• PPPoE with WRT400N problems

  I am replacing an old Netgear MR314 with Linksys wrt400n. I have an old Alcatel DSL modem ('speed touch Home'). When I daisy chain the wrt400n (planned for obtaining IP via DHCP) off the coast of the mr314, it works fine. However when I reconfigure the wrt400n to use PPPoE with the same PPPoE user name and password as the mr314 had and plug the wrt400n directly on the ADSL modem, the wrt400n never leaves 'connection' mode on the status page. There is no error reported, even when I mangle intentionally username. In addition, there is no flicker of Rx & Tx lights on the modem. I turned it off and them powered upwards in order (1 modem, then wrt400n), with the same result. It's like the wrt400n is not communicating with the modem, but it does not communicate with the old raouter. I use the same cables when I'm daisy chaining off the coast of the MR314. I also checked for firmware updates, and there is not.

  Since I havve a very old ADSL modem, I thought that maybe the wrt400n doesn't detect that the modem can be slow, that is, it cannot handle 100 MHz. So I put an old hub 10Base-T between the wrt400n and the ADSL modem... and now it connects. The router seems to work fine now.

  Hi all

  I just bought these two devices because the way I understood it, I would be able to use the two bands simultaneously to perform different tasks. IE streaming video on the 5 GHz while transferring the files/navigation on the 2.4 GHz. This has been made clear as a feature of the WUSB600N datasheet which can be found here (or here in the case where the link goes down)

  For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to do, so I called technical support and while the lady was nice, his response was basically "no matter what the datasheet, you can not do this.

  She is good? The adapter allows the two bands at the same time at all and even less to perform two independent tasks? If not, what is the advantage of having double adapters band when I use the 5 GHz band anyway?

  Yes, there are some advantages...

  The 2.4 GHz band has a greater range (distance), but like an idiot, there are many devices making use of this frequency band (i.e. the potential disturbances in the signal). Another advantage is the compatibility of all 'old' adapters Wireless 2.4 GHz.

  The 5.0 GHz band has a shorter range, but is active in a group that is less crowded, and you have more channels available, so there is more room if there is no other competing routers in the same band.

  But if you have only one PC / server, it's a bit much IMHO.

  Using two NIC on the same PC/server will you no good either, as I know, windows cannot manage (optimize) multiple network cards.

  I just installed a (renovated) WUSB600n on my netbook. The to-do bar displays 3 wireless connections, one is managed by the Wireless Linksys network monitor, and the other 2 are managed by Windows XP, each of these 2 shows a connection to a wireless (2.4 Ghz or 5 Ghz) bands. If I click on them and select view wireless networks, it says "Windows cannot configure this wireless connection".

  Can I disable Windows safely Login Manager?

  EU drops random connection during the last few weeks where I see network connections downward just router on wireless or wired cat 5. Tonight, I can't connect to the router at all. If I disconnect and reconnect power after 30 seconds it's going to come back for a few moments, but then I would lose again.  I can't get help from linksys that my router is out of warranty. I ' v been searching around people have had similar problems, but it seems that have for the most part just the internet connection. I still have the same firmware for routers that the day that I bought it and the router is on my desk in a ventilated area do not overheating. I don't know what I can do to further diagnose the problem, I even tried resetting to the factory settings. Are there measures that someone here could recommend that I try to diagnose the problem or see if my router just died. Thanks in advance.

  It is possible that you have a client device that is causing the problem.  You can close or disconnect each customer, then check your network for a period of time.  This could be your time if you have multiple devices, then I would say from PC that is more likely to be infected or unwanted software running.  Torrent software has been known to use IP connections more than some routers cannot handle, which causes connection issues.

  What are the symptoms when you lose your connections? Error messages could be useful in addition to solving this problem.

• HND and WRT400N or WRT320N

  I was on two techniques different conversations and am still unable to download the product HND. The last of them had me download the latest LELA who was supposed to have HND in there. I installed it and there is a download link for Trend Micro. However, it is only Internet Security, a product I already own and use.

  However, I followed the instructions to remove my current version (an obligation) and installed. There was no Home Network Defender.

  I did this using the WRT400N router installed.

  I've had first bought a WRT320N but said on the chat tech that this model had no HND, although he is listed as one of the models of qualifications. SO I brought and bought the WRT400N. It doesn't work any more.

  Can someone please tell me what routers can be used with HND and where can I download the thing?

  The WRT400N can't HND.

  The WRT320N does support HND, but you will need to have the latest firmware.  This can be downloaded from our support Web site.  Afterwards, you should be able to use Network Magic to enable HND.

  HND is supported in the following routers: WRT160N, WRT120N (coming soon), WRT310N WRT320N and WRT610N.  The key is to make sure that you are using the latest firmware.

