[WS10] Feedback SLES gets corrupted disk

Does turn a SLES 11 guest in Workstation 9 no problem almost year-round.  After the upgrade to WS 10 guest suspended on startup. I had to reboot the client and upon restart initrd reported the error:

Error 16: Inconsistent filesystem Structure

The virtual machine has been roasted.  So I created a new virtual machine within WS10.  SLES 11 SP2 installation went well, but on reboot, the Hung guest.  He hung so badly that the comment process will not re-start and that he could not be killed.  I had to reboot my entire army.  The virtual machine is restarted, I got the same error: "incompatible file system structure.

The client is running 3.0.38 - 0.5

The virtual computer is configured with 64 GB of RAM, 16 processors and a single 1 TB virtual disk (not allocated in advance).

WS10 itself is pretty grumpy and open hangs for a while open settings, by clicking on restart, etc..

The host is Windows 7 64 bit, 256 GB of RAM, 2 x E5-2670 (total of 16 cores, 32 processors with hyperthreading).

I was wondering if it is a known problem with VMware, or I have a new problem

Thank you

Dave

A virtual machine with this record is IMHO a ticket to the problems. I wouldn't like that of any useful data in a virtual machine.
Too much RAM and CPU using a vmdk more in addition to the other side.

If you really need the RAM and the CPU you should also give a preallouee vmdk virtual machine.

One little mistake with a drive can increasingly do all the unreadable disk.
Préallouée record on the other side are also stable and forgiving error like a physical machine on hard drives ordinary.

I use vmdk growing with a dimension nominal superior say 200 GB only for test VMs.
For virtual machines with VMDK preallouees only valid data should be used

  • I get corrupted files indexing whenever I have access directly to the files on my system.

I installed Windows 7 on a partition of a raid 0 with Windows XP on a second partition as a dual boot. The installer went well and all the drivers seem to work well. It seems anytime access to files via windows Explorer, my computer, etc., the indexing of files get corrupted. The system detects corruption and upon reboot it travels the disk repair utilities and deletes several files indexing, that it says are corrupt and the cycle goes round. I disabled the indexing on all partitions file and the problem got better but I still occasionally run the disc scan and correct indexing errors more. Everyone knows about this problem?

    Hi clonemark,

Thanks for the reply on the community forum.

Have you run any disk hard diagnosis tools that your hardware vendor can provide?  Initially, it sounds like there may be some bad sectors on the disks themselves hard.  If your system is under warranty, you may contact your provider and walk through a test of health with them.  If this is not the case, they have a tool on the site to help you with this.

Don't forget a RAID 0 provides no redundancy so if any disk fails, without a State of full system / or all of the files you want to back up you are in danger of losing everything.  I want to make sure it is before much more is done, please make a good backup of all the data that you consider to be important for you on this system.

In addition, if the material is not corrupted.  Check if the table that you created is corrupt.  Errors that you are declaring seem to indicate somewhere in this - table of data or hardware is damaged.  If chkdsk runs and can't find any error then it would be not significant to this procedure, but chkdsk running and to find errors, this is what is worrying.

After checking if the material and the table are healthy, start in a clean boot state.

Step 1: Perform a clean boot - this comes from an article in Windows Vista, however, the procedure is the same.  Don't forget to follow step 7 of this article, after the troubleshooting steps are made - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note if the computer is connected to a network, the network may be policy settings prevent you from following these steps. We recommend strongly that you do not use System Configuration utility to change startup options on the computer, unless a support engineer Microsoft directs you to do so. This can make the computer unusable.

    1. Log the computer by using an account with administrator rights.
    2. Click Start

, type msconfig.exe in the box start looking for and then press ENTER to start the System Configuration utility.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

  • On the general tab of the , click on selective startup of , and then click to clear the load startup items check box. (The box use the file Boot isn't available.)
  • Under the Services tab, select the hide all Microsoft services checkbox and then click disable all.

Note Following this step lets services Microsoft continue to run. These services include networking, Plug-and-Play, record of events, error reporting, and other services. If you disable these services, you can permanently delete all restore points. Do not do this if you want to use to restore the system with the existing restore points.

  • -Click OK and then click Restart.
  • After you restart your computer follow these Rummy to run chkdsk.  This should stop the procedure was running and bringing only to run in your previous post.  Run chkdsk until more no error is detected.  Then the run once more to verify it shows always 0 errors.

If you still experience the problem, and all the steps listed above have been verified, run a tool to remove malware and VIRUS SCAN on all partitions in your operating system.  Check that there is no software of thugs on the system.

  • My files on the hard drive are getting corrupted?

