WU repeatedly installs the same two updates. KB2686828 and KB2656839.

I am repeatedly offered the same two updates that are installed automatically. When I try to install any other optional updates, they are downloaded but do not install. When I check the update history, there is no failure message or any indication the downloaded updates tried to install. I tried to install in the clean boot state that didn't work and I tried to fork to install. The two who installed do not add and remove programs. I also tried the update fix - it who said that had changed the location data. Is there anything else I can do? Thank you.

Hi Kathleen,.

Did you change your computer before this problem?

This problem occurs when one of the following conditions is true:

(a) an error has occurred during installation. The update has not been installed.

(b) the update has been installed. However, a file was not updated to restart the computer.

For the last month or more, I had the same two updates on my computer.  Is anyone know why and what I can do to fix this?  I am running Windows XP.  Thank you very much.

    Hello

the message "you have hidden the important updates" is normal, because you have hidden the high priority updates, but the updates are already installed, if that's OK.

Try to look again at the web page:

    http://www.update.Microsoft.com/

    and click on "Custom".

You should not see the updates (KB2518864 and KB2539631) in "review and install updates.

You should see only "Important - you have hidden the important updates..." and "high-priority - updates non-priority updates to update for your computer... ».

Then, try this (remove the content of the "'C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution" ")

    1. Click Start, click run, type services.mscand click OK.
    2. In the Services (Local) pane, click automatic updates, and then click stop.
    3. Reduce the Services (local) window.
    4. Select all the contents of the Windows distribution folder, and then delete them.

Note By default, the Windows distribution folder is located in the drive: \Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder. This place is a placeholder for the drive where Windows is installed.

    5. Ensure that Windows distribution folder is emptyand enlarge the Services (local) window.
    6. In the Services (Local) pane, click automatic updates, and then click Start.
    7. Restart the computer.

I hope that we will achieve the goal, it will no longer still report the updates :-)

    question 1

my research of computer for updates every day 10:00, I install them, it seems to have succeeded then the shield reappears to tell me that the updates are ready for my computer? It's really confusing and it seems to be the same 5 updates, is there a problem with these updates and how to fix it
    question 2
my windows xp continues to come with a corrupted file is related to question 1?
Please help IV ' e have no idea what to do about it
    Hi vickysumner,

-Do you remember the number of Knowledge Base (KB) updates that are offered to install several times?

-What is the corrupt file that you're talking about?

-Do you have pop ups or any error message that a file was deleted? If Yes, specify exactly the error message verbatim.

Method 1: Check the status of the updates in the update history.

    a. click Start, click all programsand then click Windows Update or Microsoft Update.
    b. on the Windows Update Web site or on the Microsoft Update Web site, click view update history. A window opens that displays the updates that have been installed or that have failed to install on the computer.
    (c) in the State of this window column, find the update failed to install and then click on the red X.
    (d) a new window opens that displays the installation error code. Note the error number. You will have to type or paste the error number in a search box to the next step.

Method 2: Also, try the steps listed here:

You cannot install some programs or updates

  • Windows Update keeps providing the same 6 updates again and again.

This is the third time that I am a request for assistance with this problem.

I have Vista Home Premium, 32-bit sp1.  HP Pavilion PC, about 2 years.  Norton Internet Security, Malwarebytes and Defender on.

Since September 8, I was offered various updates.  I can't install the 6 following updates:
    KB967723
    KB970710
    KB968816
    KB905866
    KB971961
    KB973768

I have install, update says that they have been installed successfully. they next day, they are offered again and if I go to view installed updates that are not there, although that still listed as installed with success in the history of the update.  Note: I do NOT receive the error messages.

The first response to my original message does not understand my problem because he told me to uninstall the updates I had already said were not there.  I followed his other recommendations anyway (try to install the updates in the clean boot state) and it made no difference.

The second speaker suggested reset components Windows Update (who has not made a difference) and using the system update tool (which apparently, the site said I didn't need).

Any other ideas?  I'm trying to update my system and do not feel I can do so until that these issues would be resolved.

    Thank you

  • Creative cloud keeps giving me the same app updates over and over

Overall I was happy with creative cloud and ease installation and update applications.  My only complaint is that, whenever I am asked to update an application (or applications), I STILL get the same notice of update and even ONCE, regardless of how many times I have to perform the installation.  Is not problems with my system, but it is annoying and I wonder if installs it actually happen.  Everyone knows this?

    Hi efelberg,

For Mac, please follow the steps:

    1. navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdater/1.0 and rename to 1.0.old (http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/access-hidden-user-library-files.html)

    2. activate the root account and place you ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdater/1.0 and rename to 1.0.old

    Root: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11331

Connect to the back of your account and launch of Office CC and it shouldn't give you any update prompt.

    Kind regards

Try to install some other updates and then reboot your PC and run the update again. If the problem has not been resolved, and then run this tool:

  • Repeatedly offered the same three updates

I had my computer (an Acer all-in-one destop) for a few months now and it froze on me once and he had automatic updates that would install when I went to close. So I had to reboot by pressing the power button. Now, it has been downloaded these same updates three but not install them when I turn the computer back on. I have Win 7 Home Premium 64 - bit OS. Is there anyway this can be fixed?

It helps those answering questions if you provide:

you use what browser (exact version).

What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?

    What third-party firewall

What anti-malware software can be installed.

What updates you trying to install?

What error do you get everything when trying to install updates?

  • Repeatedly offered the same Office update (KB949074)

The only part of Microsoft Office 2003, I still have installed js its foreign language dictionaries, 27 August, I received an update to Office 2003 KB949074, who apparently has been installed correctly, but continues to be available.

    What is happening?

  • Repeatedly offered the same 3 updates

The 3 items requested are KB979909, KB982168 and KB983583and can last several minutes, stop accordingly. Add/Remove shows all the three are installed.  How can I stop this please

    XPPro/SP3/IE8

Add/Remove shows all the three are installed.

    1. stop the automatic updates service:

    Start > run > services.msc (enter) > [OK]
Double-click Automatic Updates > click Stop
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

2 remove the contents of the download folder:

    Start > run > %windir%\SoftwareDistribution (enter) > [OK]
Open the download folder and delete its contents
    Close the window.

    3. go to the Windows Update Web site. Select CUSTOM and allow the analysis to be performed. Uncheck the box/deselect KB982168, KB979909 & KB983583 and hide it from them ("don't show me this update").

    4. start the automatic updates service:

    Start > run > services.msc (enter) > [OK]
Double-click Automatic Updates > click Start
(Starting the service will take a moment)
