WUSB54GC help!

I have problems with my usb wireless g adapter. It worked fine on Friday (9/23) but stopped working last night and windows won't let me not reactivate because he says there is a problem but does not say what the problem is.

I first tried my wireless-g usb brothers adapt (same model) and it did not work either, so I tested my card in my laptop and also signed on my family vista premium (32 bit) account on my computer to check if the material was the question and my adapter worked fine. I uninstalled the drivers for the adapter on my windows 7 (64 bit) ultimateos and let windows reinstall them several times and I tried upgrading the drivers that linksys/cisco was on the support page for this card, still nothing. Then I thought maybe something messed up windows update so I restored to the point that it worked (Friday) and still nothing.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I got my windows 7 in collaboration with this wireless adapter for about 3 months now, any ideas?

It is one of the options I've tried before. I contact cisco online chat support and I was told that this version (v1) does not work with Windows 7 so I started messing around with the settings because I couldn't screw it up more and here's what I have provided to make it work:

Sign--> network and Internet--> network connections

Right-click on the wireless g usb adapter, and then select Properties

On the Networking tab, I had to uncheck: Kaspersky Anti - Viruse NDIS 6 filter and Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)

Hello. Ive been at this for 4 days now, I can't find a solution. I'll try to remember as much as possible regarding what ive tried.

    here goes...

long story short, due to unfortunate system errors, I have reinstalled my OS XP home to xp pro. PC works great now! problem is... now my wireless adapter wont connect to the internet.

When I had xp home edition installed, I could just plug in the adapter, and a few seconds, it would connect to the favorite network. (with all settings on Auto) no problem.

now that ive put in OS, it's just cycling "absorbing the network address" infinitely...

his watch the access point, the preferred network, showing the signal strength and do not show errors in Device Manager. right-click and choosing fix do not work. It gets stuck @ renewing IP address scene. its not send or receive packets under status.

He EXPECTED to be functional? It uses a 10-digit WEP key.

Ive tried both the linksys wireless monitor and the windows zero configuration utilites.i since removed the lynksys software screen because it never worked anyway. WZC is that used to work on xp family.

I used " ipconfig/all" to determine the values of the network on the host pc. I tried manually punching in those values (IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS settings, according to the suggestion of a networking of friends) on the adapter wireless itself; using tci/ip options. still does not connect.

Ive tried different USB ports, all that seems to do is to change the number of the wireless connection.

It just does not connect to the internet.

I have the driver I need for this after contacting linksys. I also disabled windows firewall and the firewall/antivirus of 3rd party associated with the network.

He knows questions w / windows xp professional and this particular wireless adapter? (WUSB54GC) that's the only reason why I can think of that is not connected.

what I forget? internet hard wiring of an ethernet port is not an option because there is no ethernet card installed in the pc.

any help is greatly appreciated in advance.

    Thank you.

Sorry it took so long for me to return.

the adapter now works with the automatic settings, using WEP encryption. as it should, and it was.

  • HELP PLEASE! WUSB100 ver. 2 and WUSB54GC worm. 3 and Windows 7 64 bit

So I got both of these cards and can not get either to work with Windows 7 64 bit installation. The WUSB100 presents on the compatibility list as being compatible with 32-bit and 64 - bit Windows 7. The worm shows. 3 WUSB54GC is compatibile with Windows 7 32 bit only.

In both cases I get an error 211 and uninstalled and restarted the computer more than 6 times with the same result. In both cases, Device Manager displays the device as being installed and working properly. However, I have never displayed a wireless adapter in network connections and it never shows the available wireless connections.

Any suggestions on what I can try before I tell all my clients to stay away from Cisco/Linksys products when it comes to Windows 7?

    Thank you

I was able to download the latest drivers from Mediatek which apparently took Ralink. The latest drivers for version WUSB100 2 here:

    http://www.MediaTek.com/en/downloads/

    Select the first:

    USB (RT2870 / RT2770 / RT307X / RT2070 RT357X / RT3370 / RT8070 / RT5X7X / MT7610 / MT7601/MT7612U)

The WUSB100 uses the chip of the RT2870 and this installation package updated the existing installation without having to unplug or restart the computer. He now works very well.

I was put on the right track by reading some previous posts years ago who suggested to go to Ralink tech which is no longer available, but I was able to understand.

Linksys should remove compatible drivers 'so-called' because in fact they are not, and do not work. They might want to consider getting the above driver and add to their clients in order to save some people the aggravation.

  • WUSB54GC Windows XP Professional compatibility

So I bought the adapter WUSB54GC Wireless today.  My computer operating system is Windows XP Professional.  Whenever I have load the disc and click on "Start Setup", a window appears which says: "this version of Windows not supported."  Does anyone know if there is a way to solve this problem with a driver or something?

I did some playing around with it today, and I seem to have understood that it works.  I went online with the office that has the router and saved the installer for Windows XP SP2 on my thumbdrive.  Then I installed on my computer, the software for the wireless adapter installed and plugged into the router.  Everything seems to work, so I hope I did everything right.  Thanks for your help great_white, I would have not got it to work without your initial post.