I use the model of MacBook Air 2013 Yosemite running. I have a Seagate BackPlus 1 TB drive to NTFS. And I use Tuxers NTFS on my Mac to read and write files from NTFS devices. Lately, I'm sloly from knowledge that my files on the hard drive are getting corrupted. When I try to open any folder I blocks until I have remove my hard drive. I lost some files like this. Now, they are completely inaccessilble. The big sone files show even ehen 0 bytes, they are around a GB or something. I start out freak because all my data is in this hard drive. 1 TB of data. Its my life is locked in it.

Is someone can you please tell me what is happening with my hard drive?

    Thanks in advance...

Is someone can you please tell me what is happening with my hard drive?

Probably not. The problem you are experiencing is almost certainly that the drive itself has failed. It could have also been caused by third party software that you use to support a formatted NTFS volume. Isolate the cause to one or the other is probably not an effort worth it, because the files themselves are probably already damaged and unusable. In this case the only alternative to certain to succeed is to restore from a backup.

As you know the Mac FAT32 and ExFAT supports and can read, but not write - formatted NTFS volume. For this reason, if you ask the Windows compatibility, you must select ExFAT.

You could try using the third-party data recovery software, even if success is not guaranteed. I can offer no specific product recommendations.

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

  • Failed to get the disk partition information when you add the new data store

    Hello

Update my ESX to version 4 Update 1 (4.0.0, 256968). Now, I'm trying to add a new data store to a cluster in vCenter and receive the following error message when I will review the current structure of the disc "error when configuring the host: failed to get the disk partition information. When I click back, then next, there's no error message but in the formatting window, I get the error "Object reference" not set to an instance of an object.

I see this question has been asked before, but I can't seem to find an appropriate response. Anyone? The interface using CLI instead of vCenter isn't an option (alignment VMFS, workload and so on)

I use Dell R900 with an EMC Symmetrix VMax SAN

The size of the LUN I want to add is 741 GB

    Concerning

    Marius Aulie

If you have a virtual machine for Windows test, you could do the following, to ensure that the logic unit number has a clean partition table:

-set the LUN as a GROSS physical to virtual machine device

-Run diskpart, select the drive and run the CLEAN command

-detach the LUN to the virtual machine

-try to create the data on the LUN VMFS store

The size of the block of the data store where the VM test can be a problem with the above. Due to the size of the LUN, the size of the block of the data store must be at least 4 MB. Attach the LUN to a physical test system could be an alternative.

  • Installation procedures w / all Cal Exec, getting corrupt files Error 1335.

We bought just Calibration Executive v3.3 with all procedures, then we can expand our capabilities in the laboratory of metrology. While installing procedures of the discs, I get errors of corruption (1335) for all the cabins on each disc. I tried to copy the disks to the hard drive and get the same error. We are running windows xp w/sp2. Any ideas what's wrong with the discs? I have a minimal programming experience, but am willing to do all that is necessary to get the software running and upward. We are down in this area, as I removed the old Cal Exec 2.0 already.

Have you tried it on another computer just to make sure that's not the optical drive? You should also try to temporarily disable all antivirus software. It is possible you have a bad batch of discs - it has been known to occur. If you contact your representative local sales OR they may be able to get you a new together pretty quickly. Maybe even to stay overnight it to you.

  • FIXBOOT corrupted disk

Tree last week, I tried to recover my files a disc that had crushed partition (XP btw). I'm at the point where I restored all the original files to a new drive (2 TB). For the heck of it I tried to start without FIXBOOT or FIXMBR first. Does not start so I thought I might try FIXBOOT and see if it works. Well, it didn't work, now the disc is damaged and I can't see the files on the drive when I start in a backup copy of XP. Gives me the message: "the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."  I searched for this error and he mentions something about fat, but this drive is formatted in NTFS.

I think that the new drive is not cooperate because Windows gave me an error when I tried to format it. I found a program that formatted and allowed me to get the files that it contains. I had no problem with the previous (1.5 TB) drive, which has been cloned from the original, which I use now (500 GB). 2 TB is too much for the system to be managed? Any ideas? Thank you

    Hello

This problem may occur if the file, folder, or file system index (Master File Table [MFT] or [FAT] File Allocation Table) is damaged.

Attempt to repair the damaged file, the folder or the file of index system using Chkdsk. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start and then click Run.
In the Open box, type chkdsk /f :, where is the letter of the drive on which the file is damaged, the folder or the file system index exists.
    Click OK.
NOTE: If the hard disk is large, Chkdsk may take several minutes to several hours to complete.

There is no practical storage limits in Windows. For example, you can use 2 TB with no problems.

    Thank you.

Assuming that you have not scheduled a chkdsk to run at the next reboot of your system:

If your system is running a chkdsk, it means that Windows has found the volume to be 'dirty' and will make an effort to solve the problem by running chkdsk with fixed error (chkdsk/r) of Windows startup.

