old WRT54G as a secondary router/switch down. (Sorry if I'm not using the correct terms).
In order to get my two connections (Smart TV and DVR +) I need at least a separator, or something? However... "Why not extend my lower wireless for a stronger wireless connection down?" was my way of thinking.
How can I configure my E2500 to recognize the WRT54G - run two difficult connections to my TV and DVR + and also extend a stronger signal wireless downstairs for my daughters iPod Touch?
Thanks - Glen
Who did the trick! You Rock! Thank you so much cub for your help and quick of Reid. I may be back later this week when my DVR + gets here but hope not. Thanks again!

How to get the IP address Linksys WRT54GS DHCP assigns to a Wi - Fi connection?
To connect the Linksys WRT54GS to a demonstration of Microchip DV102411 WiFi Comm card I need the IP address assigned by DHCP. The Administration WRT54GS log is enabled, but there is no incoming or outgoing network activity. The DV102411 can see the SSID linsys scanning for wireless networks and attached to it but once attached, I need to know the address IP of the DV102411 has been given by the WRT54GS.
You can consult the router DHCP client table.

Linksys WRT54GS Help - Bricked itself?
Hello community,
I recently inherited a router Linksys WRT54GS my boyfriend hasn't needed. I kept it in storage for about 6 months because I didn't really need, but yesterday, I found that lying around and decided to go ahead and plug it in, to see if I could use it as a switch to connect my computer, Xbox and PS3. So I plug it into the wall... And it seems dead. All of the lights on the front panel are turned off. On a whim, I decided to plug it into my computer, wired and test pings. I kept getting the "Network unreachable" error, and the router was not network. However, the light on the front corresponding to the numbers 1-4 port back lit up when I plugged my computer at each port. There is no reset anything else, even after a 30-30-30. Should what steps I take now?
It is possible that the router no longer works. Have you tried to use the router when your friend gave you? If you are still not able to ping the router using its IP address standard, try setting static IP on your computer using 192.168.1.50 for the IP address and 192.168.1.1 for the default gateway. Once the IP static value, try to ping the router command and access the router page using 192.168.1.1.

WRT54G Router must be the default factory restore to work
Hello
I have a router WRT54G 3 version it works fine but suddenly stops working. When this happens, I don't have access to the internet or on the pc connected directly to the router or the wireless-connected devices
I tried to powercycle the moden router and releasing and renewing DHCP and it does not work yet.
The solution I found is to restore default settings and reconfigure all the settings wireless again.
If someone knows why this happens, if there is a better solution would be great.
Thanks to all in advance
Might be time for a new router. Ive had a couple of neighbors with these old routers and they seem to be 'exhausted '. Firmware flashing does not seem to help and not sure it's even now available since its so old. If you go with another, not to buy. If you do not need to be able to load 3 party firmware so don't spend a fortune for one who is capable of it. If this wrt54g was enough then look who has tapes times 2.4 and 5 ghz, but in price about $50 dollars range should be good. Good luck

Site WEB BLOCKED on WRT54G V6 (Firmware Version: v1.02.8)
Hello friends,
In short: why block some Web pages and others do not use this feature in my router? As mentioned above, I run a small office and uses one: WRT54G V6 (Firmware Version: v1.02.8): router.
For example, I managed to block sites like 'sex.com' and others. Also, blocking sites by keywords such as: News, music, vid, naked, etc. BUT, when I try to block FACEBOOK or TWITTER or by URL or keyword, guess what: IT DOES NOT WORK...!
No idea why this is happening and how can I be successful in the configuration of this feature? I'd appreciate that! Blessings...
Just to let you know two things:
1. I contacted Linksys live chat and they confirmed Web sites I want blocked using the protocol https, thye can not be blocked because the router features
2. as mentioned before, I warned an account with DynDNS as you suggest, followed their instructions, and after 24 hours or more, the protection is active...! Now no one in my little office is losing work time to monitor their FB status or send tweets! In addition, because my office is on the first floor of my house, I have peace of mind because I can block different sites using their "protection plans" categories: sport, games, porn, social media, blogs, videos, etc. I love...! I would recommend this service to anyone
Thank you

Cannot access the configuration of my router (wrt54g) page
I can't access the page of my router (wrt54g) configuration after the installation. The router works fine, but whenever I try to connect to 192.168.1.1 it says the password is incorrect. The first time that I put up I changed the default user name and password and I thought I'd simply forgotten, so I reset the device. This time I don't change any of the default values, and I can not even log on. I have to reset it several times, and you're just annoying. Anyone know how to prevent it from happening? I thought it might be a firmware issue, but I can not find all downloads for my version of road ' rs (V8). I use a macbook pro, osx 10.9.2.
My neighbor has pretty much the same question. Did some research and found many people with similar problems. Probably time for a new...

Hi all
I have been using a WRT54G Router for many years. Great router! I have upgraded to an EA3500 and need an answer to a question. Is there a software for the WRT54G that must be uninstalled before installing the EA3500? I remember an installation CD for the WRT54G running which I did more. I looked to uninstall all over my computer and cannot find anything. I am running Vista.
I'd love to help appreciate with sunrise the new router and running. Are there any problems that may exist to upgrade to the EA3500? I have so many devices connected through the router noiw I thought it was time to upgrade.
Thanks in advance for your help.

No no software to install. Install the new router.

LELA 3.0 for WRT54G?
My main computer is under WIN XP SP3 and uses an Ethernet to my router WRT54G (version 5.0). My second computer also runs WIN XP and uses a wireless connection to the router. I shared my files on computers and the printer USB which is connected to my main computer, but I can't see the printer or files on my main computer of my secondary computer, and I can see the shared files on my secondary computer of my first computer. Yet, when I go to the Linksys configuration, it is clear that the two computers are connected. I tried implementing the network using WIN XP, but it does say that my network is managed by other software.
LELA 3.0 would solve this problem? It is still available for the WRT54G? If so, how do I download. Everything I find on the site Web of Linksys technical support for LELA information, but no download link.
Thank you
Thank you! In the end, I bought Cisco's Network Magic and it worked like a charm. All problems solved easily with this software!