  • WUSB54GC on dvd recorder

Does anyone have any experience with the help of a WUSB54GC that installed on a PC and then used in a DVD recorder.

If the installation process takes place on the PC. After installation the WUSB54GC is disconnected and placed in the DVD burner.

I want my DVD recorder on my home network to be able to burn movies.

    Will this work?

I don't think it will work. Because when you install the adapter on the computer, it installs the drivers on the computer.

I think that this card is made to work only on computers.

Instead of WUSB54GC you can try the Linksys Wireless Bridge.

  • Driver for my WUSB54GC

Now I'm frustrated.  I think I have almost tried everything.  I have my WUSB54GC nine and I can't install it.  My operating system is Windows Me and all of the programs on the CD that came with my new adapter says 'this version of Windows does not work' or words to that effect.  My machine does something is there - indeed he knows he is a Linksys wireless adapter and even said it was made by Cisco co. - but it says NDIS can not load the driver.  Do I need a different driver?  Can anyone help?

Click on this link and download the data sheet where you might find specific minimum required for your WUSB54GC.

Your version 3 adapter will not work with Windows Millennium Edition. Version 1 of this model works with Windows ME, you can find a.

Or to solve your problem, upgrade your operating system to Windows XP instead.

  • Impossible to activate WUSB54GC under Vista Ultimate x 64

I'm desperate here. I recently bought a WUSB54GC wireless usb adapter for my vista ultimate x 64 box. I installed according to the instructions, but after connection of the device and then clicking on finish in the wizard, I get a "windows cannot find any network." I checked the Device Manager and the driver seems to have installed correctly. I checked the network connections and the adapter is it, only it appears as "disabled" and no matter what I do, I can't allow it.

I decided to test the card in another pc vista x 64 and it works perfectly. What the hell is going on? I mean, the adapter and the drivers of course work, they do not work in my maCHINE.

Thanks to all those who can help you.

OK, since specialists what is called 'Junior' (guess that's why they are junior) to Linksys could not help me, I had to look for a solution myself. So for someone who has the same problem that I did, you can download the Vista X 64 drivers from here. Just install using the original cd, and then Device Manager update the drivers manually.

  • WUSB54GC rev.1 failed on Windows 7 x 64

    Hello

I installed Windows 7 x 64 and used my WUSB54GC rev.1 with Windows drivers by default, until...

I moved it to the other USB port.

Windows could not find the drivers. I tried a lot of things. The native drivers on the disk, installed the drivers x 64 and x 32 for rev.3, installed windows drivers for other currencies listed in the list of windows drivers... linksys then I did system restore. To adapter all my 8 usb ports. Nothing helps...

I have Windows 7 RC x 32 installed and started, the default windows driver has worked for all the ports properly. I also have Windows XP 32-bit, and here I can use Linksys drivers from the Web site. But nothing works for Windows 7 x 64.

    How can I fix?

    Here you go:

    http://sites.Google.com/site/linksysupdateddrivers/Linksys-driver-update-how-to

It is not supported, but it works like a charm. Once you update only once with the supplied package, you can access the Ralink site and get future updates without problem.

  • WUSB54GC/XP cannot load the driver

I used a WUSB54GC for awhile now on vista with no problems.  I've since installed XP and can't get the device to be recognized.  My USB is 2.0.

I downloaded the drivers from ship - WUSB54GCV3_USCAN_4.9.4380.0 - QFE.stable.DS from the support page.  In the new page of found material, I search the Adapter\XP\x86 directory with no luck.  When I try to manually choose the driver I get the message "the specified location contains no information about your hardware.  When I use setup.exe it prompts me to install the adapter and I get the same result as above.

I downloaded the latest chipset drivers for my thought of the motherboard that can be a problem but still have no luck.  I don't know what would be my next step.  The only thing I've found so far is the name of the file to download WUSB54GC V3.  There is no v3 unit, I understand, there is only a v1.0.

    Thank you

Borrowed from a cable ethernet 75' from a friend and connected my PC to my router.  Windows update help he found the driver and installed the device without any problems.  Leads me to believe that the driver from the support site is the wrong driver.

Hope this helps anyone with the same problem.

  • WUSB54GC USB adapter gives 211 error message during installation

In a recent post, I had difficulties to reconfigure my router WRT54G2 and reinstall my printer adapter and the USB wireless adapter, I managed to configure my router and the printer adapter gets its signal.  My laptop with wireless built to receive the signal from the router.  I tried to reinstall my WUSB54GC wireless adapter and continually get a "error 211 adapter is not installed correctly message."  The wireless adapter is used on my desktop computer which is running XP.  Before reconfiguring my problems, I had no cumulative with the adapter.  Its only since I've reconfigured the router that this has happened.  What can be done to get the card working?  Thanks for your help.