A volume may become dirty things such as a power failure, power failure, taken by pulling, using the power/reset button, etc. While Windows is running off the battery.

One of these events before this incident?

If you can get to a command prompt, you can check the volumes:

You can query the dirty bit on a volume from the prompt with administrator privileges.

Click on the Start orb button / and in the box type the following:

    cmd.exe

Right-click on cmd.exe and select run as Administrator:

To query the bit of impurity on the C drive, type the following in the command prompt window:

    fsutil dirty query C:

Example of output should be one or the other of:

    Volume c is dirty
    Volume C is NOT dirty

You should check each of your volumes or each hard disks (C, D, E, etc.).

It wouldn't make sense to try and install Windows if the file system is corrupt, but who knows...

  • DBF file get corrupted

Hi, someone at - it never gets their dbf table go corrupt? I don't get my data or corrupted in any other software in my computer different ArcView files. So, I don't think I have a virus. It almost seems like a glitch in the program, the reason is perhaps that I have Edit and save the file so many times in a day to just corrupted after so many changes.

    How to fix?

    Any help, thanks!

I had the same problem repeatedly. I found that when I'm ready to stop editing, if I save the data with the menu choice "table, save the changes", rather than "stop editing", then save the changes, it seems not jumble the database. This method works only part of the time, however. I also found that if I backup on a disk, tape or zip, while ArcView is running, it will be helter skelter databases. This does not answer your question, I don't know, but maybe it will help to give a little more information, so that someone else can point us toward a cure.

  • File Photoshop CC began to get corrupted

Hi, I have a file that I worked on (CC Photoshop + OSX 10.9.1).

These artifacts appear in some layers which have effects on dynamic objects (but not limited too).

Is there something I can do? Is there a "auto-fix' for PSD files?

Video drivers for Mac are available only at Apple through Mac OS X updates.  We cannot get them from the card manufacturers.

If the driver is not the issue, you need to understand what corrupted your file.  This can happen through RAM or HD, defects or by registering on a network.

This is the standard text often used for saving to a network (NOTE the part where he explains that normally, it works, but it is impossible to solve someone else on the network remotely, and that's why he didn't is not supported by Adobe):

If you open files on a network, or saved on a network server, please cease and desist immediately in the case where you currently have problems with one or more files. On a network is not supported.

    See:

    http://kb2.Adobe.com/CPS/406/kb406793.html

Copy the local file CLOSED your server hard disk, work on it, again to save it on your local hard drive, close it and copy the closed file on the server.

Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support work on a network does not necessarily mean that it doesn't work.   It should be.

Adobe position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to ensure that everything will work properly in all systems, particularly in view of the fact that that something will not work properly, it is probably the fault of the network, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting of your network.

If you are unable to work locally, you are yourself, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you work from a server, make sure that your network administrator is a competent professional.

When problems arise, much valuable work can be lost.

  • Control code Source Robo get corrupted

Using RH10 and RSC, my files are get damaged.  I use Windows 7 64 bit and I apply the patch for 64-bit.  We noticed little things go bad recently and thought it was RH10 since no problem has not been observed in RH9.

I knew RH10 made some changes to the network, could it be done my project?  I'm pulling everything to implement out of version control to avoid corruption.  Projects must be in Source code control.

Everyone knows about this problem?  Some corruption is local and some remote is.

    CorruptedVersionControl.jpg

Due to our server with very slow access and RH10 locking up, we believe that the source of the corruption occurs when writing files on disk or on our server SourceControl.

Restart the source control server fixed a lot of problems.  This PC gets restarted every month when IT backs up.  In addition, the server is only serving 6 projects for 2 people,... nothing else.  We will restart this PC a week now and see if our problems disappear.

  • Cannot start the VM, corrupted disk

    Hello

I can't start my VM. I get the error message "file not found: FSL_vm5_32.vmdk". I then navigate to the file, which is where it should be, select this option and keeps coming, same error.  Opening of the FSL_vm5_32.vmdk it seems ok. I pasted the files vmdk and vmx below. I noticed that the size of the hard disk is 0 bytes. If I click on the hard drive I get an error "the specified file is not a virtual disk.  So I tried to add a hard disk using an existing virtual drive and then got the same error that "the specified file is not a virtual disk.  Then I tried to import the virtual machine by using the source of other and selecting the VMX file. Which gives an error that it cannot determine the guest operating system.

Looking for the log file, it appears that one of the files that make up the virtual disk cannot be read. I have posted the log below.

Is it possible to repair this file or around?

I am running VMware Workstation 6.5.2 build-156735 on Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. The virtual machine is a Linux RedHat enterprise 5.

    Thank you