• WUSB600N wireless adapter does not work if hooked up to Windows startup

  I have the adapter WUSB600N wireless, and I use it with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I use the latest available driver, 3.0.10.0. When Windows first starts, the adapter does not work properly and is unable to connect to any network, regardless of how long wait. If I unplug it and plug it back after that Windows is already running, I don't have this problem. This does not work when the "reboot" of the machine; only when turning the power off and then on again.

  Do you have an error message when attempting to connect to the wireless network?

  Try to uninstall and reinstall the wireless card and see if that helps you.

• Unknown device showing in DHCP for WRT400N

  Hi, I have the WRT400N router with the latest firmware. Recently, I noticed a camera in my DHCP I do not recognize. It is not peripheral I own (trust me, I built up my brain and confirmed) as he shows as an Acer pc. However, I can't ping the IP address. I rebooted my router several times thinking maybe it's an old device connected but saved in memory but it comes back. I think maybe this is someone hijacking my Internet, but not sure. I am using WEP security, but it shows a connection to the local network, which is strange for a wireless device. The only hard cables pc is my HP. Suggestions before I start having to redo all my SSID and security type/passwords? Not that it makes a difference, but I don't broadcast my SSID, but know there are programs that still find them. • WRT400N connection problems

  I had a problem with my router from Linksys WRT400N wireless. Whenever my router restarts or if the DHCP lease expires, I am unable to connect to the internet. Meanwhile, I can access the router but not the internet. Oddly something that seems to 'fix' it is that if I use my nintendo wii to access my internet wireless at that time, all the computers on my network are able to access the internet. However, it's boring to do it since it happens once a day from DHCP lease expiring. Using any other computer to access the internet at the moment would be unable to get a connection until I do the "fix" with the Wii. I am looking for a permanent solution to this problem. Can someone help me or give advice? WRT400N

  You can also try upgrading/re-Flash the firmware on your router.

  Connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable. Download the latest firmware and save it on your computer. Open the router setup page and update the firmware of the router.

  After upgrading the firmware of your router, reset the router and reconfigure. Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait 30 seconds. Power cycle the router and reconfigure.

• Cannot send mail from Outlook with parentheses in the address

  I can't send the email from Outlook 2007 through my WRT400N when Outlook displays the address in brackets, as in this example: Firstname Lastname ([email protected])

  I can send if the address is in this form: Firstname Lastname

  I tested with the ISP and nothing is through the router when the problem occurs. When I bypass the router, the two forms of address will send properly. This problem is perfectly reproducible. My router is brand new, but the problem has not been demonstrated for about a week after installation. Operating system is Win7. Any ideas? Thank you.

  I thought some of you would like to know that you can get the WUSB600N v2 works on Ubuntu (I'm on Karmic)

  What to do:

  (Kudoz to Yohanna Chastre of the forum Ubuntu Launchpad)

  1. download and save the module RT3572 (glance on the Ralink site, support, Linux)
  2. open Terminal, go to the download folder (or anywhere where you you saved the file and run "bunzip2 2009_1222_RT3572_LinuxSTA_V2.3.0.0.tar.bz2" without the "")
  3. in the same terminal with the command "tar - xvf 2009_1222_RT3572_LinuxSTA_V2.3.0.0.tar".
  4. the cd in the 2009_1222 folder *.

  5 gedit common/rtusb_dev_id.c and scroll down until see you an article that begins with #ifdef RT35xx

  then go further to the bottom and add BEFORE the #endif follows the line "{USB_DEVICE (1737 0 x, 0 x 0079)}", without the quotes

  don't forget,

  Save the file (basically you have added the vendor and device id

  You will get some error messages about the size that... just ignore

  8 run the command 'sudo modprobe rt3572sta ".

  You're not going to believe but the blue led lights and you will find the NIC under ra0

  The only problem that remains is that your SSID must be on the Broadcast, otherwise it won't work.

  I now connect to N (5.0 Ghz) with WPA2 encryption active Strip and a strength of connection of216Mb/s

  If you have installed the latest update for Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic), you will notice that the NETWORK card no longer works...

  Just go in your tar UN folder (BTW, under point 4 is bad, should be the cd in the 2009_1214 folder)

  sudo make

  and you're back in business

  How about if you change the settings of the router wireless. Change the width of the channel at 20 Mhz and select 9 as the standard channel under the 2.4 Ghz settings. For 2.4 GHz wireless security settings, you must set the security settings wireless personal WPA2 and AES as the encryption. BTW, you have problems in your laptop only, or with computers portable mutiple because if you don't have a laptop then you must try to update drivers wireless card from your cell phone.
