Hi can anyone help,

I am trying to picture about 100 laptops above using 'Windows Deployment Server'.

To get the server talk to the laptop, I need to inject an INF file in the server.

My problem is what file INF do I need, because there is so much and none of them does not seem to work so far.

Thanks in advance

Thank you topmahof,

I managed that finally by following this tip I found on the Web.

  • install an .inf file

Is it possible to install office 2010 on my macbook pro and if so, how?

By installing Windows on your Mac and then by running Office 2010 in Windows.

In addition, an .inf file is not an installation program. If that's all you have, you aren't going to get anywhere.

    Hello

It of Nice to hear that.

The other possibility is to right click the inf file and choose the installation option.

However, thanks for the info it works.

  • Phone calls from a person claiming ot be a Microsoft Contractor regarding the INF file

I get phone calls from a person claiming to be a Microsoft contractor.  He said that my computer has been hacked and wanted me to access my INF file so I could correct and stop piracy. I have trouble understanding what he said because his accent was so heavy. Why a caller would want me to access my INF file?  He seeks access to my computer?  Can hacking really stop this drive?  Microsoft really knows when someone hacked my computer? Help!

    Hello

Calls unrequested telephone of this nature are almost always a common scam. Do not let them give any info, do not give access to your PC, not give them all the money and do not go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment.

    Please see:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-GB/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx

Microsoft issues never not solicited for phone calls of support or security.

These types of callers can use completely fictitious names or bogusly claim to be of real companies other than Microsoft as well.

Yes, you can export the settings of MAX. It is also an option when you create a Setup program. Your installer should also include NI-Visa.

  • In the folder which I put the tetherxp.inf file?

I downloaded the tetherxp.inf file but I don't know where to put it.

INF files are hardware driver installation files and the location in which save you them is not serious.  In general, these files - not surprisingly - in C:\Windows\inf.

In Windows XP, C:\Windows\inf is a hidden directory.  To get to it or type the full name (C:\Windows\inf) in the address bar of Windows Explorer or use tools > Folder Options > view to select 'see her hide the hidden files and folders ".

Although you might save tetherxp.inf anywhere, including in C:\temp, I suggest that you put it in C:\Windows\inf as well as all the other *.inf files if you need to re - install your device, you'll be able to find once again (files in C:\temp may be deleted at some point).

  • Not truly Plug & Play with the generated for custom USB device .inf file

    Hello

We have developed an application that uses the library OR-VISA-in order to communicate with our USB device via RAW communication.

This is why we created an *.inf file using the driver Wizard. Once we plug-in the device for the first time, windows enumerates the device successfully and the 'Found new hardware' pop-up - window.

We chose the .inf file that is created, and the device is properly installed.

Our problem occurs when we plug one another device of the same type but with a different Serial-ID (which means that same VID, PID, only the ID for the USB - stick is different).

For all devices with a Serial-ID, which has not been connected to windows, and yet, the "found new hardware" - window opens again so that you HAVE to choose the installation procedure. Despite the fact that the driver for this type of device was already installed, windows does not affect our driver .inf file to the device.

If we chose, then in the "Found new hardware" procedure - the "Automatic Setup" window - the device is installed and can be used successfully.

Of course, windows recognizes the right driver but does not automatically assign it without pop-up windows. We want to avoid the pop-up reapeating for each device.

I did some research on this subject, and now I guess the problem is that the generated .inf file has no signature.

Does anyone have experiences on this subject? Am I wrong? Does anyone have or had the same problem?

All solutions next assign the same ID series for all devices?

Here some quote the file setupapi.log (which seems to confirm my hypothesis):

    Hi Philip,

Thanks a lot to post your question. I talked to our specialists in the United States on the signing of your created driver. You will find a brief description in the Readme of NI-VISA:

    "WHQL signature hardware USB.

WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) sign your USB hardware using the driver NI-VISA for Windows XP / 2000, as part of this process it takes a PDB (program database) file to the underlying driver (NiViUsbK.sys).

NiViUsbK.pdb is provided for this purpose. It is in \WinNT\NIvisa\USB. This is usually C:\VXIPNP\WinNT\NIvisa\USB. »

To get it done, you must contact Microsoft. We are not allowed / able to sign your driver for you.

Perhaps, the following link helps you: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/winlogo/wlk/default.mspx

  • Missing USB. The Windows XP SP3 Installation INF file

I had problems to install USB devices and after a long-term task and it narrowed the field down, I discovered why.

I don't have USB. INF file in my Windows/Inf directory.

Annoyingly, my setup is not an I386 directory, and my XP disks are stored in a box somewhere that I'm travelling right now.

I need to get a copy of the USB right. File INF for XP SP3 - I downloaded a couple, but they did not...

Anyone knows where I can get it online, or could send me a link or send me a copy?

    Thank you

    Matt

Try to get the smart-inf of your manufacturer of computers or the chip-maker (for example Intel)

If you do not lnow what chip you have Intel has routine to check the chip chip-inf

I have a similar problem, but still not resolved, apparently SP3 do not update or keep the inf files...
  • 7520 HP Photosmart print remotely to Windows XP INF file

My HP Photosmart 7520 is USB attached to Windows 8.1.  On my LAN, I have a Windows XP System I want to be able to send documents to my 8.1 window attached Photosmart 7520 to print.

When I originally installed the printer divers, only the HP 64-bit compatible with Windows 8.1 driver was installed by the HP Installer.

Now when I try to use my XP computer, I get a statement to a new INF file.   Where can I find the INF file to install, because it doesn't have not installed automatically with the HP Photosmart HP 7520 installation package.

    Thank you.

    Waynej3

    My configuration:

Local - 8.1 Windows with the drivers installed Photosmart HP 7520.

The problem: my computer Windows XP does not recognize the printer 64-bit on Windows 8.1 driver.

    What I did:

1 downloaded the HP Photosmart 7520 for XP on my computer XP drivers.

    2. install HP Photosmart 7520 base drivers on the XP computer and indicated I would like to set up the printer later.

    a. the printer is not connected to the XP computer USB.

    (b) the printer is not wireless connected to the XP computer.

    c. I indicated that I would setup the printer drivers later.

    3. browse for the printer on my local area network (LAN) and found the computer Windows as well as the Photosmart HP 7520 8.1 was attached to it.

    4. I configured the most remote printer using the driver package HP XP that I downloaded and installed, and the computer XP found the printer.

    5. I was able to print to the HP PhotoSmart 7520 remote printer.

    Problem solved.
