WSUS fails to import updates

I'm having a problem with my WSUS machine that runs in Windows Server 2003, because it is unable to import import updates when I run the wsusutil.exe command. It keeps showing an error as follows:

Import cannot import updates. Please see the log file for details of the error.

Fatal error: failed to connect to the user ". The user is not associated with a SQL Server login that is approved.

Can someone help me solve this problem? Thank you much for the help.

  • Atheros Driver: Important update failed

Windows 7 Home Premium, 32-bit operating system

My network connection works. Update of Windows listed and marked the Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter as an important update. The update fails during installation.

    Measures taken and error messages:

    1. Windows Update list Atherod a driver update important. The installation failed. "Code 800F0203 Windows Update has encountered an error unknown."
    2. Do you have a reboot. Same mistake.

    4. Delete the Temp folder. Ran scannow.
    5. Turn it back on. Same mistake.

    7. Open the Device Manager. Right clicked and selected update driver software. Error message: 'Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter Found. Error during installation. There is no driver selected for the item or a set of device information. »

It can be useful if I could erase the driver update from the list of Windows Update and let it do a clean search.

Any technical assistance or shared experience will be greatly appreciated.

Brummyfan2, I apologize if my previous answer sounded rude. When I type, sometimes, short words carry not correctly my thoughts. You do not give the solution to part of the problem, and I appreciated your advice.

For others who may have the same problem, see https://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100428074233AAz3rhl

Mark the update as masked Atheros. -Open Windows Update, click right on the Atheros updates and select hide.

Part 2 of the above referenced instructions says to delete the files downloaded for updates. I did it; I don't think, however, that it was necessary.

    Hi Linda,

Please, give him another chance & perform the procedure below

Diagnosis: The permissions were incorrect for some registry keys.

Considerations: I've used this for Vista Ultimate SP1 and Office 2003 SP3. A similar procedure may work for other versions of office and Windows, I don't know.

You need to be reasonably computer or ask someone who is. You will need the installation of office files.

Important note: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    322756 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/)

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

FIX: You * may * be able to use to Repair Office 2003 to identify the keys to the problem and then use the Registry Editor to change the relevant key permissions:

    1. connect to your computer as an administrator (if you can install programs, it is likely that you are an admin).

    2. run the Registry Editor (Start > run and run regedit).

    3. in the registry from backup of your registry Editor (select the top node of the computer, and then click file > export, save the file somewhere sensitive.). (Do not close the registry editor, yet).

    4. run a repair for Office 2003 (see relevant Microsoft KB).

    5. When you get an error in the repair process using the registry editor, find the EXACT registry key named on the command prompt (using the easy to find, Ctrl + F4 and F3 to repeat).

    6. right click on the key and select permissions on the shortcut menu.

7 set the user groups to enable total control and reading (click OK to save the changes).

DO NOT CHANGE A KEY UNLESS IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS IN THE REPAIR LINE.

    8. in repair, click the Retry button.

    9. If the error prompt is replaced by another invite for a different key then the fix worked. Repeat step 5 above for the new registry key.

    10. If the error reoccurs prompt then repeat step 6, but assign another likely group of total control, for example the system.

11 when all the keys have been updated and the repair finishes and then close the registry editor, then try Windows Update again.

    12. If this does not correct the problem, then you must restore your backup registry file.

PostScript: If you experience system problems after that you can restore the registry by double-clicking the registry file that you saved. If you can not do a repair of Office or run the registry editor, then you may not be an administrator.

  • Win7 (Home Premium) cannot start after "important update"

I just bought a new PC with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed. After an update that Win7 launch is no longer, instead the PC reboots from the BIOS. Now, as I write to you from my old XP system, I do that I can't do this post shouldn't indicate that I found a solution. Using the utilities available / suggested at this stage, I can't understand what the 'important' update was so am not able to retrace the steps that may have caused problems. Currently, I run the system recovery, so maybe in a few minutes, I might be able to use the WIN7 PC again. However, I would like to know if anyone else is / has been faced with this problem.

    Hi isamart,

First of all, I suggest to start the computer in safe mode and see if you can boot to the desktop.

To boot to the desktop in safe mode keep tapping key F8 during restart. Once you see the option to start in safe mode select and press to enter.

Access the link to learn more about how to start the computer in safe mode: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

If you are able to access safe mode, you can try to check the update installed on your computer and remove it and check if that helps.

To view and remove the updates installed, follow the steps below.

    1. click on start

    2. in the start search box type appwiz.cpl, and then on enter.

    1. click on view the updates installed in the left pane.

    2. take note of the recently installed update in the list and remove the update.

    3. restart the computer and check if you can start.

If the steps above fail, you try to perform a system restore on your computer to an earlier date and check if you can boot to the desktop.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.

    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    4. click on finish.

The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

Access the link below to find more information about the system restore.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-is-system-restore

I hope this helps. Let us know the result.