I googled and found how to get to the XP Device Manager.  Entered and left the card wireless into the usb port.  It came with a red mark on it and then I uninstalled it.  Then I went through the set up procedure and it worked!   Thank you.  Sorry I gave you a such run around, but I wasn't really sure about your instructions.  Now, I know what is the Device Manager.  I learned something.

  • Connection speed problems - black WUSB54GC usb adapter

    Hello everyone,

This is my first post here!

I googled nothing helped, and so I thought I would record with the Linksys forum and see if maybe I can solve this problem that others may have as well.

I recently installed black WUSB54GC usb wireless adapter on my desktop PC, windows XP (now updated with service packs, etc.)

The adapter receives the complete signal (very good - excellent, 54 Mbps), but it seems that my download speeds are capped with this adapter. Web pages same way load more slowly. I can place the macbook from my girlfriend directly next to my office, connected to exactly the same wireless network, and its download speed, browser speed and speed test results are always twice as me (any site speed test I use or what file I download).

When I do a speed test, almost seems as if the speedometer needles few want to continue, but they just 'bounce', as they are hitting some kind of ceiling.

When downloading files, the macbook on average 500 to 800 Kbps, while the adapter WUSB54GC hangs out at approximately 90 kbps.

I have read in this forum and have adjusted my router Linksys WRT54G wireless suggested as follows:

-Set the channel 11-2 wireless, 462 GHz

-Change the interval of tag to 75

-Change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304

-Change the RTS threshold to 2304

In addition, my connection speed is even slower, regardless if I have the settings TCP/IP (under the Wi - Fi connection properties) set manual (static ip) or automatically.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I would like to be able to get this thing working properly, knowing that my router is pumping a lot more than this adapter is letting me use.

    Thank you!

Well, I think I solved the problem.

Seems that in some ports USB on my motherboard (Asus P5B) do not allow to run at full speed wireless USB adapter. I had used in the rear ports on my computer... but the passage for the first ports (that came with the case - Thermaltake Armor) seems to have solved the problem. However, as I believe that all of the USB ports I have is strange Hi-speed USB 2.0 and strange that those outside that came with the case and will connect to the pins on the motherboard works better than those actually built. Huh.

Wouldn't be something to do with the drivers for the WUSB54GC, or is this a problem with USB port drivers?

In any case, I'm sorry if this sounds like a useless thread now, but maybe this someone solve other problems too.

    See you soon!

  • Extension of the network - Novice needs help

I'd appreciate some tips with a change I need to do to my wireless network. I have now works well, but I am somewhat a novice to this.

My current network is composed of two computers. Computer A is a desktop computer connected to a router WRT54G2 wireless via patchcord. It is my main computer, used to create the network by using the CD that came with the router. Computer B is a laptop that connects to the network with a wireless WPC54G laptop adapter. Both computers are running Windows XP, and the network works well. The network uses WEP security.

I'm ready to add C of the computer to the network. Computer C is a desktop computer and will become my main computer. Computer C is also currently running Win XP. I want to connect it via patchcord to the router WRT54G2, replacement of computer A. I bought an adapter WUSB54GC USB to A computer to connect to the wireless network.

I don't know where to start. I first need to uninstall any software Linksys on both computers A & B to start all over again? Can I just unplug the computer from the router, plug computer C and continue? Any suggestions on how to approach this change without too much gnashing of teeth and tearing of hair is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help.

There is no need to uninstall the software of the router from any computer.

You must connect the C computer to the router with a rope and connect computer A the card and install the installation for her disc.

  • WUSB54GC Wireless - G USB Adapter question

I have a vista computer running with a wireless router model: WRT54G2 V1, and a computer with adapter WUSB54GC xp who usually find the wireless network, im using WPA-Personal encryption.

    Any help would be grateful.

Oh and by the way, I can connect to the network with my phone without any problem.

I think you need to change some settings of your router for the wireless part. Follow the steps below and change the settings of your router.

For wireless settings, follow these steps: -.

    Click on the Wireless tab

-Here, select manual configuration... Wireless network mode must be mixed...

-Provide a unique name in the name box of the wireless network (SSID) in order to differentiate your network from your network of neighbors...

-Set the Standard - 20 MHz Radio band and change the Standard channel to 11-2, 462 GHz... Wireless SSID broadcast should be enabled and then click on save settings...

Please take note of the name of the wireless network (SSID) because it's the network identifier...

    For wireless security: -.
Click the sub-tab under wireless > Wireless Security...

Change the mode of WEP wireless security, encryption must be 64-bit. Let the empty password, do not type in anything... Under type of WEP Key 1 in all 10 numbers please (numbers only and no mailbox for example: your 10-digit phone number) and click on save settings...

Please note the 1 WEP key as it comes to the security key for the wireless network... Click the settings advanced wireless

Change the interval of tag to 75 > change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304, change the RTS threshold to 2304 > click 'save settings '...

Now let's see if you can locate your wireless network and try to connect...
